I caught up and where to even begin…..Looks to me like the writers wanted to simultaneously write a lighthearted…
The enemies to lovers premise actually could make for a very interesting plot for a kdrama..Imagine.. just imagine we had a female lead be a secret spy actively trying for her mission to get close to the big bad boss of a criminal organisation and him eventually warming up to her due to her efforts (not just stupidly revealing his secrets like here) and possibly catching feelings.. Him being an actual bad person even murdering people when necessary but also getting to know through his backstory why he became the way he became.. the female lead getting close to him, empathising with his past and developing some feelings.. Thus her being torn between wanting to accomplish her mission and bring him to justice but also her feelings… I would love to watch something like that!
I caught up and where to even begin….. Looks to me like the writers wanted to simultaneously write a lighthearted rom-com/ family drama and a suspenseful crime thriller… As a result they failed miserably at both which makes sense cause those two plots don’t mix together???? There was literally no reason for sio to trust namsoon with all his secrets she hadn’t done anything to gain his trust and get close to him…In fact he should have been ready to suspect her and figure out her identity waaay sooner. They really had to make sio and all of the bad guys that work for him so clueless and stupid (like the employees namsoon worked with) for her to easily spy on them and get all the information without any actual effort put in…You have a boring drug and cops crime plot and a remotely interesting villain and you do him like that?? That feels insulting like sio deserves better I don’t care!
Also there was no effort put in any of the relationships in the show. Namsoon rarely interacts with the family and when she does it’s like they have known each other and been together for years??? She only met them just now?? You never showed them connected and getting to know each other you just act like you did all that??? Same with the romance and ooh god… They really thought let’s add few cute scenes, a kiss and and an I love you scene sprinkled in between the drug plot and the romance is set??? Did they thing we would be satisfied with it?? Like where is the chemistry where is the emotional connection where is any kind of development??? Not only is the couple boring they also feel so artificial??
It’s really not that deep…. The drama is not even that serious for some of you to be so annoyed with people…
Must have worded it wrongly I was not directing that to you or how you personally enjoy the show I was talking in general and just offering an explanation over why I think people like the character..
At the end of the day it’s also a matter of taste/preference. Like you can dislike a character if you want and others can like them if they want… No need to be judging each other over that
It’s really not that deep…. The drama is not even that serious for some of you to be so annoyed with people…
If you don’t take the story seriously it’s easy to not care. I think most of those villain fans here just don’t care about those things you listed I don’t know what to tell you… If you just enjoy watching the “hot evil guy scenes” can’t that be enough justification for liking the character???
It’s really not that deep…. The drama is not even that serious for some of you to be so annoyed with people…
Ooh I get that there are some people like that that actually like serial killers etc BUT the average kdrama watcher here that simply likes Byeon Woo Seok does not equate to them… Just because those weirdos are so far gone or chronically online they cannot distinguish reality from fiction and treat everything as entertainment does not mean that we cannot do same!?! Like we just like the actor it’s that simple as I said….
The pretty privilege if a villain is handsome and pretty they’re gonna get 30 girls defending them online💀…
It’s really not that deep…. The drama is not even that serious for some of you to be so annoyed with people liking the bad guy… like I promise you that does not reflect people’s real life views
There is literally nothing in this drama that makes any sense. The emotional attachment between characters are…
True for a drama so focused on the family they rarely do anything with Namsoon trying to connect with them… Like the father was the one who lost her and was really close with her and she took so long after she was found out to go on a dinner with him and they haven’t interacted since.. It’s like yeah she found her family so now everything in that storyline is solved as if she had never left them
Good thing he is a !!fictional character!! and he will never be able to do that
Lmao I’m simply replying to what you said “wouldn’t you hate him if he tried to kill your family” in which I said no cause he is not real Also why does him being the bad guy makes it a necessity to hate him?? Real life and fictional stories are two different things… no I do not care he tried to kill Namsoon’s mom I don’t even like her character and I also knew there was no way in hell the drama would actually kill her
How much was the Japan side of things actually involved tho? I do know Oda contributed in stuff like casting choices but the final product is such an americanised version I can’t see it as anything other than an English show (Not to say that as a bad thing I really liked the show, it just doesn’t fit here in my opinion)
The way the family always uses their powers in public without a concern of them being found out (especially the grandma) it should have been somewhat known by now that they have powers. Didn’t the fake daughter use that to convince the mother she was the real daughter????? I don’t get how Ryu Shi Oh would not figure out she was Nam soon only out of that… But ooh well let’s say it’s apparently a “secret” about the mother/grandma. Anyways I don’t even know why I’m trying to make sense of this of course the villain will not be able to realise that easily the plans of the protagonists and of course Nam soon is apparently so good at acting and being undercover he has still not figure her out. Not to say that I am routing for his “evil plans” to succeed or whatever I just wish for him to be more aware than that as he is only interesting part in the drama.
Honestly I expected the time travel elements to be more nonsensical and the plot to become really messy by the end because of this. Time travel is a really tricky consept after all..... I can say though the plot was more well done than I expected! It took a bit of convincing at first as I was not completely feeling the story but it did pick up at one point and the ending also landed pretty well with me. Only thing I can say was meeh was the bad guy to me he felt crazy for the sake of being crazy and when doing whatever he did, doing it because the plot said so... Overall really good I enjoyed it.
bestie its literally a time travel show, its not meant to be taken all that seriously except for the family parts
Bestie I get it I have seen many time travel plots before... I’m just saying it was annoying having the protagonist go “ajumma ajumma, it really is you I can’t believe it” out loud and to her face for 2 mins he should know to not do that… and literally so many more of his interactions after he time travels especially with his dad. And you can totally have lighthearted comedy that does not go overboard with serious moments in it most k dramas have comedy. Personally it does work for me and distracts from the overall story but if your fine with it that’s ok
The first half of the drama was actually soooo good…. I really like how realistic it feels with the characters hanging out, dating, drinking etc like normal people and I also liked the romance again it felt more realistic than typical k-drama plot where the couple cannot even hold hands without blushing or to sleep on the same bed is unthinkable/ a huge issue….
(Some spoilers here read with caution) The second half drags reaaally bad and ruins the overall show to a degree…. There was no reason to have so many episodes and there was no reason to have a second lead in the first place. They should have only focused on the main romance and the side characters they had established in the beginning and it would have been fine. But you have them broken up and barely interacting until the end meanwhile developing a whole new storyline with the second lead it all feels like a different show… most of what made the first eps interesting is not there anymore and it just becomes super boring.
I still really like the first 4/5 episodes while the rest is not really worth the watch (if anyone has a recommendation similar to this drama please share it)
woah woaaah I didn't realise that many people did not like the show?? Yes it has a very typical k drama plot but it is still enjoyable. Not boring, not dragging (at least not until the last episodes but many k-dramas are like that). If anything it is worth watching just for Rowoon... If you are here for a simple romance with a goodlooking ml it's a perfectly nice watch.
It’s ok to watch if you skip many parts of the story… As some other people I’m mostly watching for the villain character. I’m not sure what they were thinking with the casting choices tbh…Why did they have to make him hot like did they not expect viewers would be preferring him over the boring ml???
I wanted to like this so much as the concept of the story is really interesting and it has the potential for a really emotional and heartfelt watch…. If I’m being honest tho the “funny” and silly moments drag the quality of the show really down for me and I just can’t take the story as seriously because of that. It’s just so annoying how embarrassingly and stupidly the protagonist acts almost all of the the time creating constant misunderstandings that are not funny at all. It just makes no sense… Is it so hard to act like a normal person?? Like we get it he is from the future but they don’t know that (and he knows they don’t know) so why act so weirdly in front of them ALL THE TIME… And they just tolerate his behaviour and even warm up to him overtime??? I can’t help but feel this was written with a younger audience at mind cause how else am I supposed find this unnecessary silliness enjoyable and take the overall story with the same seriousness as some other k-dramas. It is a shame really….
