Finally decided to give this show a shot. Love the romance and think both couples have great chemistry. I really like Song Hye Kyo's character and Song Joong Ki is sooo swoony in this. There are some ridiculous and unrealistic scenes in relation to the military/political/medical backdrop but I just turn my brain off for those parts. Couldn't care less about the Argus storyline (cringey english acting in those scenes is not helping lol) but I do really love seeing our main quartet on screen and will happily keep watching for them.
SO good!!! I was reluctant to watch this since I was a bit disappointed with Reply 1994, but I'm sooooo glad I decided to give it a try. Amazing ensemble cast where you end up loving each and every character. All the stories were so touching. I also looked up in advance who the husband was to save myself the angst lol. The main romance isn't that important or heavily featured compared to the previous "Reply" seasons so knowing in advance doesn't really matter.
wow an article gushing over how great KHJ is was not something I expected to see on the homepage. I'm shocked and disgusted that MDL allowed this to be published. This sort of piece belongs on a personal blog.
Lots of laugh out loud moments in this for me! So many hilarious misunderstandings. I preferred the first half to the later episodes but it wrapped up nicely. My only complaint would be how they handled Kang Chul's storyline. I found the way they dealt with his sexuality a bit messy and felt like the quick fix and turnaround at the end was unsatisfying. Overall a good drama though!
Great drama!! Ji Sung's acting alone is enough reason to watch this! Hwang Jung Eum was a bit annoying (and shrieky!) at the beginning but once she calmed down it was all good. Things veered a little too far into the melodrama side of things in the last quarter for my personal taste but overall I loved watching this. Yo Na~!
SO SO GOOD. I binge watched the whole thing. This is my favourite kind of show with a perfect mix of drama, romance, action, mystery and suspense. I've seen the lead couple in other roles before but this is my favourite for both of them. Great chemistry!! and I fell hard for JCW in this...sooo hot!
Wasn't expecting a totally happy ending but I still found it kinda unsatisfying. I also thought the storytelling and plot was getting a bit convoluted towards the end. Overall great drama and enjoyed all the suspense!
Love the actors so much. I had high expectations with Park Bo Young and Lee Jong Suk headlining so I was a bit let down. Movie is rather average and the storyline never really pulled me in. There were some funny and sweet moments but overall it was just okay.
I was hesitant because of the age gap but the leads have amazing chemistry and the actors are so convincing in their roles! Not too interested in the company politics to be honest but I'm invested in the romance.
What's bothering me lately is how inconsistent some of the characterizations are. I don't mind if characters go…
One point where I felt confused was when she returned to the palace... I couldn't tell if she was slowly falling in love with the emperor or merely revenge driven. I don't care either way but the motivations were unclear to me and it seems that was a common point for many commenters here too. Perhaps it was a poor translation issue. Thing are bound to get lost in translation!
What's bothering me lately is how inconsistent some of the characterizations are. I don't mind if characters go from being good to evil or vice versa but it has to be believable with some sort of build up :/ Especially with Nyang I feel like it's kinda been all over the place. She's the main character but her motivations are still a mystery to me sometimes. Still dying to know how they will conclude this though. The end is near!
I'm glad the show ended on a high note. I found the last episode way more interesting than the few leading up to it. The show started off great but turned out to be super predictable. Shin Joo Yeon's ignorance was also dragged out for too long. Still worth the watch though for Sung Joon as the dreamy Wan. Watch if you're looking for a fluffy breezy romance.
GAH too many fake outs with the kisses. Why do you tease us so? D:
To be honest the plot and much of the writing is lazy and predictable but I keep coming back each week for Sung Joon as Wan. I want to see his happy ending!
I thought the show was starting to drag during the time when Nyang was a servant but now that she's returned to the palace with purpose it's gotten really interesting again. But good god is the empress ever a hateful character. I kinda felt sorry for her at the beginning of the show but now I really cannot stand her. Can't wait for the moment when she loses her position of power.
SUNG JOON! <3 gah just love his voice and gaze. Liking Kim So Yeon as the heroine too. So far so good! I've always appreciated the INR series for their frank depiction of dating, sex and relationships. Just seems more realistic and true to life.
A bit slow but the lead couple have great chemistry. I loved how he looked at her all smiles at the end of ep 6. He looked so naturally smitten it gave me the warm and fuzzies. The stuff regarding his company problems is pretty boring though. Hopefully it picks up now that they've decided to work together.
To be honest I'm disappointed in this show. It started off wonderfully but it was really too long and the episodes…
I love his character. I was just disappointed with how they built up this supposed crush on Trash and then at the last minute have him end up with this wife from nowhere. Just seemed like poor handling of his character. But that's just my personal feelings on it.
To be honest I'm disappointed in this show. It started off wonderfully but it was really too long and the episodes being almost 1.5 hours long really started to drag by the end. I was hoping for a fresh story but everyone ended up with their first loves which I thought was a bit of rehash of 1997's story. I LOVED Trash's dorky character and I swooned a lot but their love story got boring by the end of it all. The "who is the husband" mystery became tiring and I was disappointed with how Binggeure's character was handled. I still enjoyed this show and it's filled with heartwarming and hilarious moments but I think the length of it hurt it in the end. 1997's execution was tighter and Sung Shi Won is still my favourite leading lady :)
Great film!!! I want to start by saying I have no previous exposure to the manga or anime and went into this with completely new eyes so I'm critiquing it as a stand alone.
This is my first time seeing Sato Takeru in a leading role and he really nailed it. I was completely drawn in by his character. Action was thrilling, shot beautifully and the score was lovely. My only complaint is that I wish Kaoru's character was a bit less of a damsel in distress. I loved her when she was first introduced but as the film progressed I kept wishing she was given a more active role. I'm assuming Kaoru is much more fleshed out in the source material so I hope to see her possess a greater sense of agency in the next films.
