I'm only on episode 30, but as far as I understand it: Nihuang is not a princess, but a duchess (bec. some episodes are subbed with princess, some with duchess) and she is not related to the emperer by blood, but her family is very influental in Yunnan and she is also a really good general (or something^^), so the emperor is, of course, very interested in their family - he also keeps her brother as "hostage" when he sends her away, so that she won't betray him and the kingdom ... as for the marriage, I'm not sure, but I think that the emperor wants to use her as a political pawn in oder to strengthen political ties (and back in those times, women were expected to marry, so that makes sense, even if she is a military leader and a duchess)

Ah, you are watching Six Flying Dragons too, MinaVIP? I am watching it as well and yes, it's completely different, but I really love both dramas a lot :D
But I guess it's true that we are just not used to people flying around, but I don't really care ... if the story is good, people can walk on their hands for all I care^^

haha, many Chinese dramas have that "flying" xD ... I always have to laugh as well, but I've come to accept it as a part of Chinese dramas :D (although not all dramas have that) .... but yeah, it spoils serious moments bc it's just too funny^^

I agree, this drama could use at least another 4 episodes (or more) ... there are some really boring dramas out there with 16-24 episodes and I really don't get why those dramas got so many episodes and such a great drama as this one only ends up with 12

Haha I'm totally suffering from this at the Moment because I've just finished watching Dong Yi and it was sooo good :) ... so I tried something different and now I'm watching Bluebird House and I like it a lot, but sadly I have to wait for the Subs every week^^

Queen Seon Deok - Seo Hwa to Deokman ... she was not her biological mother but it was really touching how she did everything for Deokman and also sacrificed her life for Doekman's, not because she was ordered to (well at first maybe) but because she genuinely loved her.

one other thing ... poor people always wear fashionable clothes and accessoires and use expensive mobile phones and they always were different clothes :D

My best friend is from Turkey and she told me about the BOF "remake" ... she also said that it is different but I really want to check it out if it is out there with subtitles, I think I have to look if there are any.

Great article, all of my favorite Japanese actors/actresses are among them :) The problem is ... there are so many great (and handsome/beautiful^^) actors, so it's really hard to choose.
