I only saw Xin Yun Lai in modern drama and apparently, he didn't play in historical drama before this one because, behind the scenes, he couldn't land properly from flying with wires LOL he's so afraid not unlike the professional actors of wuxia and xianxia dramas who fly on wires all the time
I like how this drama sticks to its genere without forcing fan service small plots in it I know most of wang Yibo's fans want to see him the lovey-dovey boy with the female lead or others want some sort of bromance with the male lead but I see he improved a lot as an actor and I feel his character's emotions really well also the plot is raw and not easy on the eyes so this drama is excelling in my opinion, it's not fan pleaser, it's unique in its own genera
i know romance isn't compulsory in every drama but it will be an absolute waste if there won't be anything going…
Actually in my opinion , I see it would be forced if there is romance between them now may be later on if the story allows it but not now because it would turn into love disputes and romantic drama not a story about success in business at hard times
As Bromance drama goes , it's okay but as detective drama it's not very smart and the acting was lacking from Xin Yun Lai he wasn't at the same caliper as Zhang Ye cheng
It's good friendship detective drama but not the best I subbed it to Arabic for arab fans but I didn't quite enjoyed it as other bromance dramas I didn't want BL either it's just the other male lead is quite lacking against Zhang Ye Cheng It could have had better ending also it had some very stupid plot holes
Still the communism propaganda , the torture and the usual republican era dramas tropes exist in this drama and that doesn't mean it's bad watch , it's good watch because of wang yibo's acting and the plot in general also saying that because I want to say it and to hell with every troll trying to intimidate me or chase me away from this page I'm entitled to express my opinion freely and you have to deal with it if it doesn't offend you personally or just skip my comment all together but to tell me to stop watching or mock my comments like a jerk that's just embarrassing yourself
