I don't know about others but for me Zhang Ling He's character of Marquis reminds me of Wu Lei's character from Love Like the Galaxy. Both are fierce warrior, cold for everyone but for their love interest they are both the cinnamon rolls. Caring and protective. Everytime I see his character here in POJ it is like seeing zi sheng all over again.

Mrs. Fan's slap scenes have a different fan base altogether.

I guess the choppy editing is nothing but some weird censorship and guidelines of gov. to shorten the time per episode. It really looks like someone did a last minute job to stick with the airing schedule. But nobody really cares for that. Only final result matters and that editing would be the reason why it would be skipped by many viewers just after watching one or two episodes.

Try Pyramid game, Save me, Dear X, study group, Sky castle. I have few other recommendations but they are not korean shows. If you want something really intense and more like squid games then I would highly recommend Alice in borderland.

It is based on a novel. I haven't read it but I think it is pretty close to the original work. The story didn't only revolve around romance arc but showcased their growth. So that is the reason for length. It is more 'slice of life' type of drama which encompasses pretty much everything of a normal life.

Let me clarify their pov: FL had feelings for SML but he always had this inferiority complex because she belongs to an affluent family. Probably thought he would first become someone who couldn't be looked down upon, only then he would accept her but the World doesn't wait for his success. Plus there is another female character who pretty much had similar feelings of inferiority towards her and instead of really pursuing SML she always remained ambiguous and made it look as if FL is coming between her and SML. She never clarified anything just gave vague answers whenever asked and made FL always look bad in friend circle. So in simple terms they are both jealous of FL who is born with silver spoon and for them whatever she does is lackluster and she had this happy go lucky attitude because she hasn't seen the struggles like them.

You can say that again and that is generally the case with every single kdrama ML excluding a few. Usually the more mature/calm/caring one considered SML and rarely gets the girl, despite his unyealding and self sacrificial personality. That won't hit the mark with the audience. And we are talking about a core fanbase which really idealise that sort of personality (like ML) Maybe not in reality but especially on screen. But the fact that it is ubiquitous as such soap Opera/mukbangs/daily soap etc are filled with these characters. Tbh he wasn't set as a gentleman atleast for me from the get go. He was sort of a jerk from the beginning 😅. The way he used her for his purpose in episode 1. His childhood trauma is there as well where he never liked anyone because of his mother's traumatic past. Now after so many yrs he found himself with someone he really liked. He used to hate relationships, if we consider that part then his shock is five folds more than a usual character, to find he was "manipulated" for money by this woman. It is not a justification for the behaviour but I think this is where the writers are coming from. The whole concept of revenge and enemy to lover trope.

Well if we really look it that way then nothing makes sense tbh. In real life nobody gets a job like that. Atleast from where I am, there is so much redtapism that nobody can use such methods to get a job. Another point is the stupid coincidence that ML and FL found themselves in and FL who was related to the client. But even if we let it all slide there is another coincidence that she got the job in the same company where her leader is ML (talk about a small world).
Now there is the point of power imbalance. I mean if we are really talking about office romance especially with a vast difference in the ranks/posts/roles there are high chances that it would not end up well. That is just old cliched trope of rich man poor woman plot. There are tonnes of dramas out there (the really big and popular ones) that still churn money out of that plot. And the relationship is purely the consequence of that. They are going for something that would make one laugh over it...maybe trying something new so that it wouldn't end up with same old jokes and stuff which we are inundated with especially in todays time. So you should really watch it with rose tinted, made in korea-glasses. It would be far better if you just throw the logic and reasoning out of the window and enjoy the stupid chaos. Because only then you will be able to watch any kdrama of this genre. But that is just my perspective especially after watching so many dark/serious dramas that I kind of feel intrigued towards it and it is kinda breath of fresh air for me.

You can say that again. I really don't get this 'disguised as a man' thing especially with such a voice (if we just ignore her physical apperance)...I mean they could have simply used someone with deeper voice and that mask as well! After using it for such a long time all she could get is a very designable tanned face... nothing else.

Now that explains why this story feels so cliche. I got the impression that it is the best selling novel in the country or something as mentioned in the credits.
