The show is funny. I love that Yimeng has become one of the dumb female leads she criticized so much. Usually, this bothers me, but knowing the drama is making fun of itself and other shows of its kind helps. She can be a little frustrating with her one track mind, but her actions are based on what she read from the script and, in that script, Nan Heng does make Yimeng go through hell and back.

In ep. 8, I felt a little bad for Nan Heng when Yimeng was retelling the story of the empress' death and he was getting visibly upset. Of course, having fallen into the trope of the dumb fl, she didn't notice. Also from what they showed, it seems like Chu Gui Hong might be related to the incident. But female lead only read parts of the script which were supposed to become iconic and she never got to the end of it, if I remember correctly.

I am having fun watching, but I am also eagerly awaiting for the shift in Nan Heng and Song Yimeng's dynamics and for her to realize the truth. Whatever that is.

This is soo good. I'm crossing my fingers it keeps it's momentum.

You need to understand they both made choices. It wasn't just him. Was he right for choosing her punishment instead of letting her fully face the consequences of her actions? Probably not. But they BOTH made choices.

This was a great read. However, I disagree with your conclusion. As a woman, I would have done the same thing BJS did. I would choose myself, especially if I had already warned the other person many times over. Even then, I don't believe he chose himself and if he did go take some punishment on her behalf, that's not something I would have done.

That doesn't excuse her breaking the promise. He had been telling her for decades that there are consequences, and she didn't listen. She has herself to blame. Does it suck for her? Yes, but choices were made from both sides , she chose to break the rules while he chose to stick to them, and these are the consequences.

I agree. She was warned and I would have respected her more had she accepted those were the consequences of her actions. Does it suck she suffered? Yes, but it's not like she was ignorant that there would be consequences.
