While he does soften up towards her as the story progresses, he tends to lean towards violence when he doesn't like something she does, like when she makes him feel things, or wants to keep her at arm's length. That's just his character flaw and, to a certain point, it's understandable because he has led a hard, tragic, and loveless life. Every character in the story has their "good" and "bad" traits.

I think people should be free to like who/whatever ship they want to like without distorting what was in the novel…
While CX solo shippers have not been condescending lately, at the beginning they were too. They have just been more quiet lately and Jing and XL solo shippers, especially the XL ones, became more "loud" as the drama progressed.

So, the only one who hasn't been patronizing/condescending among the solo camps is the FL shipper wherever she/he/them is.
