Honestly, this will fall on deaf ears, or blind eyes. So many people have quoted the novel and explained the situation/events time and time again and they still they say he is useless and worthless. After the wedding, XL told XY Jing had asked him to stop the wedding, so she goes to his house. There they talk and XY cooks up a plan to get Hou and FFYY to meet again (they had stopped meeting to cover their tracks and there was no other evidence since Hou's wife had been murdered). So once, XY's plan works FFYY asks to meet Hou in their secret place and the gorilla mirror records their conversation.

It hurt too much knowing someone she loved dearly could hurt her in that way. So her revenge was kind of going to be poisoning him enough that he can be saved if found on time, but her actually dying. I hope the drama shows it, but XY loses all will to live after Jing's death.

It should be shortly after the infamous wedding. And yes, he was very sick because his heart was broken. I don't know if they will show it in the drama, because they didn't show how dirty he felt after he was drugged, but they both were experiencing the same depression.
