I've mentioned this before several times; not all types of love are appropriate! and this story is a perfect example. Hyeon Jae's feelings stemmed from a place of severe emotional negligence and trauma. the teacher was having an identity crisis as well as family dysfunction because he kept running away from his problems. Both men need to heal and grow emotionally before they can have a relationship.

tbh think about the life he would've had if he was "cured" He Yao's obsession with him would've destroyed them both and guilt would've eaten him alive just thinking about the suffering He Yao would've caused just to cure him. they were both doomed from the beginning. Have you watched Nour yet?

let me tell you the ENTIRE resident evil saga was circling around the idea that once a "cure" or a vaccine is developed, it was all going to end up being a cash cow for big pharma that'swhy they're all fightingto get the immune body. I'm sure you see the resemblance with the covid 19 pandemic. Chang Huan eventually figured that out the hard way after He Yao went crazy and started exploiting Lin Zai. that's how he wanted to end it all. one thing that I wanted you to understand from a scientific pov is that once brain cells are damaged, it's almost impossible to restore them, therefore, even in fiction they can't sell it to the audience that zombification is reversible. However, as this story went on, the writers wanted us to root for Chang Huan to be "cured" but at the same time they also wanted to show us the "cost" of keeping this false hope. I too wanted him to live but slowly realised it would've been impossible
