At a 7.6 at MDL this one is hugely underrated. My take is a 9/10
This drama is an interesting mix of a strong emotional story, business and succession themes, romance drama, birth secrets etc.Has all the classic elements that don't appear much nowadays and tops it up with breathtaking imagery ,awesome OST for most part of the show.
Ji Sung,Jung Kang Ryul,Yoo Oh Sung standout with their superb performances. It was refreshing to see a show featuring such solid actors after a while..Other actors also lend great support where needed..Sung Yu ri,though pretty, struggles to compete with other members of the ensemble .
I have issues with the ending but the charm the show has is undeniable..If you liked Baker Kim Tak Gu and like classic style melodrama with great visuals and locations (Jeju,Cirque de soleil,Las Vegas,,Africa) you shouldn't miss it
I don't see this version following the Jdrama version fully.Story would be a very difficult sell and nothing in the Lead actor and PD earlier dramas shows any possibility of such a dark tale from them..
I was on a sort of Lee seung gi trip after "My Girlfriend is a Gumiho" and came across this purely by chance.Am not a big fan of politics but the setting in an alternate fantasy reality where S Korea still has a King intrigued me and made me give it a go.
I was surprised by the well written and crisp scenes, superb lead performances and an awesome supporting cast .There are love stories-but this has epic love stories set against very high stakes.Among my earliest Kdramas and I found the mix of action, romance, intrigue really good.Made me a big fan of Lee Seung Gi and have seen that he has a knack of picking up superb stories.
Do watch this. You will end up pondering over many of the problems countries face today
Kdramas also frequently use themes from "The count of Monte Cristo" the post popular revenge novel ever (e.g..Green Rose,Goddbye Mr.Black,Joseon Gunman)
Had held off this for a long time due to the low ratings .Finally, started this as had liked Song Yoon Ah In The K2 (more than the actual female lead!) and gave it a go
You have to see the show to believe it's impact. The Journey of the lead character Jin Sang Pil (played by Jung Jae Young with utmost sincerity) from a welder to a National assembly man is inspirational all the way .You become invested in his struggle to survive in the aseembly and all the characters (even the minor ones) leave an impact..Exceptionally well written and moving scenes and beautiful moving speeches from JSP at crucial times make this an utterly memorable show
Also liked that they didn't go for any romance angle with the leads (JSP is already married) but strive at a comradeship /partnership which is what happens in real life many a times.
If you like well written shows with a great underdog story performed with a lot of heart ,go for it..
I have seen Daemul and found it impressive-this moved me a lot more..The story is so good
i love love loveee junho and jung hye sung but i'm not keen on nam goong min like at alll so i'm torn as to whether…
To put it simply,You should watch this if you like Kdramas.Nam Gung Min and Junho are a blast in this.Tbis was the funniest Kdrama I had seen till recently, when Eulachahcha Waikiki took over.
The show is more a satirical look on corporate Korea. You can avoid if romance is all you are looking for (there is a hint for Junho but not followed through)
Not a fan of Ghost/Horror themed shows. The only reason i'll see this is due to Park Si Hoo,one of the more underrated actors presently. He somehow makes each show of his watchable (For eg.never thought I'd like a show like Cheongdamdong Alice but he just was superlative in it and lifted up the entire show!)
How did Ji Sung manage to take this role? It's the complete opposite of him! I didn't even know he had decline…
He had said in an interview that he wanted to do something lighter compared to Defendant-which was quite dark..
As for the theme and character in this show,I think he wanted to experiment -he is one of the most versatile actors around in Korea and could have wanted to play a role that is out of his comfort zone.
actually, the show relaxes me. even with all the drama or the problems they encounter.. i still feel relaxed after…
Yes,it is relaxing..A rare show whose plot is about people facing some tough everyday struggles with grace.Maybe I relate to this quite a bit as have always felt that cleanliness and order helps you to think clearly. All the problems in the show are solved by those facing them-with a nudge in the right direction from the house helper.
Utterly big mindbender of a show for most of its duration-and that is its beauty. It loses steam in its resolution-possibly due to episodes being reduced-but what a ride!
One of the best shows in the suspense thriller genre.Chung Jung Myung is superb as the male lead and Kim So Hyun was also superb in her role..
Stuck to this till now.The only show that keeps me coming back week after week presently.A show that does not lay any stress on you and provides great lessons in each ep.Truly unique series and lot of credit is due to Han Seok Jin,supporting cast and overall direction.

A new adaptation will be really good.
