Oh,There are many.. 1. Spectacular production design ( sets are gorgeous). Especially liked the camerawork in the rowing scene, His first entry in the parrallel world on a busy road etc
2. Story filled with twists and that they are willing to go dark 3. Superb supporting cast and their characters (including Maximus) 4. A badass female lead who doesnt need protection 5. A male.lead who has potential for great development 6. One of the best kind of first meetings as per me (She saved him when he was a kid !) 7. Lee Min Ho is superb both as a regal king and a pompous character spouting goofy lines. 8. LEE JUNG JIN-One of the best villains in a long time. 9. Great OSTs 10. Brilliant epic feel
While it is good to have such a fated encounter i dont think there is any such rule. These are just different creative choices.I remember many dramas where romance developed very late and they are quite good dramas.
Anytime i start thinking that the writer is slowing things down,i get an instant rush of emotions ..Done with ep 16 /32 and mark my words,you dont want to binge this show..Most of the emotional moments are so good and unpredictable,the writer and the PD of the drama are a superb team and the lead actors are just phenomenal. This is romantic thriller drama done right.

Glad you brought DOTS here..I remember being utterly lukewarm to their chemistry as the plot was pedestrian but grew to like them as the story progressed.If you see KES dramas,it is the second couple which is far more epic,IMO (Secret Garden, Goblin, DOTS)

Not all dramas /writers/viewers are the same We all have different likes and I dont expect anyone to watch what they dont like You may not like this drama's opening episodes but i do ,so there..
Lack of Chemistry does doom romances for failure..But did you think the writer wants the development at a later stage ? Focus is the villain and his plans at this stage..Also the heroine is a cynical character -It will be an epic romance..

May be your opinion..I dont think Netflix is as stupid as to spend money on useless projects..This is a Top show on Netflix for some good reasons ,not just bcos LMH stars in it. Also,LMH is playing a character -you may or may notnlike it -but thats what you get..Secret Garden had one of the most obnoxious MLs ever but that clicked.. Lets wait
IMO Anyone who doesnt like the romance in this either expects too much too early or thinks this is a 2 hour movie..Only 3 eps are out so far..I remember King2hearts where the lead couple didnt click with me till ep 8 and then it was an awesome ride..

There is a slickness in this show which you can feel and it is worth watching on the biggest possible screen. Story is far more intriguing than Hwayugi..The writer is great in writing romance dramas..
