It is mostly plot heavy and FL role is in the background. She barely get like 5 min screentime and wasn't even in first 4-5 episodes. She is very likable for me and we still have to see what role she will play in the story so too early to judge her character
Finally caught up. It is getting very complicated and i am loving it. Pacing is perfect but there are so many mysteries so i hope it doesn't feel rushed at the end and it stays consistent. My favorite part about this drama is definitely the world of Dafeng and how alive each character feels

Now that you mentioned this, i kinda agree with you on one thing that this whole misunderstanding sub plot could have been avoided because we can see this development of mc without misunderstanding part. However, if i see it from female pov, then maybe it was written for her growth and not necessarily for his and because many people are not interested in her and care more about XQA (reasonable) so it feels unnecessary? I personally still don't think it's completely unnecessary but let's see how it goes. I have to catch up quickly now so i can join all discussions without worrying about spoilers lol

Ep 10 thoughts: This whole misunderstanding plot point actually feels necessary and setup for main leads to grow. Knowing he has backing of someone powerful, Xu Qi An is able to freely question his higher up without realizing that it is actually him who is so impressive that they follow his lead and not because of someone's backing. This is something he wouldn't have tried himself but this helped him to express his thoughts but i also think he is being careless and reckless because of this so interesting to see where it goes. For second princess, idk where story will go but this is just my guess. I don't think she is dumb at all and actually kinda clever but also mischievous (like XQA) but maybe because everyone degrades her and compare her with grand princess so nobody has realized what she is actually good at and maybe we will slowly see how instead of trying to be something else, she should be confident about herself and earn respect of others in her own silly ways. This is just my prediction and it can go completely opposite but i am still dumping my thoughts here

I am bad at dropping shows too. Recently finished meteor garden just for wang hedi otherwise that show has many problems. I only took break from tteotm because FL was annoying me. I am only 4 episodes in but it's really fun so far. I think i will adore the family dynamic the most in this show. The start is slow but very refreshing. This happened with me too. I watched LBFAD and wanted to watch something similar to get over my obsession with this drama so started TTEOTM because everyone told me it is "mature" or better version of LBFAD. At first i liked it because mc is very sympathetic character but i wasn't enjoying the toxicity and gave up on ep 11 when dream arc started. I also don't think just because a show is lighthearted and more fairytale romance (LBFAD) then it's not that deep or only a dark show can be deep lol so i agree with your comment a lot
