Tbh I used to be like this too initially but watching this made me realize that sometimes we have to try things outside of our comfort zone and this was an eye opener for me. Now, i am more in mood to try something similar instead of just romance focused stories (not a bad thing but i want something different after watching this)

She will eventually grow on you (i hope so) when you catch up to latest episode

Plus, not all female characters are for love interest or weak. Some are good fighters and has interesting role in the plot

Why rating the episodes necessary?

Ahh makes sense. Is there a cdrama which is more plot-heavy and romance is side plot but still a major hit both domestically and internationally?
I think GOTD is still doing very good in china but i am not sure how well it is doing internationally because it is still ongoing and many are waiting for it to finish and then they will start

Yeah i agree with your comment. I liked it from the start but ep 10 onwards i was completely hooked. It's interesting because I am a new cdrama watcher and this is my first male-centric drama. It surprised me with its quality but i don't see enough discussions about it on different platforms whereas there are some cdramas i watched because of hype of actresses and their cp but the story was mediocre at best. I guess people just love supporting their favorite and don't care about stories much

Am i the only one who thinks this show is kinda underappreciated on this site?
Maybe because it doesn't focus on romance and hype cp content plus more male centric that is not everyone's cup of tea
For me, each ep is so much packed and consistently good. I am amazed how easily it makes me cry and then next moment i am laughing.

I am so glad Grand princess actually cares for Lin'an and the scriptwriters didn't make her evil to show how good FL is. They both are great in their own ways so i hope we see more of them getting closer slowly.

Ep 21: The actress who played Lin an's character did such a good job. I haven't watched her other dramas before this but i am honestly becoming her fan. She made me emotional at the end of the episode

It is mostly plot heavy and FL role is in the background. She barely get like 5 min screentime and wasn't even in first 4-5 episodes. She is very likable for me and we still have to see what role she will play in the story so too early to judge her character

Finally caught up. It is getting very complicated and i am loving it. Pacing is perfect but there are so many mysteries so i hope it doesn't feel rushed at the end and it stays consistent. My favorite part about this drama is definitely the world of Dafeng and how alive each character feels

I just reached that part too. I love the servant role and the way she handled XQA for FL

I am so excited. How is this drama adaptation as compare to novel?

Ep 15 was such a masterpiece ep. Left me speechless and emotional. I love this show
Edit: Also i forgot to mention how much i adore his aunt and what she did in this ep

Initially i thought i will get bored with the plot but man this is so intriguing and engaging. With the whole realm sect introduction, it is slowly becoming complicated and i am enjoying that. I love how over the top XQA is but i fear he will get in trouble soon if he keep playing both sides

Finally someone who doesn't ignore mc doing these tricks and only criticizing FL for it. XQA literally kidnapped people (servants) to capture Zhou Li for his personal reasons. He isn't perfect and similarly FL also has flaws for her selfish reasons

Now that you mentioned this, i kinda agree with you on one thing that this whole misunderstanding sub plot could have been avoided because we can see this development of mc without misunderstanding part. However, if i see it from female pov, then maybe it was written for her growth and not necessarily for his and because many people are not interested in her and care more about XQA (reasonable) so it feels unnecessary? I personally still don't think it's completely unnecessary but let's see how it goes. I have to catch up quickly now so i can join all discussions without worrying about spoilers lol

She is not even bad for me so far. Well i haven't caught up so can't say fully anything until i watch all remaining episodes. Maybe i will agree with you guys later on but so far she is completely normal and i enjoy her inclusion
