they would rather ruin a perfect drama than let time travel/transmigration be a real thing wow
Exactly, I’m quite upset. Haven’t watched the ending yet but I can already guess based on all the comments below. The drama is so good, but the ending just gotta ruin it.

Question for novel readers - is the plot heavy on angst? I love fantasy dramas which tend to be more angst like Till the end of the moon, Ten miles of peach blossom etc, so wondering if this will be something similar. TIA!

Don't know why, especially since they didn't remove snippets of it from their official trailers for the episode.…
Thank you! I was watching from the official channel and didn’t realised there’s more to that scene!

Agreed. The ML feels kinda 2D at this point. Limited character development, barely any action scenes for a supposedly…
Yea, really illogical writing in this middle arc. Sad that the drama degraded so much from the first arc. Such wasted potential.

i’m not there yet but i saw a spoiler and one of the biggest thing they changed in the later ep is how when…
Precisely, he’s like a 2D character at this point. Just there to simp for FL. What a wasted potential.

There are only 7 eps left, and there’s still so much to unfold. Xie Zheng is portrayed as a Marquis and a war…
Agreed. The ML feels kinda 2D at this point. Limited character development, barely any action scenes for a supposedly great general, and where’s his fleshed out backstory?! His backstory just seemed conveniently forgotten at this point.

And don’t get me started on the FL in the last few eps. So reckless and somehow she miraculously gets away with breaking military rules, knocking her commander out cold, getting distracted in the middle of war with prince changxin, finding time to group cry for Mandi with the ragtag crew in the heat of fighting, etc etc. so much plot holes and illogical writing in this middle arc.

I’m on episode 18 and idk it’s just not great.. yet? the cast is amazing, love the fl and ml, but it just…
I think the first village arc until ep 18 or so was the best part of this drama. I think it actually went downhill after the village massacre. ML barely had any action battle scenes - we audience were just being told that he’s a great general but barely shown any of his fight scenes in battle. If u don’t like it up till ep 18, u will probably not like it even more in the subsequent episodes. I watched up till ep 32 and will finish this drama when all the episodes come out, but I’m definitely not as excited as when the show was in the first arc.

I rated this show 9.5 in the beginning but it will probably go down to 8.5 or 8 for me, unless the final arc really improves tremendously compared to this middle arc.

Agreed, Exactly my sentiments!

I saw many in the comment section saying that everything happened faster in these 2 new eps and now I get why…
Yea agreed! except for that random girl cousin of Sui yuanqing who took up unnecessary screen time. her appearance was so random, and doesn’t move the story at all.

I feel really bad for Li Wenkan....Fan Changyu had no authority to knock him over like that....ik she means good…
Precisely! She wanted others to respect her decisions, but here she’s not respecting Li Huaian’s decision to continue fighting in the war and imposed what she thinks is best for him by knocking him out. I love changyu’s character in the drama but she should have respected his choice in this instance.

This drama is so good! I binged it all in 2 days! Why is the MDL rating so low with so few watchers.. honestly I didn’t even know abt this drama until my dad (who’s super picky with dramas) told me that the plot is really good, a very very rare compliment from someone picky like my dad. Pls watch it everyone! The first 2 eps may be a little boring but it gets soooo much better after that.

Great pacing and plot twists, amazing character development for the leads and well fleshed out villains, good acting all around and a good ending!

Title The Truth
The summary above promises complex bizarre cases, with the drama genre categorised as thriller and mystery.. but why do the cases have such limited screen time?? The drama seems to focus more on their personal lives, which I felt wasn’t well integrated into the drama either. I can’t seem to connect with the characters, and honestly don’t care abt their personal lives. The drama is like half baked - limited focus on cases which wasn’t intense enough, and their personal lives were not engaging at all. The drama can’t seem to decide what genre it wants to be... I was expecting a good thriller with more focus on cases like Under the Skin, or the more recent The Truth Within, but this is not it.

Has any of Cheng Yi costume drama ever have a happy ending?
Watch Love and Redemption. Very satisfying happy ending. It’s my favourite cheng yi’s drama.

So I stopped at episode 18 and based on comments on the remaining episodes and the ending, I think I really don't need to continue this drama. Don't want to waste my time on such a letdown. What a shame cause I was enjoying the initial episodes.
On Sword and Beloved Nov 5, 2025
I’ll put this on hold until the ending comes out. I’m only at episode 18, and wow.. the comments for the next 10 episodes are really negative. Will only come back to watch this drama if the ending is good, otherwise can’t be bothered to waste hours of my life on subplot fillers, frustrating villains who never die and a shitty ending. Ngl, I’m sad cause I love CY and LYT but the plot is just too damn frustrating.

The FSMM series is cursed, didn’t the scriptwriters learn anything from the flop of the first 2 instalments..?
On Sword and Beloved Nov 5, 2025
Sad that this drama is faltering. I’m only at ep 18 and the comments here don’t bode well. Started strong with good plot and character development, but somehow the drama is getting really draggy and going downhill. I love a good antagonist in dramas, but here the antagonists are sooo frustratingly annoying.

And why does the good people just stand around, giving space to let the antagonist Jingting talk and talk…spewing lies, and influence the Qiyi alliance people? Jingting did so much talking while the good people just stand there being framed and accused, like what..?! And then when finally Jingting’s true colors were revealed when Fugui came back to rescue his dad, they still didn’t kill him off....

I like CY and LYT but I’m so close to dropping this drama.

Since there is a lot of comparison Real opinion- I dont know if people will hate on this but I honestly feel that…
I’m watching and enjoying both dramas. But prefer this to moonlit reunion. Generally i like more angsty dramas, so this is more up my alley. Different preferences I guess.
