I believe the poster was saying that the "Wifey and hubby" calling in Thai BLs are toxic view of an actual gay relationship because their sexual position is a private matter and the position doesn't make someone a "man" and a "woman". And the being a top doesn't make someone "manly" and neither does making someone a bottom makes them weak and feminine.

They're also saying that the BL genre implement a lot of sexual harassment and rape scenes and then sell it off as "Hot series for LGBQT community" and as some emotional portrayal of a gay relationship.

"Wifey" and "Hubby" naming is not just emasculating but also misogynistic. They're basically implying the submissive one, the weaker sex is females. And the one who is submissive in a gay relationship is the same as a woman. It's a terrible aspect of Thai BLs. And as a part of LGBT community, I find the spread of these stereotypical views very toxic.

I don't see how her self deprecation and insecurity relates to her view of Tum being gay. It doesn't make sense whatsoever. Insecure people end up guarding themselves and rebuffing interests? Definitely. But doing it by shoving the view that the guy who's showing interest in you is gay? Baloney.

Yes. I remember the show was supposed to come out in early 2019 or something but it kept getting postponed and it had production problems or something.

It actually felt offensive to me. How she was forcing her idea of him being gay on him. You can't just force someone to be gay (or straight). I agree, their storyline is unneeded and the show would be better off without them.

I actually don't think his storyline is superfluous or duplicated by Gene/Sib's parents. Like Gene/Sib have good parents, whereas Aey is completely detached and estranged from his and it feels like him being gay is not the reason for it either. Either way, yeah Aey is a really badly written character. The show could do without him to be honest. He's not really needed here.

Oh yes, agreed about that. Most of these shows resolve it really quick that it negates the depth of the topic they're handling. Points for trying, but wish they'd put in more effort.

It indeed was. Looks like my wish for GMMTV shows being progressive will not be fulfilled anytime soon because now they're perpetuating racist attitudes in their shows on the other hand. The latest episode of Fish Upon the Sky had a really racist, uncouth scene that left a terrible taste in my mouth.

That's what happened with S1 as well. It was supposed to come out like 1-2 years before it actually did.

Sometimes it makes me wonder about the maturity of MDL users who throw a fit over people not liking the same show as them even. It's like they are allergic to dissent in opinion.

Pathetic. The fact that he made the account private shows that he knows he did wrong but doesn't have the guts and maturity to apologise for it.

Agreed. The lower rating actually shows that even some fans of the actors didn't like this drama. Similarly, the show actually started out decently in SK, ranking 4th in viewership but the ratings went downhill throughout the show and by the last episode it was not even the top 5 most viewed show (the final two episodes ranked #9 in their respective nights, which is a very bad rating for a big show like this). People just didn't like it.

This website is full of fandoms who mass vote for their fave dramas or dramas starring their fave actors. So 7.8 is pretty low for their standard. Website like imdb has general people voting and reviewing the movies/tv shows, so the ratings end up being more objective. But for this website it's entirely subjective, so anything below 8 is considered mediocre.

For MDL the spectrum from what I've seen is:
5 - unwatchable | 6 - meh | 7 - average | 8 - good | 9 - great | 10 - Citizen Kane!

ML's dedicated to FL was top tier, sadly I couldn't feel the same love from FL. I don't think she really loved him, so the ending was all the more tragic in my view.

I mean I can understand why they thought the story was slow and dragged but their complaints on the costume, hair and make-up is just stupid because they were really good here. The art direction and hair/make-up & costume as a whole was very nicely done here. Those complaints I find juvenile and nonsensical.

Well written article. Albeit I don't think Sisyphus succeeded in anything other than creating a script that's right out of South Indian film making. It was a daring project and they failed to live up to the expectations for me. Even as early as episode 2, the screenplay was very wobbly and it just got worse after that and I eventually ended up dropping it in the end.

Similarly, I actually don't think Sisyphus opened doors for the Kdrama industry tbh In contrast, I think studios would instead be more hesitant to diverge and divulge into large project like this again because Sisyphus wasn't a big hit and in its domestic market it especially went downhill in its viewership with two of its final episodes ranking among its least watched episodes (the penultimate ep was the least watched episode). I think they expected this to be a huge hit and at the end of the day, it wasn't.

It's a shame because the trailer was VERY promising. It pulled me in. But the end product is so different.
