Well as someone who has read and seen Guardian, I can say the show doesn't resemble the book outside of the character names. And if the other shows are anything like Guardian, then they'll diverge from the book drastically as well. So you can see how you cannot judge Priest books through the shows. You have to read the books in order to get a good idea of how good it is.

I've only read and seen Guardian. The book is so good. I was highly disappointed by the bizarre changes they made to the show and I don't mean the removal of the gay romance but rather changing the whole background. The whole fantasy world built in the show made very little sense to me honestly and if not for the subtle flirting and the chemistry between the two main leads, I'd never have been able to finish it. Such a shame since the book was SO good. I really hope we'll see the Guardian book being adapted by a Taiwanese production company instead, they can do it justice.
