I agree LOL although jCW is so cute as a wimp haha
I actually have a question for you. Does Sungjae-HEJ have a romantic relationship in MPB? I hope not. But I wouldn't mind either way. I just need to know LOL

Agreed! Also SHINCHAN!!! LOL
lol I think the second lead appeared for what? 5 mins on the show. And didn't even show any romantic interest in anyone LOL

And yes!!!!!!!! Shinchan, the iconic character!!!!!

"—her character unfortunately becomes a doormat after the first two episodes. She’s gets belittled and ridiculed by certain scum buckets on the show and for the most part, she just accepts it :/ "

-> That's really disappointing. I hope she still gets more roles in the future after this. From the trailer it reminded me of the drama Daejangeum is Watching (the one starring SNSD's Yuri).

I watched Mystic Pop Bar ep 1. Really interesting. Han Eun Jung's feisty character was amazing. It's so refreshing to see female leads who don't take shet from anyone in Kdramas.

Cannot wait for this. PSH is one of my fave rising stars (alongwith Kim Sun Ho and Wi Ha Joon) and I love Nana since After School days (fan since debut!).

"that reminds me of the current drama sweet munchies(not a good drama) where I ship both the male leads. One of the male leads is actually gay in the show lol "

-> WOAH I didn't know that. I've been patiently waiting for it to end so I can binge it at once (I'm a huge Kara fan so I've been waiting for Jiyoung to do a Kdrama forever!)

"it also reminds me of WDH, how he has the best chemistry with himself... he play two characters in the eternal king lol "

-> LOL Also WDH-LMH chemistry. The bromance is more interesting than LMH-FL chemistry tbh (at least IMO)

Yes, I've read nothing but positive reviews about it so I'm excited.

There's dramacool: https://dramacool.ca/watch/backstreet-rookie-episode-1-english-sub/ or IQ.com as Aishwarya…
Sorry didn't meant it rudely. Sadly when these websites are posted in other sites there's a high chances that they'll get flagged and then shut down through DMCA.

"If other shows have similar bad scenes/bad character behavior and people don’t call out on it, does that mean…
That brings up another argument: They can compartmentalise for those shows, but not this?

Pranksalot brought up a better argument instead: They were more or less okay with those shows because they liked it.

"If other shows have similar bad scenes/bad character behavior and people don’t call out on it, does that mean…
For me both sides are being hypocritical. Underaged actress being romantically paired with older guys is NOT okay. Regardless of how old she looks (which is irrelevant). This is why I'm not okay with her and Park Bogum romance in Love in the Moonlight because she was underaged in it (her real age btw not the character). I never defended this show saying she looks old for her age, that's a stupid argument that yes I agree some people defending the show has used.

There's:
1. Real life age is underaged. This is NEVER okay.
2. Real life age is adult, character age is underage. This depends on your perspective , severity of the act involved and how much you can compartmentalise. It's in the gray area. In this show, KYJ's character initiated it so it's much more easier to overlook. But I would not be okay with this if JCW's character initiated it.
3. Real life age is underaged but looks old for their age. This is a hypocritical argument as well. The people you mentioned are using this argument. Which I agree with you, is a fallacy.

Yoon Hyun Min definitely. He's one of my fave K-actors lol And he shares excellent chemistry with not just FL but also male cast members. His last drama he shared with Seo Ji Hoon as well and honestly, they had better chemistry with each other than with the female lead lol

Yes, those were not good at all. But I feel like this and Mystic Pop Bar could be a warm return to form for her.

Omg yes the one with Yoon Hyunmin & Seo Ji Hoon. I've been anticipating that since it was announced. I'm a fan of them both + her. So it's a triple kill lol

She's really good tbh I didn't like her last few dramas (the Undateable and Lucky Romance) though but she's a very good actress!

Thanks. I'll definitely watch it then. I really like Han Eun Jung as well (been a fan since Secret Love). And I don't mind comedic vibe, I love comedies lol

"If other shows have similar bad scenes/bad character behavior and people don’t call out on it, does that mean…
"—it’s within your right to do so, it’s great to look at positivity hahaha "
-> Definitely. It's internet in the end anyway lol You need to be able to look past the negative on the internet to survive XD

"—for backstreet rookie, perhaps the negative aspects outweigh the positive aspects for certain people. I saw some comments where people didn’t like the anime vibe or didn’t think it was funny (not including the controversial elements). "
-> That's a good point. I'm personally enjoying the cartoon-ish over the top style they went with this but I do see why everyone would not like that.

"—gosh we are going to grow so fat from all the popcorn we are consuming LOL"
-> Damn time to exercise as well!

At present female lead is dominating jcw but for sure jcw character will pickup in upcoming episodes I don't think…
IDK. I've read the manhwa until like chapter 41 and JCW's character has not changed till then. I think they've changed the story for the show though.

I find the reversal of tropes a fresh breathe of air tbh Most kdramas have weak female lead and arrogant, gutsier male lead. I wish more drama would follow a more unorthodox pairing.

"If other shows have similar bad scenes/bad character behavior and people don’t call out on it, does that mean…
"the thing is that people can love shows and rate it with a good score but also find problematic things about the show. "

-> Fair enough. I can agree with that.

"—nothing wrong with that. That’s also another show that had problems but different ones. It was more on the editing, directing, plot holes and etc.
—people can dislike a number of shows and love a number of shows. I see mostly positive comments in “it’s okay to be okay”"

-> I think people who generally react negatively at first slowly lose interest after a few weeks. Maybe it just shows that most of them are young teenagers with short attention span. This is why I don't take negativity here seriously anymore because eventually they'll move on.

"I know calling out hypocrisy is funny but should be done so haha everyone is a hypocrite at least once in their life, including myself lol"

-> I completely agree with you on that one. We're all just humans. Almost all of us prolly have been hypocritical sometime in our lives. Here's what I believe -> It's impossible to be perfect as a human.

"I don’t know the context of that show but if it’s the exact same way as portrayed on this show then yeah, shame on them for not calling that out. They may be hypocrites but they can still call out the exact them problems that they neglect to call out in the past. It’s like a thief calling out another thief. It’s ironic but it is still the truth. And yes, call out their hypocrisy while agreeing that the point they made is correct lol"

-> It's exactly as I explained. It happens in episode 4 IIRC. IC then went on to be one of the highest rated MDL show. I believe people here have selective bias depending on who stars in a show and how successful it is in their home country.

-> I agree they can call out others. I personally just find it funny to watch them call out others. Honestly this comment section for the first 2 days was popcorn worthy. I think I thrive in chaos as I enjoy them lmao

Hmm a lot of people are asking for Season 2, but I think while a Season 2 would be cute and fluffy, it won't be…
Normally I hate fluff, but I have a special spot in my heart for BL fluff. So bring on the fluff!!

Weak Male Lead should be one of the top tags for this drama. The male lead is really wimpy, the female lead is the gutsy one.

"If other shows have similar bad scenes/bad character behavior and people don’t call out on it, does that mean…
-> By simply clicking on their page and checking out their list. The first day this aired here, I checked many of their pages and they all have rated IC, LitM etc. highly. Is it a broad generalisation? Yes. But it's not completely baseless. Note, I'm talking about the people who complained about this on the first day of airing. IDK about the recent comments (actually haven't see much negativity recently either).

-> Being on this page does not erase the fact that they did indeed rate them higher. Also note that many of us have noticed that some of these are the same people who were leaving huge amount of negativity for the first few episodes of the King Eternal Monarch as well.

-> A thief calling out another thief for stealing is ironic hypocrisy. Can they be called out? Yes, everyone has the right to. But it still looks hilarious in practise.

Look, I'm not saying people can't leave a negative comment here. It's MDL, I don't even take half of them seriously. But I find it preposterously hilarious to see people being politically inclined and woke when just like 2 months ago a drama showed a female lead kissing a male lead who was asleep (note this is sexual assault by definition) and some of them rated it 8/9 out of 10. Personally for me, it's more entertaining to watch them complain.
