This is a very good drama. Much better than I expected. The costumes and sets were very well done and the actors were good also. The ending was good and sad in places but appropriate. I felt satisfied in the end and glad that I watched this. I would give this an 8.9 rating. I know some people don't like to watch long dramas, but I don't really mind. I'm going to be watching something anyway so as long as it keeps my interest, that's the most important thing. And I also just love watching the historical dramas. It's worth a watch--Enjoy!
I love your acting and want to see you in more dramas and movies, but I must say that I hated the devastating ending in “The Smile Has Left Your Eyes.” You would have been so much more memorable if it had been a positive dramatic ending (not meaning a fluffy one). Take care and I wish you all the best!
This drama deserves an award. there were things in the storyline where i thought the writers could have done a…
I really don’t know how anyone could “like “this ending. It was so sad, tragic and devastating. It may have fit with the overall drama in the end, but what’s to like?
I feel that TRAGEDY should always be listed as the first tag. I have a lot of respect for all the actors, but I would never have watched this if I knew before what it was about. I want to watch shows that make my life better—there is already too much tragedy in this world. You see it every day on the news. I don’t want to watch dramas that leave me devastated at the end. That’s not how I want to spend the hours of my life. There needs to be more warnings before you start a drama of this type. I confess that I do like feel-good stories and happy endings. I also like well-written, intriguing mysteries and melodramas. But there has to be hope in the end!
Thanks for the list, but it would really be great if you good add the drama rating next to the name so that I don't have to click on every single one. Thanks anyway.
Unbelieveable ending--this drama was so good. I rate this 10 out of 10. Can't wait for season 2 but I hope it's the same actors or i will be very disappointed!
Really surprising news from outta nowhere. I had just upped with them for another year so I'll be getting that…
I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing that someone is going to buy them out, change the name, the pricing and add tons of advertising on the website--similar to what kisskh did. I'm really horrified by all the non-stop advertising there is on this website. I wish there was someone to compete with them (kisskh). It gets very tiring and annoying to try to avoid all the ads!
It seems that the Viki team has proved so far the smartest - they do not pay their segmenters and translators…
Sorry but I don't think that Viki is smart at all. When you get things for free while you are making money, it's just wrong! I understand some people just enjoy doing it but there is no real incentive to be consistent or accurate. My biggest complaint about Viki has been the quality of some of the subbing, although some are good. It seems that Viki thinks if they praise and advertise their free subbers thoughout the dramas that it will be enough to satisfy the subbers and the public. Not. I find if very annoying although I do appreciate the effort on the part of the actual subbers-it's just not a good business model!
These are the alternative to dramafever, I know it won't be as great as drama fever but these sites upload ongoing…
The problem with the sites you listed--especially the bad kissasian website--is that they have a LOT of advertisements and really insulting, raunchy ads! You almost can't find out how to start the drama because you have to search through so much crap and hope you hit the right icon! Seriously, it's not worth it to me!!
i keep hearing from people outside of the US that netflix has a good stable of asian drama. yea, netflix USA has…
I have Netflix. There is no way that their selection of Asian dramas is larger than Dramafever's--I have looked for many of them. The other issue is that they aren't even clear pictures (on Netflix)--many of them are sub-par resolution. I have no idea why. It seems that as big as Netflix is, that they would be better. (Although recently I recall that there were icons to click on to go to Dramafever to watch the drama.) I wonder if Netflix could be influencing Dramafever's situation or maybe even planning to buy them out some way?
Sorry but I've never used DF and I'm curious what exclusives did they have?
Was Tribes and Empires an exclusive of Dramafever? I watched the entire series twice and now a third time (about halfway) with some friends. I'm sorry for them if they won't be able to finish it! Also Princess Agents? Another great "re-watch" drama! So good!!
I am really sooo sad--I feel like I lost a good friend. I started with Dramafever about five or six years ago. They have been very reliable with only a few issues and they were always trying to improve themselves. They have the best subbers (in most cases)!! The problem I always had with Viki was often unclear subbing and too much advertising about their subbers while trying to watch the drama. I was a subscriber to Viki but haven't renewed this year because they have created two levels that are more expensive and I'm not sure what you actually get. I am sure all the facts will come out eventually about Dramafever, but meanwhile I will greatly miss this drama website! Thank you for all your work and support over the years, Dramafever Team--Take care!
I have never been a fan a wuxia dramas. In fact, the only one that I've ever watched was Princess Agents and I…
I agree that wuxia has never been a big attraction for me although I love historical dramas. I think Princess Agents was one of the first for me. I loved that drama (except for the perverted old man--it was really over done). Now I can't wait for season 2 of Princess Agents and just pray the writers will do it justice (same actors, directors and producers)! Thanks.
I decided to watch this yesterday and saw the first two episodes on Viki. It seems interesting but the subtitles are just okay. After the first two episodes they skip a lot of subtitles in the scenes also. I love historical-themed dramas, but finding good subtitles can be very difficult (although I've watched some really good ones too)!
Cute actors. A little too predictable and too drawn out--slow. I thought the female antagonist character, Jo Woo Ri, was pretty boring. Definite case of second lead syndrome with Kwak Dong Yeon--really liked his character, and the CEO mom! There was a little comedy, a little romance, but nothing spectacular or that memorable, I gave it a rating of 7.8 out of 10.
Does anyone know the name of the piano/guitar tune played in episode 3 background music for theatre scene and the Hollywood sign scene? Thanks if you do! (I am interested in the piano sheet music.) Take care.
I'm from America. I wasn't bothered by it, but it was poor acting. LOL Some of the stereotypes are true. The surfer…
Some of it can be true sometimes--they have that in all countries. But I have to say as an American, I was disappointed that this is the way they portrayed California. You have to admit that the majority of citizens are NOT like that! Meet some real people and you will know for sure. Also, it was interesting the different scenes of Southern and Central Californa. I know all of them personally and there is no way you can get from one to the other in the time frame they portrayed in the drama.
You would have been so much more memorable if it had been a positive dramatic ending (not meaning a fluffy one).

the right icon! Seriously, it's not worth it to me!!
