Watching this saeguk for me was like watching a live tale. It was all represented in a very realistic way, so…
I truly love historical (saeguk) dramas. They are my favorite and first to watch when possible. I know there have to be fairly realistic depictions of the times, but I really appreciate it when the directors DO NOT show ALL the gory details. I end up looking away and usually miss other things about the scene that might have been worth watching.
A must watch! One of the best historical dramas I have seen (and I've watcjhed most of them. The storyline and execution were really excellent. The actors fit their roles perfectly and performed flawlessly. I am almost speechless--I liked this drama so much! The music was also very good and fitting.
In the beginning, I really liked the father and then came to realize that he was the lead actor in "City Hunter"--a drama I really liked, but did not care for his character (although it was well done). What a difference in that role and this one! (It proves to me how diversified and good an actor can be.)
Every character in this drama was so well played all the way through. It was such a good ending that I had a big mix of emotions and definitely didn't want it to end.
I am sincerely hoping for a sequel. Even though it was 30 episodes, I would have loved for it to be 50 or even a hundred--I would keep watching. Now I feel that I must go back and watch "Rebel-Thief Who Stole the People" again. Right now. And I will also, of course, watch the sequel if there is one--Please make it as good as the this one!
Great job to the many people involved in making this drama! And I loved the clips at the very end--just right with just the perfect amount of hilarity. I rated this a 10 out of 10. Take care.
Kim Woo Bin--You are amazing! We love you and wish you all the best.. I wish I knew what I could do--I am one of your biggest fans--there are many. Be strong--we are all pulling for you and will support you and your family in any way possible. Fighting! Love and Hugs XO
This is so not fair watched his dramas for couple of years and now he's 30 already. But still love him. Love…
You must still be a baby--no offense. He's in the prime of his life!!! What's another year anyway? Just a number!!! Someday you'll know--we only get better with age, even with a few mistakes thrown in (as long as we apologize and learn from them). And looks are superficial--It's the kind heart and caring about others that truly matters!
Wow...I really loved this drama and the actors were excellent! I don't understand why it is sooo underrated! I put off watching this for quite some time because of a few negative comments, but now I regret doing that (besides the fact that I love historical dramas and 20 episodes is a good length--even though I have seen some amazing dramas that were 50+ episodes).
"Mirror of the Witch" was so good that it is definitely a drama that I will recommend to others and re-watch myself (for one thing, I love Yoon Shi Yoon). TBH (To be honest), I really didn't care for the first episode, but every episode after that just got better and better. I never say this--but please ignore the first two reviews above. For one thing, it is Not an inconclusive drama and it is Not mediocre! I give this a rating of 9 out of 10--even with a difficult first episode. Enjoy and take care.
This drama was good--not really scary. I loved the two main leads and the "bad guy" was interesting. There seemed to be a few holes in the story and I really don't like it when they re-run scenes to Fill in the episode timing. Some of the scenes with the monk (I love the actor) were okay and others didn't seem to fit at all. Pretty good overall, but the last episode seemed a little draggy but somewhat okay. It wasn't really a strong ending. I don't know if I would watch this again re-watch this again (except for the main couple) but I'll still give it 8.0 out of 10.
This changed my mind about Chinese dramas. Can't wait for season 2!
I really like many Chinese dramas (also Korean and other Asian dramas). Since this has a sequel, I'll probably wait until that is over before I check this one out--I really hate cliff hangers when you have to wait for an entire new series, and there seem to be a lot of unfavorable comments.
***If you want to see 2 really good Chinese dramas, watch "Bu Bu Jing Xin" (the original "Scarlett Heart") and also "Prince of Lan Ling." Even just mentioning them makes me want to watch them again. They are in a whole different class! Also, one of the best movies I have ever watched, in any language, (seriously!) is "Red Cliff" part I and II. I was sooo impressed!!
I was trying to watch this but she's too stupid and I really can't stand her... I don't know if…
Thanks for your comment. It makes me think about whether to watch this one or not. That's the same way I felt about the Korean version, "You who come from the stars." Both leads in that one were cute as far as looks, but I couldn't stand the characters. The female lead was just way too overbearing and a spoiled brat throwing tantrums all the time, and the male lead was adorable but so overly quiet I could hardly watch the entire series. Unfortunately, I thought that the Korean drama was way overrated (and I love Korean dramas)!
This drama is so under rated. It's still one of my favorites! Does anyone know who played the campus doctor? Thanks. There were so many good actors in this!
Cute actors and interesting plot. Serious topic but mostly light hearted. Well done for a short series. Kept me guessing. Good ending. Rated 7.8 out of 10.
I watched "Winter Sonata" before and just finished "Story of A Man." Park Yong-ha was such a good and adorable actor. I'm so sorry to just now hear about his death. It seems a bit surreal at the moment. My condolences to his family and friends.
I have never liked reality shows--for real! And I especially dislike child kidnappings (or serial killers. It seems like promoting all the worst aspects of deranged people.)
So I probably won't be watching this one ):
You are an excellent actor and play all of your roles flawlessly. You are perfect as a comedian or in a more serious role. I am a fan and love watching all of your dramas. Keep up the good work! Take care.
