You are a very good actor! I loved you in Kim Tak Gu--Baker King, Gaksital (Bridal Mask), and one of my all-time favorites--Tomorrow's Cantabile (it was so good and quite hilarious). My next drama with you will be Ojakgyo Brothers and I can't wait to see more. Keep up the good work! Take care.
This was a really good drama. I have to admit that I started and stopped watching this drama three different times, but because the rating was so high I assumed that I must be missing something and decided to persist through all the episodes to the end. It was worth it! If you can just get past the first five or six episodes the drama changes--almost like two different plots. In the beginning, I really couldn't stand the female lead being so strong (which I liked), but then acting so pouty. She acts that way again in a few places, but not so much as in the beginning. The prince was over-the-top with his arrogance and insincerity. (The story seemed to jump back and forth with almost sincere, then not. It was confusing.) If I skip the beginning episodes (okay maybe I'll watch them again to see if I gain a different perspective), I will watch this again. Very well done in the end--I would give it a solid rating of 9 out of 10 if it wasn't for the beginning. Very well done in the end--good actors (every character was cast perfectly) and storyline!
Just finished watching this movie. It was okay, but I thought that it was very predictable and nothing really that exciting. I do like all the actors, but it just didn't impress me. There were a few tense moments, but not enough to really keep you guessing and the music was just kind of slow. There also wasn't much of a love story. Not a sad ending, but not exactly a happy one either. I would not watch it again, even with a friend. Too boring for me. I rated it 7 out of 10, but really felt that maybe that was too high. Sorry to those of you who liked it. Just my honest opinion.
I just finished rewatching this for the second time. Chuno (Slave Hunter) is an Excellent drama. Really good actors.…
Hi Jaylan. Since you asked, It is not a "Happy" ending because in the end, he sacrifices himself while fighting the enemy. But it is such a beautiful, well-acted drama. It's still one of my favorites, and even though it's sad at the end, I'll keep re-watching it because it's so amazing up to the very last. Hope this helps you.
WOW -- I finished the sequel (continuation or Part 2) today. What can I say!? I was completely and pleasantly surprised when I watched this drama--both parts! I had no idea what to expect from "Red Cliff," but I was truly amazed. It is one of the best historical movies I have ever seen! Every single element was excellent -- the actors, cinematography, storyline (war strategies and bit of romance, heroics and true dedication), as well as the music. Thank you for such a great movie! "Red Cliff 2" and it was even better than Part I.
I am so impressed and of course, I plan to watch the 95 episode "Three Kingdoms (2010)" next. Although it seems a bit long, I have watched other dramas that length and it's totally worth it if it's a great story that's well presented. Thank you everyone for an amazing job and I'll let you know when I finish the series (Three Kingdoms). Take care.
PS I rated both parts of the movie 10 out of 10 (I seldom rate that high) and also, I watched it on kissasian.com. (Even though I hate all the tasteless advertising on that web site, but once you get into the episode you don't get bothered.) I didn't check out the YouTube version, but they usually have ads and no controls to forward or advance by 10 seconds.

I saw this drama two years ago, and last year and now I'm feeling like I must watch it again. Everything about this drama was excellent!--the storyline, actors, music, hilarious comedy, cuteness-- I could go on and on! I've watched it with all my friends and family. Everyone loves it--from little kids to teenagers to adults! It's one of the best dramas out there . All of the actors are amazing. I rated it 10 out of 10. Watch it, I think you'll love it.
I can't believe that it took so long for me to finally watch this. Other things kept getting in the way and I'm so glad I finally got to it. It's a really, really good drama. Loved every episode. Sorry that it has to end. I would like to see more of the story line continued. Loved the struggle for Koguryeo and everyone's dedication to each other and their cause/county. Excellent theme of integrity and morality especially in the main characters. The music in this drama was amazing and perfect for each scene, and worth downloading. The filming and scenery were beautiful and the acting/characters were very well done. Loved the touches of humor amid the realistic drama scenes. I liked that it spanned three generations and, as in real life, took a bit of a turn at the end. It was a very good ending. Surprisingly, it was not too long and I would have watched more episodes if there had been more. I will put this on my list of best historical dramas and my list to be re-watched. I do feel right now that I will genuinely miss this drama. Well done everyone! Take care.
Is Coffee Prince Lab (scheduled for June 2017) supposed to be a Chinese remake of Coffee Prince? Is that why she just has a guest role? I love Yoon Eun Hye so much!! I really would like to see her in another rom-com (my favorite genre next to historical --maybe a "historical rom-com!" (: --I would love it. Anyway, please come back soon. I miss seeing you as do so many others (obviously from the comments below). Take care and hope to see you soon. --From one of your many fans!
PS I'm looking forward to your movie--I don't want to see you die in the film! But I'll give it a chance and watch it.
I LOVED "Lie To Me!" It was so good. Best rom-com ever. Sooo under-rated. I gave it a 9.5 out of 10. I loved the actors and Kang Ji Hwan was perfect for his role. I've watched this one a few times! Don't know what's up, but please do another drama/movie soon!! I really do miss seeing you on the screen!
that's ridicules ! DOTS dominated everything I loved the drama but this is too much is this a popularity…
If everyone loves a particular drama, for whatever reason, shouldn't it be the winner? So what if it's a popularity thing--that just means everyone loved it--Nothing wrong with that! Just because I watch something that's popular that everyone else is watching, it doesn't mean that I will like it or vote for that drama. For example, many people seem to really like "My love from another star," but while I like the actors, I didn't feel that way at all--I thought it was way overrated, but the voting results didn't change my opinion or vote!
I love historical dramas and this is one of the best Japanese Dramas that I have seen. I will watch Jin 2 next and hope it's as good as this one. I will also watch the kdrama version which I have heard is not quite as good, but I want to see for myself. I definitely recommend watching this one. Excellent actors, cinematography and directing!
I really loved this drama and the music was great too--until the last three episodes. Like a few other comments below, it went from being really good to just seeming like a few filler episodes at the end. Such a shame to turn a nice drama like this into something boring at the end--especially since I loved all the actors and the majority of the storyline. The special guest star in episode 10 was kind of interesting, and although he is very famous, it just left me wondering what the purpose was? It really didn't add anything to the story. I think 7.9 is a fair rating for this drama--more for the beginning, less at the end. I had to force myself to finish it.
This was my first and probably my last historical drama... personally think this was terribly done with such a…
Hi Isobel - Please don't give up on historical dramas. I usually watch dramas after they are completed, so I haven't started this yet and it's too bad that I don't seem to be hearing a lot of good reviews (although the rating is at 8.2). I am someone who LOVES HISTORICAL DRAMAS! They are the first type I look for. One of my favorites is "Sungkyunkwan Scandal"--it's really cute and interesting, also highly rated by over 11,000 fans. Try it - you may very well like it. There are so many really good historical dramas out there (I agree with most of the other suggestions above)-- please don't give up yet! Take care (:
PS A couple other TOP Historical favorites of mine are:
"Prince of Lan Ling" and
"Bu Bu Jing Xin (Scarlet Heart)--best Chinese version ever!"-- they are Amazing!
(available now on Dramafever.com--I don't work for them but it's a good channel when they have the drama you're looking for.)
A few more great Historical Dramas are...
Iljimae
Return of Iljimae (not a sequel)
Chuno
Sound of the Desert
The Princess' Man
Gunman in Joseon
Gu Family Book
...Just to get you started--There are so many excellent ones! ENJOY (:
The music was really great in the drama and I loved the actors! The first 12 or 13 episodes were pretty good, but the last three were so predictable that it became boring. Really, did the directors just get tired or something--how could they not realize? There could have been at least a little drama or suspense to make this ending more worthwhile. I felt that I had to almost force myself to watch the last episodes, which was very irritating because I like the beginning so much and wanted it to get better. The actors were cute, adorable, handsome and the acting was well done. What can I say? I barely gave this an 8.0 out of 10 just because of the poor storyline towards the end. Sorry.
PS - I just noticed this was being compare to Boys Over Flowers--sorry, but it's not even close! (although the actors are all adorable).
I just now finished "Dear My Friends" and it was an Excellent drama. Realistic, warm, funny, touching. So true to life with all emotions portrayed so perfectly. For those of you who discount getting older 30-40-50-90? you may gain a lot of insight into your own life as well as the friends and family around you. Stop thinking you're above it all and take a real look. This is a wonderful drama (including the romances) and I'm so happy I didn't miss it. Great job to everyone--directors and actors as well as all others involved in creating this beautiful series. Every actor was amazing! I can't say enough. Also, let me say that the music was amazing and perfect for every scene. I'm going to find the soundtrack tomorrow. You will want to make sure not to miss this drama. It truly deserves all the high ratings. I give "Dear My Friends" a perfect 10! So well done!!! Take care.
I just finished rewatching this for the second time. Chuno (Slave Hunter) is an Excellent drama. Really good actors. Good storyline and great background music. Great cinematography. The ending was not perfect, but it was acceptable and believable for the situation. This drama is really worth watching. I gave it a 10. Lead actors were amazing. I don't understand the fairly low rating though since nearly every review and rating I've seen so far has been so high.
