just the culture and values in China. you won’t find many irl Chinese couples who hold hands in public, much less hug and kiss. a dead giveaway to a young couple are matching outfits. you will also see actors in drama promotions warning kids to watch with an adult if there are spicy scenes. I find it refreshing personally, but I also wasn’t raised in a western country. and yeah, the random kisses crack me up sometimes. like do they have lip magnets to where when someone falls, they automatically land on the other’s lips?
last week i decided to give chinese dramas a chance for the first time and i searched some high rating dramas…
they censor romantic scenes pretty heavily over there. we refer to the “pecking” as “fish kissing”. there are a few dramas with realistic kiss scenes, but mostly modern. For xianxia and wuxia genres, Eternal Love Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms, An Oriental Odyssey, Love of Thousand Years, My Sassy Princess and Legend of Shen Li are few that come to mind with decent skinship/kiss scenes. imho Zheng Ye Cheng seems to be the best kisser, which is why I listed three of his dramas.
how is someone posting a review when the show has not even aired? And giving low ratings? If you don’t enjoy the genre, actors, or something else, just make a comment. Artificually driving down a show that other’s may potentially enjoy is very narrow minded. Surely we are better than that.
The only two dramas super faithful to novel that I can find has been: Lost You Forever, and The Legend of Shen…
Song of the Desert also followed the book because the author was part of the scriptwriting team. Author is Tong Hua, same as LYF. Drama is pretty old but still stands test of time.
