Just speak for yourself. You donโt know what the whole world or Koreans were watching.
Agree. QoT builds on CLOY. tvN probably gained subscribers after CLOY. And what was on the other channels this time, did they even bother to compete or just threw in the towel and played re-runs. Many factors. Records set the new standard and records get broken.
It's the same writer. Don't watch it then start bitching about it.
I must have suddenly got annoyed by the know-it-all narcissistic posts littering the comments. The two dramas are similar in structure and style. They're about family, friendship and life with a little bit of adventure thrown in. Uprooting the rich into a whole new world, a heinous villain, heroism, romanticism, etc. Mian.
That's just not true. Hallyu has been going for over 20 years and it's been popular domestically and in certain countries for over 20 years. You may have started watching with CLoY, what makes you assume you're representative? You use the words "the whole world" as a substitute for "I".
It's stating that for channel tvN, Queen of Tears is now the drama with the highest live viewership in South Korea. Prior to that the record was held by Crash Landing on You. It's pretty fucking simple.
They're clearly on the back burner, about to boil over very soon I imagine. I love how they woke up together in…
I'm past hating any drama character - even when I'm being wound up and gaslit, I just roll with it these days, better for my health! ๐ฌ Incidentally, there's a fervent discussion going on about Park Ji-eun on another page by idiots that want to retaliate against the record-breaking ratings... she knows just when to turn down the heat, the stress never goes on for more than half an episode.
i love QOTโs OST. (tried to shazam that last song but it couldnโt find it)
Yes Soo-hyun. Like the song he sings in My Love From The Star, unmistakable and lovely. He goes into sudden full on operatic bursts in The Producers! (Not ost material!)
You've touched on the exact reasons K-dramas are popular.Beautiful people, beautiful stories, beautiful thoughts,…
I see what you mean. Good writing doesn't need big narrative events, action can be created just by 2 characters looking at each other. It's the characters (and portrayals as you said) that create it - I see your point... but the essential job of the writer and director (as well as the actors) is to imprint those lovable traits through dialogue and situations so we care what they say, who they look at, it's charming and engaging when done right. I think it was done right in this show.
I've seen some marvellous acting from Soo-hyang... the scene in ep.9 where she and Pil-seung are drunk in the street diner... the scene (forget ep #) where she's rationalising Pil-seung's rejection of her offer to date... I can't figure why it's only reaching 15% in ratings, performing below par - maybe because the elders are all so embarrassing thus far and getting short shrift from the staple weekend audience? Anyone know otherwise?
Mian.
Yes, it's a weird top 15.
