Now I have to watch either HIStory 2 Right or Wrong or HIStory 3 Trapped again to wipe my memory that this one…
Everyone is upset about this less-than-happy ending, but is HIStory 3 Trapped really any better though? From what people have written, apparently the other main lead goes to prison for a seriously long time. They show him going to prison and you think oh well they'll be together when he gets out but then I read that the punishment in Taiwan for shooting a cop is like several decades if not life in prison. I feel like they gave a soft/ambiguous sad ending in Trapped and then straight up tragedy in MODC. Very, very sad that it ended this way though I respect the creative efforts of the team.
HIStory is known for having happy endings (up until this point). To me it's been a breath of fresh air when compared…
In my personal opinion HIStory is still safe as far as protecting their image of enabling happy endings. Often Chinese or Korean bl dramas end in tragedy in a way that feels like there is a bias at play. As though the subtle message of 'see this unnatural relationship is doomed to fail' is being portrayed. But in this series the second couple have their happy ever after, which is much different than the traditionally tragic bl endings.
I get that everyone is upset about the ending, some think salt isn't important enough to die for... but that's life. You can run to the market real quick because you ran out of toilet paper, get in a car accident and die. For me, the whole message of this show is exactly what its title says, make your days count. Don't fight over stupid shit, tell your people that you love them, do the things you want in life, don't live your life for other people, and cherish everything; because you never know how/when life will stunningly blindside you with the unexpected. Just like episode 10 of this show, it's super disappointing i agree, but I think those that are threatening to never watch HIStory again are being over-dramatic. You're going to go from loving a series and being a fan to 'canceling' them over a single creative difference?
