their kid has serious moodswings that come at the worst timing. he's selfish right the way through, and then right when she needs to hear him be selfish and say "i want to be with mom, i don't want you to leave. dad doesn't treat me well" he suddenly decides to be selfless and think about his mom's feelings and tells her it's okay for her to go (when that's not actually what she wants to hear but he's being manipulated). LIKE BRO. REMAIN SELFISH. LET YOUR MOTHER KNOW YOU NEED HER. DON'T LET THE MISTRESS TRICK YOU WITH YOUR NEW FOUND CONCSCIENCE. ugh, i just want him to run home to his mom so bad LOL

yeah that one, actually ive always been a fan of giriboy and instantly knew he'd made the song when it first came on. he is such a master at making catchy beats.

i laughed my actual face off when this man out of casual habit held the door open for those cops right after choking his wife to death like I CANT ep6.

i freaking love that rap ost that always comes on. it's great. such lovely scenes shot with pretty filters with that song. it really creates the best atmosphere

totally agree, but i think what they did well in this show is not using their age gap as a point of conflict or really a point of anything lol. it's mentioned but otherwise they treat each other as equals and you kind of forget (how should i say, there's no "im too old for you. you're just a kid" stuff haha). Sometimes she does feel "wiser" or "older" but then again that's more to do with her realistic personality versus his more idealistic niave point of view. anyway, totally recommend this show for a refreshing noona romance as well. .the bickering is hilarious

same, it's cause the character's are interesting i think, and their love interests. honestly i thought id find it boring because it really is almost 100% like sungkyungkwan scandal and hwarang had a baby and ive pretty much seen all these scenes before, but somehow i still really like it LOL. i think it's cause they go into each character's background and that makes up the story as opposed to rehashing the same old drama of one couple, making them breakup and get together because they still have 10 episodes to go.

ive started wondering what song plays duringt those moments XD like is it piano? some kind of ballad. is it a good song XD what happens i those moments, im so curious HAHAHAHA

probably cause the show doesn't really focus on it. there is an underlying corruption plot that the main characters try to solve on the side (just like every ancient drama) but it's not really the focus unlike other murder/mystery/detective dramass. this drama is about their time in the academy. think harry potter style. yes, there's the underlying evil plot that the kids try to solve, but ultimately it's about their time in school.

this is one of those rare cdramas where the female characters have actual personalities and you don't hate them just for existing. I mean you're probably used to awful FLs if you watch alot of dramas but trust me, you don't know what you're missing out on. you might think you're enjoying a drama with an annoying fl, but if you watch a drama like this where all the characters are unqiue and well thought out (depite being a light-hearted show) you'll realise just how much more you enjoy a show. i thoroughly enjoyed all of the characters stories and barely fastforwarded and when it ended, i was sad for once to say goodbye to their little group of friends. this is how a story is supposed to be written. with characters you become attatched to.

Lol all good. both NIF 1 and 2 are known to be very good, ive actually heard 1 is better but 2 is a little more lighthearted and has more romance which is why i watched it first LOLL. yeah, there are defs bad shows everywhere XD cdramas have a unique problem where most of them are live actions of IP novels (kind of like fanfictions but not really, from my understanding) so dramas aren't written by proper script writers or proffesionals. Now that's not a diss to online novice writers, some of them are way better than anything a real "writer" could come up with, but producers will always adapt the popular tropey ones and that's why all the shows have very similiar plots. sighh,

haha all good (: i haven't checked out the first nirvana in fire (but it's apparently really good) or love and destiny (which ive heard is like the "better" version of eternal love LOL) but i did really like 2/3rds of legend of Fuyao, the story was just very long and i couldn't finish it but it was my first fantasy cdrama and it was really interesting. cdramas are always hit or miss XD some are so bad but then the good ones are always well done. it's just a lot of sifting HAHAH

when the teacher wrote "deader than dead" in english on the board i literally had no idea what he'd written till he said it outloud. i thought the first word was "dealer" lol. a doctor writes neater. how in the hell are chinese students supposed to understand that XD

Lol gladyl. I've gotta admit, about 90% of cdramas are really bad. I've seen 1000s and I could probs only reccomend like 10 of them hahaa. This is of course, just my opinion, however

(Fantasy, adventure, female assasins, slightly dark, forbidden romance) (a cult classic. a bit gorey tbh but you love it anyway LOL)
Bloody Romance

(comedy, romance, palace) (a total non-serious but funny show)
Mengfei Comes Across

(Serious but well written slice of life, adventure, war, slight romance)
Nirvana in Fire II

(Slice of life, romance, action, family) (very well written, praised by many, a fave of mine but quite long)
Story of Minglan

(Detective, spies, romance, friendship, comedy) (the only historical detective show worth watching)
Young Blood

(Fluffy, romance, comedy, magic) (just, really freaking cute ha)

Special Mentions:

-Eternal Dream (spinoff of eternal love about the dijun x fengjiu pariring in this drama. honestly it had the same dragging issues as this one but i found it actually really enjoyable and cute. plus the fantasy god land is always nice)
- The Legends (adored by everyone. Amazing actors and an intriguing storyline. only downfall is the editing and ending were rushed. still, a fantasy, romance, adventure, martial arts classic)

oh really? i thought they would've updated them by now cause i just watched it in black and white too when it was airing XD i know some of the eps are on youtube? yeahhhh otherwise i dont really know, sorry! they should eventually be unlocked from VIP tho it might take some time
