It's ok, I kinda have the same excitement about OST. I also never thought I would be able to make out clear phrases in Chinese before I started following their dramas.

I totally agree with you about a good OST pairing with a drama.
I have recently completely fallen in love with Chinese drama and Chinese people in general in the past three years which has made me embark on learning pinyin as much as I can.
Most of the songs I know which helps me speed up my learning process are drama OST. The very first one is from 'Glory of Tang Dynasty', I'm currently enjoying 'Rosefinch street' (from the drama Moonshine and Valentine)...my very best drama songs also include WuJi and the OST from 'My 99 point girl' and 'Dr Cutie'

But I'm going to return back to the chapter I left it at when I started reading the novel before jumping to the end of season 1.

I want to enjoy more of the background stories I abandoned.

Me too, I like the fact that the drama is more precise... I'm currently with Fan Xian in Jiangnan as he
takes control of the palace treasury

Around chapters 253 to 255... I'll suggest you start at 253 to be sure since it depicts some scenes of the final episode of season 1.

I think you got me wrong, I believe I mentioned that I didn't totally disagree with your review. I'm also not expecting you to judge dramas the same way I see them, I only used that as an example to for how a drama can be looked at from outside. Of course that's not all it takes to know if a drama is good or bad but it's one of the main points. I also did not accuse you of rating the drama low, which of course you didn't.
I have to say that I understand you very well but I think my point is not getting across to you maybe because you're trying to be defensive, but it's ok. I think this back and forth is not going to end between us since it seems you want to win an argument rather than understand my point (I might be wrong about you).

But if you wish to understand my point of view then read my second and third replies after you've gone through your review of the drama.

I agree, there's always two sides to a coin. I have watched things that I was disappointed with but my conclusion was between what was presented as the story and what I saw (what the plot is and what I experienced). If the two are parallel to each other then I have a good case for being disappointed. To be frank with you, your review made me wonder if we watched the same joy of life. I think I agree with one or two complaints you made but the others seemed like you just picked some small details from everywhere and made a mountain out of them... you need to realize that this are people's hard work, you need to be a little bit more realistic and objective.

reading reviews. But I can bet that the majority of the social world will disagree since almost everything's outside influence these days depends on reviews (shops, restaurants books, you name it). Again, I'm just saying.

According to reports, the shooting of season 2 should begin this October (days from now or maybe in one or two weeks). All I have to say is that I'm looking forward to see the same cast of season 1 in this order of importance to me... Emperor of Qing, Chen ping ping,
Fan xian, Wang qi nian, Uncle Wuzhu, Yan bingyun, Li chengze, Fei jie, Eunuch Hou, Fan jian, Haitang duoduo, Fan sizhe, Fan ruoruo, Li yunrui, Gao da.
Cast for any other roles can be changed or maintained if they so desire, but, these I have listed have become part of me and I'll go crazy if I don't see anyone of them in season 2.

Believe it or not I have already watched season 1 twice, and surprisingly enough I watched it the second time like I never watched it before (no skipping at all). I was so bored of waiting for season 2 few months after season 1 finished airing, so I started reading the novel... though I'm not reading too fast in order not to complete it before season 2 and 3 airs.
It's quite difficult though, the book is too good, am in a dilemma. Something tells me I have already exposed myself to many spoilers but I can't help it.

Forgive me for being blunt but, it's quite refreshing to know that you won't be watching season two or else you might leave a review that makes people miss out on something really exciting... please find something as "perfect" as yourself to watch. I love this kind of rollercoaster ride and it's ending, and I believe many people do to.
