The sensitive subject matter (hearing impairment) was handled very well.
I haven’t read the manga, so I can’t compare that with this live action adaptation.
I love it, especially the use of sound to make the audience feel what Kohei hears – or don’t hear. THAT is the advantage of live action over the manga original.
The best thing about this series is the theme song (“Fish in the Tank"). The characters here are quite basic. But wait till you watch Season 2. It gets really confusing. Not really excited for Season 3.
Overall I felt it was a pretty well done live action but the last episode did fall flat for me...Maybe i'm just…
I totally agree. Same reaction about the awkwardness -- before and after their band played. Also, the very last scene - why is Mafuyu with Hiiragi and not with Uenoyama who is his love partner?
Also, Ugetsu just popped out of nowhere and was not mentioned that he is a famous violinist.
Maybe if I didn’t watch the anime first, I’ll probably have given this a higher rating. But since I did, this live action version suffered in comparison. 10/10 for the anime, 8/10 for this live action.
Can’t believe the 3 main leads are 25, 26, 27 years old. Without checking (for those who dont know this yet), can you guess who the oldest of the 3 is? 😊
Well it was probably hard only having maybe 20 students at the whole school. Seriously, What do they do in school?…
@Jason: I was thinking the same. But from out of the blue?? There must be a second season, otherwise why would they put that seemingly disconnected scene in? 🤔
Love everything about this series. I’m just wondering: Where are the other (15 or so) members of the student council? Why didn’t we get to see at least one of them? 🤔
Another question: Who is that guy Mr. Seo greeted at the end? 🤔
It's not that there aren't tables, it's just that people in many parts of the world, sit and eat either on the…
Thanks for your reply. Yes, it bothered me because they are students but have no tables! Where do they study? On the floor or bed? But I guess you’re right, it’s the production designer’s fault. 😊
I love this movie. Very touching. I can relate personally because what happened to the grandma happened to my brother.
It’s a must watch and is deserving of the awards it got (Best Lead Actor, Best Supp Actress, Best Orig Film Score) and its nominations (Best Film, Best Director, Best Orig Screenplay).
Ending is not what one might hope for, but it’s a logical and acceptable conclusion.
QUESTION: I'm on Episode 2. Do folks in northeastern Thailand really eat on the floor? Are there no tables anywhere? Even in "Water Boyy the Series," the main character's dorm room has no study table. Only in the last episode did they put a very low and small to put some dishes on.
EDIT: Episode 3 is so tragic and violent! Will I still continue this series?
In the movie, there is only one annoying character: the girlfriend. Here, almost all the female characters are annoying, especially Pan the ex-lesbian bully and brat.
They used the same “dorm room” in the movie and it the series. They could have at least made it realistic in the series and got a room with a real “dorm feel.” This one looks like a hotel room or a condo!
And in both the movie and in the series, the room doesn’t have a table! They are students, aren’t they? So, they study and eat on the bed and the floor? Is there a shortage of table in Thailand now?
OMG. This is really hilarious!!! Superb acting, well directed and edited, too! Will I watch it again? Oh definitely! All 3 main actors have their own charm. Bravo!!! 10 /10
what part that was funny when then girls were crying from broken heart? That was sad part to watch
But they are the only OTHER couple in their VERY SMALL circle!! Surely, if they are not made stupid by the writers, they would’ve gotten what Bank meant!! Besides, all the signs are there for them not to notice!! 🤣
Me, too. The last scene in which Won Gyu stares at the phone means he is on the verge of calling Tae Joon. And Tae Joon looking back means he is expecting Won Gyu to be following him. It is an open-ended ending, but like you, I believe they'll get together. Their feelings for each other is pure and undeniable.
Perfectly shot, lighted, acted, directed, scored. A hidden gem from Korea.
A little sad atmosphere and themes (rejection, loneliness), but realistic as well. Love the story.
When Won Gyu (the flight steward) tells his ex that he is now “with a 34-year-old” and he tells his new “friend” (the one in orange jacket) that he is now “with a 24-year-old,” it means he lied to both. He is actually single because of the trauma that happened to him before.
He doesn’t want to go back and stay in Korea because he was a victim of homophobia, publicly humiliated and outed, and disowned by his father.
Sex scenes were done tastefully. Chemistry is intense.
Character driven movie, instead of plot driven. Acting is superb!

The actors are capable and were able to deliver.

This is a great (short) film. Superb acting from the entire cast.
The best bromance there is.
Happy I’ve watched this.
Perfect 10.

Won't tell the ending, of course!
Definitely deserves a perfect rating.
I LOVE THIS MOVIE A LOT.
