I agreed with you. Addicted 2016 is closely related to both novel 1 and novel 2. In novel 2 Xin Zi will join the…
Yes, you’re right. I have read both novels and I also can’t imagine THIS Pop to be in the army. There are so many action scenes in Book 2 — including jet fights, desert battles which require great physical abilities — and being stranded in a swamp. The character should be someone who has great masculine features which attract even his fellow men — like that army officer who keeps touching his (Yin Zi’s) birdie — in the presence of other soldiers! 🤣
Addicted Producer confirms he will no longer move ahead with season 2 of the show. ''I've fought hard for this…
Good! They’re sparing themselves from more humiliation. This adaptation is way too cringeworthy to say the least. It maybe would’ve been better if GMM-TV did it — instead of this lousy production outfit and director. AND THEY SHOULD FIRE THEIR CASTING DIRECTOR!! 🙄
Sorry, but I didn’t feel the magic that I felt in the Japanese version. There’s something lacking — the direction, maybe? All characters feel like caricatures.
Also, there are soooo many product placements!!! Big turn off.
I was excited to watch this, thinking that they’ll equal — if not surpass — the original Chinese series, but was sadly disappointed.
▪️Two main leads don’t have the appeal of the orig actors. They are both so pale! Sorry, but to some of us who have watched the original series, these two suffer in comparison.
Can’t help but compare even if we don’t want to. The “poor” guy here is whiny and un-masculine (not really feminine; can’t find a word; maybe wimpy?). He also looks dumb, especially when his mouth is agape.
EDIT/UPDATE: I don’t have an issue with their age. I didn’t know about their age gap until AFTER I posted this. The issue for me is their lack of chemistry. There is ZERO spark.
▪️Their “idol” classmate (name: Only) doesn’t look like an idol material. Tiger is better looking than him.
▪️ The girlfriend of Hero is annoyingly overacting!! And she’s not even pretty!
▪️Hero’s 2 friends (Panther and Spark) look a lot younger than him. They also look dumb. 🤣
ALSO:
▪️ Pop and his dad’s closeness is not as evident as in the original series. The original series started with the father and son having a strong, endearing relationship. Here, we don’t really feel it.
▪️That school scene (when the 2 MLs realized that they’re parents are together) was laughable. High school productions are better directed and acted. Awkward to watch. Cringey acting — esp the mother of Pop.
▪️The scene after that (Pop packed Hero’s clothes) was also cringey and badly directed. What was that??? Sorry, but I didn’t feel any emotion while watching. Pop’s acting is underwhelming, esp in THIS scene.
▪️Pop’s closeness to Tiger was not well established. It was only mentioned in passing by Only towards the end of Ep 4.
▪️It’s 2024 now but it feels like I’m watching something from 2010. Just bad, lousy direction. I don’t see how this series can be better than the original.
Now, I might just drop this (or watch the next eps in 2x speed) and just watch the original series with Gu Hai and Yin Zi.
🙄
EDIT/UPDATE: Just learned that this is from the same production group (Jinloe) and director of WHAT THE DUCK. Small wonder this also sucks. 🙄
