I agree. And at 21 eps!! I kept fast forwarding bec most scenes are just repetitions of previous ones, especially the mushy love scenes. They could have made this just 8 eps and the story will still be complete.

Bottom line, for me, is that this character is made irritatingly insufferable by the writer/s. Poor actor who was assigned the role. Any actor would have suffered the same fate bec of the way the character was written. AND that particular scene that I was talking about is gratingly forced and contrived, which makes the character all the more unbearable. I suggest you watch THAT scene again so you can see how cringeworthy it is. I was laughing in my head while watching it. THAT scene singlehandedly scarred the entire series, imho.

I never mentioned the word ANXIETY in my post. YOU were the one who used ANXITEY in your comment, so I just followed it up. You said what Chi Hoon suffers from is anxiety. Now you're saying you don't perceive it as anxiety attack. What??? Now you're contradicting yourself!

It's not just his anxiety that is cringy in the scene that I was talking about. Did you even read my entire comment? Those two other guys that were huddled in one corner -- like little kids or like girls who saw a mouse. THAT is also bad writing, directing. That is NOT "amazingly down-to-earth," is it?
Also the fact that THAT area is off limits to those who are not wearing ANY protective garment, yet they just let Chi Hoon barge in and do his stuff -- that is also illogical. Remember, they're still under quarantine bec of a very deadly virus and no one knew then what the lab test results are.
Chi Hoon's anxiety attack (so irritatingly prolonged) magically disappeared and everything's back to normal after the construction worker praised him. So, is that really how anxiety works? I'm not sure, but it sure looks contrived and forced.
CHI HOON’s character is beginning to be really irritating. First, he was just a crybaby. Now, from out of nowhere, he goes inside Chief Manager Jin’s tent WITHOUT a face mask or any protective wear. Now he gets himself bitten by that moron manager who brought this disease to their camp! He is soon to be a father. Doesn’t he even think about his wife and soon-to-be baby? He’s becoming a dumb a** Grrr!!!
And why did those two lady doctors allow him inside that restricted room?? Geez, the inanity of this scene!!!
And why are those two guys (wearing PPEs inside the room) cowering in a corner like scaredy cats?
Of course, CHI HOON still cried after THAT patient told him he acted more like a doctor now. Why does this person’s impression of him THAT important? And it had dragged on too long already. Enough, please! The earthquake is now history, and you have another crisis at hand! Stop the whining already!!

Despite that disappointing finale, this is still an impressive series – great mixture of drama and comedy, one that we can easily relate to. The lines are good, very well written. It’s still a delightful experience, all in all. It leaves a special warmth in your heart; the way RELY 1988 did. MY RATING: 9 /10 👍👍
I came here to read comments/reviews after this series won as Best Drama in the recent Blue Dragon Series Awards 2023. Also because the setting is my country, the Philippines. So, curiosity will make me definitely watch this, despite my personal "rule" to never watch anything that has an average rating of less than 8.0. Haha! 🤣

I agree. That trial was a joke. They threw in everything in there just to tie up lose ends. Like -- ASSEMBLYMAN OH was there to supposedly take down MR. SONG, not his daughter. So why was he carrying a certificate about HER mental health?? Does a father always carry such document everyday? 🤣
4 REASONS WHY I DROPPED THIS SERIES AFTER WATCHING HALF OF ITS FIRST EPISODE
I was expecting a lot from this series mainly because it came from the director and screenwriter of REPLY 1988 and PRISON PLAYBOOK, two of my favorite Korean series. Then, there’s YOO YEAON SEOK who became my favorite after watching MR. SUNSHINE and DR. ROMANTIC.
I don’t usually drop a series, once I start watching. I give it until Episode 3 or 4 to decide whether to continue or not. But for the first time, I’ve decided to drop a series after watching only half of its maiden episode. Why?
1. STUP*D ELECTRICIAN. The series opens with two of our doctors (there are five to them, 4 male, 1 female, just like the group in REPLY 1988). There’s a problem with the ceiling light so they called two electricians. The female doctor warned one electrician to wear a protective glove and first shut off the circuit breaker. But even before she can finish her precaution, the stup*d electrician fell to the floor and lost consciousness. Are all electricians this stup*d?? Why did the series open with this stup*d scene? Did it help us know the characters better? No, all we got was the male doctor is a “mama’s boy” and the lady doctor is, well, a busy doctor. To me, this opening scene is not only bleak, it’s quite useless. Big turn off and it’s just the opening scene.
2. STUP*D FRIENDS. These five people have been friends for TWENTY YEARS and yet they don’t know that one of them is the son of the Chairman of the hospital they work for?? They only found out when the Chairman died. Are these really friends?? When asked about it, the son of the Chairman’s reason was: “I was waiting for the right time to tell you, guys.” Duh. For TWENTY EFFIN YEARS, you didn’t find “the right time”?? And those friends really didn’t care?
3. STUP*D DARTH VADER. One of our main doctors was playing with his son when he was asked to perform an emergency liver transplant surgery. After hesitating, he agreed to do it. Only, he did the operation while still wearing the Darth Vader helmet – topped with a surgeon’s cap. How stup*d is that? Do they really find this amusing??
4. STUP*D CONDITION. After the Chairman died, the son gathered his doctors friends to form a “VIP WARD” group. He doubled their pay so they would agree. Only one didn’t agree right away. He said he has one condition: That they form a (musical) band. What??? Ok, so now I get it. That’s the reason for the title. Still, it turned me off, coming from nowhere.
That’s when I decided not to continue watching this series. Lots of stup***ty in half of the first episode alone. Also, the characters were not endearing. They came off as aloof, haughty, no charm. This is far from the genius of DR. ROMANTIC.
EPISODE 13: WHAT A LOUSY EPISODE! (read only if you’ve watched this episode)
This is my least favorite episode so far. And it’s the penultimate episode! ABSURD is not enough to describe how I feel about it. There’s ANDREA pretending to be KH under a blanket. Is this scene even necessary?
Then that ridiculous spiriting away of OH’s daughter.
Followed by an equally ridiculous “safe haven” scene with Samsik’s earlier tormentors.
Then there’s our two bumbling henchmen who earlier beat up a group of gangsters using only garden tools. Now, they did it again using a farm vehicle. Sure.
I’m hoping the finale will not be as ridiculous as this episode.
The OR is busy again. Wonder whatever happened to the MINISTER?? No mention of him ever again.
Also, that SECOND OPERATION booboo of DR. PARK and DR. YANG, did that go unpunished?? They have the evidence (video recording), right? So, instead of punishing PARK, he was placed as President of Doldam Hospital?? And the reporter who crucified TEACHER KIM unfairly -- and other media people who covered the Minister's operation -- didn't they write about DR. PARK's (and DR. YANG's) mistake in that second operation?
