Just my personal thoughts here and with all due respect to the original commenters, I don’t think that heterosexual…
Understood your points, but don't forget that Gen and Song are definitely showing acceptance to LGBT love (and I won't argue about it, but Nut and Tarn too).

And Tofu's love for Nut and Nut's love for Tofu are not temporary. They exists, continues on although yes, some may argue that it is different. But it is there.

To me, this show is definitely pro-LGBT although its representation may not be seen as such by everyone. It's perfectly ok if you don't see it that way.

Based on what I’ve read on the director and the author’s perspectives, and as presented in the series, Tofu’s existence is a miracle, and a miracle is something that is often temporary.

It is especially understandable that portraying this in the form of a drama series would have heightened our attachment to the character of Tofu (as compared to the novel, as we tend to be more attached to visual cues and appearances), and just as I did, many of us hoped that he would end up with Tarn.

However, in my opinion, this series perhaps also wants us to reflect and challenge the notion of endgames and who-ends-with-who narratives that are essential to many BL and non-BL series, our frequent obsessions with the romance between the leads, that has been so formulaic in many BL and non-BL series.

As we all have seen ourselves, this series is not a plain BL series unlike most others. It tackled things that were not commonly touched on by any BL series. Hence, arguably, this series is much more wholesome than who the endgame couple.

Of course, that does not mean we cannot be distraught (I was and I still am) at Tofu’s passing. It’s just that, as some of us highlighted before, ‘Love that exists won’t change, but love is something that can be different from time to time.' And most importantly, the series highlighted a lot on living in the present and moving towards the future.

I would give all of you a hug if I can. Virtual hugs to everyone! ):) 🫂

We are in this together, we grieve together, and we remember Tofu together, as the best he is in our memories (in Tofu's own words).

We all need our own Tofu after all, aren’t we? Hugs! 🧸🫂

This series has been rich in social issues, and likely to highlight that unfortunately, the sad reality is that criminals with power and money do and can get away from the consequences of their actions.

It’s not self-contradictory. What I want to highlight is, the way some were written contained an assumption that vast majority of people bitterly hate the ending, when it is not necessarily so. I shall leave it at this.

It’s perfectly alright if you interpret it differently though. Thanks! 🙏

I updated the comment above as I wasn’t done typing it.

Yes, the ending arguably could have been presented better. Nonetheless, this does not and should not ‘cancel’ the rest of the series.

Just my opinion.

Hi all, just to point out that each and every single parts of the series can be interpreted differently by viewers…
Just my personal thoughts here and with all due respect to the original commenters, I don’t think that heterosexual propaganda, suicide glorification, the series being vile and evil are what this series and ending is about.

We may see from different lenses, but I believe that while this ending may be sad or bittersweet, it does not go to the extent of what I read below.

‘There is no greater love than this, for one to lay down one’s life for a friend.’

(I see things from my Christian background and understanding, and that is perfectly valid too. The author of The Little Prince, from which Tofu’s character was ultimately inspired from, took his inspiration for the character from his Christian faith.)

(Self-sacrifice and loving one another more than even oneself has always been a hallmark of Christian faith since the beginning. Many stories of martyrs and saints that inspired authors like the author of The Little Prince were stories of self-sacrifice and love.)

Of course in Tofu’s case this is more complicated since he wasn’t a human being in the first place. But as he continued to navigate the complexities of human actions and emotions, (this part is where the novel author was again inspired by the story of The Little Prince), he began to see that while humans tend to hurt each other so much, at the same time, there are also bright side in humanity which he believed in.

(Can this part be done better? Arguably so. Maybe it could have been done in a way to present this more clearly to viewers)

Feel free to disagree, this is just my opinion.

Hi all, just to point out that each and every single parts of the series can be interpreted differently by viewers based on their personal experiences, and this includes the finale episode.

Each and every points shared in the streams of comments below are valid, and there were instances of personal experiences shared too, which is very good.

We can share our thoughts and opinions here, but let's not try to paint this series based on an ending in a particular way. Each viewers (and any future viewers) can frame this series and its messages and ideas, its scenes and actions, in their own diverse ways due to our many distinct experiences, background and more. What we may perceive as something, may very well be seen very differently by others.

I know we feel strongly for it and are still emotional, and it's good that we share these thoughts openly here.

That's why while I am also personally disappointed somewhat with the ending, while others are more affected by the ending, overall this series, its production and messages are still great.

Not a perfect series (as no series can ever be perfect), with its flaws both story wise and marketing wise as mentioned, but it doesn't deserve any hate simply just by focusing on the ending alone and ignoring the other parts.

Of course, for some people endings are very important, and it is perfectly fine not to watch the series because they don't want to see a sad ending. But most importantly, every viewers (and potential future viewers) who are willing to watch this have to be given the opportunity to form their own opinion about it and the ending.

Plus I believe it is easier for the Thai watchers to see all the hidden nuances and hints, as some of the texts in Thai are not translated into English (or not entirely translated) in Netflix. Hence, it is easy to miss out important information.

Thank you for the insight on how this series is perceived in Thailand itself. Having read the novel and understanding the intention of the writer is indeed a great advantage. I agree with you on the social issues, especially pertaining to Thailand. The team did a really great job in exploring them in detail. Family and LGBT issues too.

While rewatching the last five minutes of EP 16 again, I had gotten this feeling from the first time I watched…
If anyone can read Thai and help us translate what Nut wrote (the paragraphs below the title) on the laptop screen on his new story in the finale it will be highly appreciated.

(Or share if you happen to find someone who has done so in Twitter/IG/elsewhere)

While rewatching the last five minutes of EP 16 again, I had gotten this feeling from the first time I watched that part.

From Nut’s laptop screen on his new story - ‘The miracle… that morning’ (reference to EP 1) after Juea approved his new story, which was about Tofu and him.

(The earlier story involving Song as an actor was from Nut’s high school love story with Tarn)

And then an obvious time skip happened, when Nut told Tofu that he’s going to the celebration, for the new series (Story of Tofu and him)

Anyone else has the feeling that somehow they are breaking the fourth wall/connecting to our universe and referring to this series?

(The Miracle of Teddy Bear being Nut’s series which he wrote and then produced with Juea in the series universe)
