The final TV ratings for The Miracle of Teddy Bear is just out! Other currently airing series' ratings are also shown.
EP 1: 0.851 EP 2: 1.346 EP 3: 0.891 EP 4: 1.017 EP 5: 1.030 EP 6: 1.008 EP 7: 0.879 EP 8: 0.988 EP 9: 0.947 EP 10: 0.762 EP 11: 1.055 EP 12: 1.039 EP 13: 0.970 EP 14: 1.129 EP 15: 0.961 EP 16: 1.014
(Note: EP 8-10 aired during the Songkran public holiday which tend to show lower ratings, hence some other series had their episodes postponed that weekend, such as Cutie Pie and KinnPorsche)
Average rating per episode: 0.993 (about 1.0)
To compare with another currently airing BL in CH3 (Triage) for fairer comparison, as shown in the same source, the ratings of Triage for the first two episodes are about 0.3 to 0.35.
Despite the backlash it experienced from conservative Thai viewers especially before and at the start of the airing of the series in the form of some rather nasty and even homophobic comments in the social media, this series proved to be quite steady in its ratings. May be relatively lower compared to other CH3 programs, but a rating of 1.0 remains commendable (and expected due to its LGBT nature).
@Benedict Tan...WOW!! You're name's all over this page and I was just curious how you have so much time to devote…
Thank you for spending time to write this.
In short, Nut will never do that, hence Tofu took the first step and did everything by himself.
And Tofu wanted Tarn to have justice against those who wanted him dead. Yes, there is no guarantee that Tarn will get what he wanted, but to Tofu, as long as he is awake and be given new chance at life again, everything is possible.
I love this scene from the finale episode a lot. It shows Nut and his continuing love for Tofu.
Since there is no English translation there, here's the words for your reference (Nut writing for Tofu in his diary, and Tofu knowing all that Nut wrote for him):
'Don't be afraid that I'll stop loving you. I know it hurt that you couldn't compete with Tarn, that you couldn't help financially, that you weren't popular like him.'
'But those things don't mean anything, because who you are is what made me love you.'
'Tarn showed me the reality of this world, while you showed me the beauty in it.'
(Then, continued with the below reference to 'The Little Prince', which Nut as an avid reader is definitely familiar with)
'I really wonder where you came from. If you really fell from the sky like mom (Na) said, which galaxy are you from? It's probably really far from my universe. Your mothership must have taken you back to your place of happiness.'
'I'm sorry for what happened to you. You had to live with my dysfunctional family. If it were possible, I would forsake having ever met you, if it meant you would have a better life, so you didn't have to meet me and end the way it did.'
(Nut has always been hesitant early on to get close to Tofu, and he mentioned this around EP 7 to EP 9. Still remember him saying on a few occasions that 'Everyone who got close to me ended up getting hurt? But Tofu opened Nut's heart to love once again.)
It's been almost 3.5 months now since Bad Buddy was completed. Except for The Miracle of Teddy Bear I couldn't really find a series that is captivating enough.
Bad Buddy of course still tops the list for me! How is everyone doing?
If you have been reading my comments for the past few weeks, I have been referencing to many scenes and clues from various parts of the series. In fact as I was writing them, I was rewatching again and rewinding to the parts in the finale and the earlier episodes where I remembered things were mentioned or important clues were highlighted.
Unavoidably there was bound to be some personal inferences as there is no way for any one of us to present the information without some conjecture based on the evidences presented (but that is perfectly fine - that is what analysing a series is about). I clearly marked the part where it is my own opinions, that what I shared is not to be taken as definitive, since everyone can have their own interpretations.
Hence, with all due respect, let us all help each other to share the sorrow if you are sorrowing, and discuss things. Let us not be easily heated by emotion and arguments, regardless of what our perception of the ending or the series is.
I don’t think anyone will object to Tarn given a second chance. But so does Tofu as a person. Nut on the other…
Hi, I made some update to my reply above for more insight for you. The Little Prince is the inspiration to Tofu's actions (they did similar things, and it's not by coincidence that Tofu was mentioned as the 'little prince' even by Nut after his passing), and it is a very big part of the series plot, not from the other, out-of-series things you mentioned. I am not talking about the whole story of the actual book, but the main idea of what the character of the Little Prince did.
Plus, I just want to point out that, just because a lot of people seemed to post their unhappiness and anger here because of the ending did not mean that most people dislike the series. This is important. One cannot assume that based on this alone. Most people may very well enjoy this series and while finding the ending to be hard to swallow, but acceptable. But I won't assume that either.
I did not call anyone here who disliked the ending dumb. If you read my previous comments carefully, there is nowhere that I mentioned this. With all due respect, have you read my comments carefully? I did read all of the comments, whether positive and negative, and did I grief over Tofu? Of course I did too (and am still).
(And there is no religious fanaticism whatsoever at all in my reply above. That is just sharing facts based on what is commonly known. No offence.)
Thanks for sharing your thoughts by the way. Appreciate the time and effort you put in replying.
Tofu chose to drink poisoned drink from Jan, and he died. With his death, Tarn was awakened from his coma.Tofu…
Everyone here has their own thoughts and that's perfectly fine. Just to let you know too that just as the one who told you that many people find the ending to be horrible, there are probably as many who find it understandable and in line with the story. Those who are still grieving over the ending are likely to be much more vocal, and it is understandable.
(Although yes, as mentioned, the forced cuts to the episodes does make the ending somewhat choppy. So do take note. And regarding my last paragraph, it is all in the finale episode. There are fine details that are easily missed, so do watch out for them too.)
Form your own thoughts and ideas based on watching the story. Don't be influenced by any of us!
I don’t think anyone will object to Tarn given a second chance. But so does Tofu as a person. Nut on the other…
Tofu was actually getting all the antagonists' attention to himself, and that was why if you notice, from EP 13, he has been deliberately stirring both Jan and Saen up, repeatedly.
That was most likely deliberate on his end, knowing that by garnering attention to himself, once he is no longer around, the chances of Tarn being killed is much lessened, and as I mentioned, Saen voluntarily taking up the blame and being arrested most likely diverted attention even more.
I understand that some may see Tofu's action as a suicide, but that wasn't the case. What he was doing was an act of self-sacrifice for others. He did exactly the same as what the prince in the book 'The Little Prince' did.
The book 'The Little Prince' was prominent throughout the entire series, and it was written by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, whose prince character and actions at the end is most likely inspired by Jesus Christ. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Little_Prince
(I remember seeing one earlier comment mentioning about the Resurrection being referred to in the miraculous disappearance of Tofu and his reappearance as the teddy bear, and I agree that there is some element of it in this.)
(Not going into details or intending to make this into a religious argument, but just want to share that in Christian teachings, Jesus Christ willingly faced death and accepted all the blame to Himself, so that by His death, He may save everyone. He willingly accepted death, and by His Resurrection, a new hope is restored to mankind. This is somewhat similar with what Tofu had done. Except that unlike Christ, Tofu wouldn't have known that he would miraculously 'rise' from the dead as shown in the second miracle.)
And they all went through the healing process, Nut, Na and their friends all live their lives onward, inspired by what Tofu had done, remembering him for the best he is, as a figure of hope and purity amidst the imperfection and evils of man.
I don’t think anyone will object to Tarn given a second chance. But so does Tofu as a person. Nut on the other…
I agree that Nut should have been given a choice. To me, I think that it was partly also forced by circumstances. TRD would have either killed Tarn first or Tofu first, through Ching or through Jan.
Tofu chose to act first, and Saen taking up the blame seemed to satisfy Ching (at least what I thought), and diverting attention from Tarn, hence they didn't target him afterwards. Otherwise, after they got rid of Tofu, they might also get rid of Tarn, ending up with both of them dead, and hence, no one for Nut to even choose - an even sadder and more tragic ending arguably (not beyond the realm of possibility).
Had Tofu not willingly drunk the poisoned drink, sooner or later it was bound to be either Jan finding another way out of desperation to kill him, blinded as she was by her love for Saen, or Ching may end up getting wind of his actions, and move to get rid of him (we have seen how ruthless Ching is, and killing Tofu is something that is not beyond her league).
Note that these are just conjectures, but based on my analysis of the situation at that time when Tofu was poisoned, this is my take of what could have happened otherwise.
It seems that for a Channel 3 show, the ratings for MoTB are very low though
Exactly, but the fact that people still watch it regardless, is important. A rating of 1.0 may seem to be low for Channel 3, but it still reaches a lot of people nonetheless.
What matters is the important messages and life lessons that TMOTB is carrying across to whoever that watches it. Whether they accept it or not is truly up to them.
Just posting some thoughts I have upon looking through the story again (posted earlier below, with additions for this one):
Had it been that Tofu purposely kept Tarn in coma in order to remain with Nut (and thus being selfish like how Saen killed Sib out of anger, and how Jan herself did things for her unrequited love for Saen), then it might have been a happier ending romance wise, but an imperfect and flawed one nonetheless.
(No perfect ending for this series. We have foreseen it earlier as early as EP 12 when we have the confirmation that Tofu and Tarn are indeed linked, as many of us theorised since very early in the series.)
In order for Tarn to wake up, Tofu had to disappear/die/end being human, as him being human was the result of Tarn's attack and according to info from novel I received from sharers here, it was his wish for Nut's happiness that led to the miracle in the first place. On the other hand, for Tofu to remain human and pursue his love with Nut to the fullest (as I am sure all of us, including myself, desired), then Tarn has to remain in coma or even die. Patients on coma in general has a much shorter life expectancy, given that the doctor had already stated that he was in a brain dead situation.
(Tofu finding out about Saen killing his own brother out of impulse to keep Na from harm, disregarding the fact that this wasn't what Na wanted, has an important impact on Tofu, and him doing the same for his own benefit to the detriment of Tarn is something that clearly weighed in his mind. That was why he was so conflicted in EP 15 and early EP 16.)
Life is full of these choices, and Tofu realised that it is best that he passed on, with everyone remembering him as the best he is, rather than to be selfish and go down the same path that Jan and Saen had walked (also Sib as well, who plotted with Jan to break Saen and Na all those years ago).
(My thoughts is that, as Tofu grows to understand being human better, he also realises more and more that his life is a gift from Tarn, and he should not have existed in the first place - hence 'miracle'. As he began to realise more and more that him living preventing Tarn from recovering, he also experienced that period when he learnt human selfishness from seeing the actions of those who are around Nut, whose actions were motivated by selfish desires - by Sib, by Saen, by Jan, by Nut and even by Na. That is why he became jealous of Tarn.)
But as he helped Na to face her past and to be reconciled with Nut, Tofu himself grew to realise that true love is not selfish, and quite a few times one has to make sacrifices to make another person happy. All these led to Tofu deciding in the end to do what he thought was right (remember, the story is told mainly from his POV throughout, and we see all that), and returned the life he borrowed from Tarn, to right things up, as he realised that not only Nut deserves happiness, but Tarn as well. (Tofu to Jan: 'My love is based on truth and righteousness')
(Although Tarn is in coma throughout the episodes' timeline right after Tofu's death, but as audience, we have been presented his story with Nut and also his interactions with Jan, TRD and Saen on many episodes. I know that his story may not be that central as compared to Tofu and Nut's development (due to this series being highly Tofu POV-centric, but I believe, like Tofu, that Tarn himself also deserves a second chance in life.)
This is just my opinion. It may be an unpopular one, but I think it's something worth sharing to everyone here.
I adore Tofu and was sad to see him go back to his original form, but I'm not mad at the ending. To me, Tofu always…
This series certainly showed us that there is no perfect ending.

Tofu chose to drink poisoned drink from Jan, and he died. With his death, Tarn was awakened from his coma.
Tofu was cremated, but another miracle happened and he turned back into the teddy bear while still retaining his awareness (and ability to move). Nut found him and slowly recognised over time that the teddy bear was really Tofu.
Gen and Song were accepted by Anik, Song's father and they ended up together. Tarn recovered (after about at least a year or so), managed to win his case against the developers threatening the forest, and got Jan's house from her, where he made his art studio.
Nut still loved Tofu regardless, and while he probably got back together with Tarn again, he still kept his love for Tofu, and Tofu (being aware as a teddy bear), knew it all and is happy that Nut has finally moved on and does his best to live his life to the fullest, with Tofu and Tarn by his side (and with his mother, Na, still suffering from Alzheimer's, and the others too)
