When you compare it to other BL ratings it looks very high. When compared to Secret Crush On You and Cutie Pie.
Maybe when it is released with English sub in YouTube it will finally get the popularity it highly deserves? A lot of times it depends on us viewers and fans to hype things up too!
I wonder if Nat deserve the pitty he getting from people here, I wonder if the people that pitty him born into…
Hi J100, I really appreciate you sharing and posting your thoughts. It was nicely written. However, I just want to point out (honestly), that you have to be careful as what you have written may insinuate that those who support Nut like violence or are born into violent conditions (which are not true, at least for many of us).
To say so is a very broad sweeping statement. What most people said in the various comments in support of Nut (not that they condone what he's doing, but we all want him to grow to be better too), is that what he did is consistent of someone who had gone through the experiences he endured. There are others in real life experiencing the same things as Nut did, who probably would have acted much worse/gone totally 'nuts'.
(We do not have to be born into the same experiences in order to understand this. That is what empathy and understanding others is all about. If we observe others around us enough, we will grow to know more about them, the reasons why they do certain things, and many more.)
Whether he will get help or not, is something that he is now slowly doing (by being willing to share his life story with Tofu, his most intimate and painful past, he is slowly opening up and allowing himself to be healed. This takes time, just as his mum (Na) cannot be healed from her own trauma overnight (and sometimes, certain hurt simply can't heal or things can't go back to how it was. That is how it works in reality)
I don't think the series have to necessarily follow the novel ending. The director and screenwriter have the freedom…
Exactly, I am still looking for the novel myself. And even so, even if the novel ends in a rather sad ending (for Nut and Tofu), the series does not have to follow that path.
I do appreciate his deep rooted anger, resentment, and lashing out in physical or emotional abuse is not romanticized,…
You summarised it very well! This show has been phenomenal in touching so many important, and often sensitive topics, while keeping the story interesting and suspenseful without being dry and dogmatic.
When you compare it to other BL ratings it looks very high. When compared to Secret Crush On You and Cutie Pie.
Unfortunately Netflix Asia (and any Netflix) doesn't really show statistics the way YouTube clearly shows it. Harder to compare because of this, but as you mentioned, it is probably quite popular, more than what we may think.
Song reminds me of Sun Bo from History 3 minus the impulsivity and baby stalker vibes of a high school teen. He’s…
Yes, that was part of what made me like his character (Song) a lot, as I am Sun Boxiang's fan too. Plus, there was an age gap and also his love interest having had broken relationship before.
When you compare it to other BL ratings it looks very high. When compared to Secret Crush On You and Cutie Pie.
People will say that it's high because it's aired on CH3 and also at primetime. I've seen others who said that this series is underwhelming because other series would have garnered 2.5 - 3 rating at the same spot.
But they forget that as an LGBT (and BL) series first produced by CH3, it's revolutionary, and considering the opposition that it was getting, I wasn't surprised that the rating isn't as high as other CH3 series.
If this series turns out well until the finale, I am very sure once the YouTube version with Eng sub (for international release) will be gaining a lot of views (potentially even more than Cutie Pie!)
I was thinking, what if there are really indeed 16 episodes? But the finale episode (EP 16) are hidden for now on purpose.
If they plan to follow the original novel ending, then EP 15 shows that, before voila, revealing that a miracle happens and things ended differently, with EP 16 as the true ending (on 1 May), where Nut and Tofu are the endgame.
Just want to say that, all those who are still uncomfortable over Nut's actions, he has clearly shown that he wants to get better, and he is trying to do that, lest we forget or purposely overlook that fact (or worse still saying that he refused to change).
Gen slapping Nut (albeit lightly) also reminds us that this series and its characters do not condone his anger outbursts, but at the same time, we are presented with the backstory with the reasons behind his actions and why he was hurt to the point of doing such things.
This is now EP 10, with six more episodes to go. I am very sure that the redemption and healing arc will continue, with more suspense and angst to come in the next set of three episodes (EP 11-13). Be patient.
Does someone know if / when the episodes on youtube get subtitles? (I know you can watch it somewhere else but…
I have heard that the episodes will be internationally released in YouTube (that means with Eng sub like in Netflix) probably in May, after it is done airing in TV.
EP 1 - 0.851 EP 2 - 1.346 EP 3 - 0.891 EP 4 - 1.017 EP 5 - 1.030 EP 6 - 1.008 EP 7 - 0.879 EP 8 - 0.988 EP 9 - 0.947 EP 10 - 0.762
As the past weekend was Songkran holiday, it is expected for the latest three episodes to have some dip in the ratings. It is still holding up well, considering the holiday handicap!
Can anybody just confirm if it is a HAPPY ENDING OR SAD! Dont have to go in details just confirm if it is a happy…
I don't think the series have to necessarily follow the novel ending. The director and screenwriter have the freedom to modify it, and I personally have hope that Tofu and Nut will be together in the end.
I am hoping for the happy ending, but regardless, the journey is what matters. I will enjoy this series no matter what.
tarn and nut together again and tofu returned as teddy bear
The series does not have to follow the path of the original novel. And I hope that the screenwriter and the director will not follow that path. Just as Tofu himself said in one of the earlier episodes that he will write his own ending, then I hope for the best for Tofu and Nut to the very end.
Happy ending for both of them. I am really hoping for it.
I think ep 8's the beginning of redemption/healing arc that everyone's looking forward to. And no Nut's abusiveness…
I posted before that Jan very likely colluded with Sib (and it was proven in this episode), and EP 8 showed that it was likely not only that Jan colluded with Sib, but that teacher who became the deputy director of the school were also complicit in this. The evil triangle.
And I was also thinking that since Saen and Sib are both identical twins, the grandma likely had mistaken Sib for Saen in that hospital scene. She thought that the one who was by her side together with Na was Saen, whom she saw with Na earlier on (the grandma was happy looking at Na and Saen together).
How so? Poor eyesight and she was already in poor condition back then, which might worsen her ability to recognise Sib. Saen and Sib might have different hairstyle, but they still had the same face (coz they were played by the same actor!)
I am still watching EP 8 (halfway), but that's what I thought.

Thanks for mentioning Sun Bo!

Windfancyart’s illustration of the ‘sweet like jelly’ high school kiss!
This shows that while Nut still remembered all the good times he once had with Tatarn, but he had moved on from him.
