Well i saw another drama of his i think it was called the glory or something like that. There were also no romantic…
One & Only cant have kissing scene since the FL is engaged to the Crown Prince mostly entire of the show. But the modern version of their reincarnation life which is Forever & Ever has kissing scene, in fact lots of various different kissing scenes in that drama.
Understood. Thats why I said you better stay clear since his dramas are mostly with very little romance.
Well i saw another drama of his i think it was called the glory or something like that. There were also no romantic…
Glory? Glory of Tang Dynasty? There were like 5 passionate kissing scenes in that drama.
But most his dramas are non-romance or romance as a subplot so you better avoid all his dramas then. He only take this drama since he is forced to film it in order to break away from his contract. He hasn't take romance dramas for nearly 3 years already. The last big romance drama that he took is The Blue Whisper and there are like 7 kissing scenes in there.
RJL has a lot of intimate scenes in many of his dramas. He do not have problem doing romance dramas at all. His last kissing scenes is his drama The Demon Hunter's Romance back in April 2025 which is 6 months ago. Do not believe gossip spread by antis/YXH accounts. Mostly all his romance dramas are hit at China; Under the Power, One & Only, Forever & Ever, The Blue Whisper, etc..
This drama lack of screen times between the leads since its H&R dramas made solely to promote their other actors. Thats why the supporting casts have a lot of screen times. While the leads only appear for a few minutes multiple of times in many episodes.
In the final episode, they even cut the bed scene between ML & FL where the FL is pregnant for a second time in the drama when there is a scene of that in the trailer. Both RJL and PXR are victims in this horrible production. 😅
One of the thing I love about our couple is that they have this tacit understanding with each other.
Like during the last arc, Xuanye didnt leave Banxia again. He just told her to wait for him as he needs to settle something. And Banxia didnt gives up on him but she just finally understand him that he is dangerous now, she cant be with him now, thus waiting for him at home is what she is going to do. The couple has this tacit understanding that no words are needed between them. This is also a form of communication between couple when they actually understand each other even without words. So in this context, neither is Xuanye is bad at communicating nor Banxia is being immature to insist of being with him. They just understand each other.
This is a very good review. You actually write in details what makes the drama so special, which is nuance of the show that many people probably missed. The details in the drama totally took my breath away.
He is known to be willingly to dress down for a role. Have you seen him in the Burning Flames when he played a…
Yes, for Burning Flames. The hate was real lol. This turnip hairstyle, people seemed to love despite it does make him look unattractive. But I personally dig it. He looks like a character with his mannerism and all thus I'm seeing him an Xuanye totally instead of RJL the actor.
The drama is refreshingly very entertaining. Felt very different that the stories we usually get in Cdramas. No such thing about leads becoming too effeminate thus this style for the drama. They just simply styled him according to the character he supposed to play just like Song Zuer's hair, just follow the real history Tang Dynasty's female hairstyles. If anything, you can notice how they really took time at the beginning like most dramas from the past 2 years, very well written so far.
I'm actually did not like stories with demon but surprisingly I'm totally engaged now. The plot are intriguing thus it makes you feel excited.

You probably one of the few who think that. At China, he got so much criticism and hate for that style that he actually have to address it that he's playing a character in one of the interviews.
I admire him so much!!You can feel his righteousness bubbling off th screen too.I kindly disagree with you calling…
Most of the gossips you read about him on the net is untrue. Its really rampant thats why I have to make this comment. At China, he sued all of the people who make this kind of rumours. They really have to pay heavy fines and post an apology letter online.
I don't know who did the hairstyling and why they chose to do it like that, but his hair looks like a turnip head…
He is known to be willingly to dress down for a role. Have you seen him in the Burning Flames when he played a slave? Xuanye is a demon hunter and not a rich lord or a prince. Thus the messy hairstyle and cheap costumes.
For the girls, the drama team wanted to follow Tang Dynasty hairstyles like in the history. Try to google how the women looks there.

Sorry, when I meant as a 'nobody', as in entertainment industry. There are many rumours saying she is a rich person who funded his career, etc... Which is not true at all. He struggling for nearly 10 years before making it big in the industry.
He's actually doing great why you people are so stupid judge a whole romance drama on the basis of kiss until…
When he avoid intimacy with a woman? Can you name me which dramas? Under the Power? Miss Crow? Did you know he had lingering cough for a few years thats why he avoid kissing scenes? Do you still want him to kiss despite of that?
All his last dramas are not romance focused so it makes sense not to have kissing scenes. For his romance dramas like Blue Whisper, there are kissing scene for an example.
Its MDL fault for putting the romance tag. He did not act in romance story here. When he agreed to this script, he knew it wasnt a romance drama. This drama is not a romance story.
Love the story and the leads have awesome & good relationship with each other. I really enjoy this one. And Ren Jialun is in a bubbly role, he is hilarious to watch.
i agree completely with alot of what you said!! but not all 😀I was actually going "wtf" when I saw they brought…
How to get through the sea passage without their power? Wu Geng & co. do not have the expertise to get through the last sea hurdles. They also do not have any knowledge how to handle it. Even with the mermaid and her Dad, she has to sacrifice herself so that they can get past the sea turbulence part successfully.
Thats why I love this drama. The writer do not make the ML a perfect Gary Stu who is overpowered and can beat everyone easily. He achieved all this with many people's help aside from his power. He went to every clan and ask for their help and expertise. And because of that, the power of the ants (human) can beat the elephant (immortals). The mermaid is also an important 'ants' and she lend her power so that they could be successful.

The mermaid girl and her Dad is important to the plot though. Without them, the Wu Geng cant go to see Hei Long and get through their last hurdles on the ship. That is why she is important to him and the plot as she will sacrifice herself for the greater good and help him to achieve his mission.
hii want start to watch this drama for Landy Li (so talented and lovely actress)but there are two problems :D…
1) You can stop at the end of Episode 39 and pretend everything is well at the end. But the ending is very well done. Its sad but make sense. But the end of 39 is indeed a good point to stop as it even address what ML wants to achieve for his people. 2) This is actually one of Jeremy's better roles. He is stuck doing idol dramas with younger actress that he didnt enjoy but his character here, despite being a 2nd lead actually complex and with meat. Yes, he was obsessed but at the same time, he did many amazing thing since the obsession didnt really cover his whole screen time. He is more focus on the politic part and his rivalry with the ML. He gave up on the FL 8 episodes before the end. Then he form friendship with the ML and FL and it was such an amazing last arc for the rest of the drama. The romance, despite being brief are very well done. The main leads have amazing chemistry.
Actually, its always interesting to read international viewers reasons to watch this drama. They will say they come for Jeremy or Landi. But at China, it is the opposite. Ren Jialun is actually one of the actors with the most hit dramas for the past years. But he is really not popular outside of China somehow. 😅
Yeah, his fans are really against it tbh. They dont want another 'vase' role like he had in The Double. But its…
Yeah, I'm so happy for him. But the black marketing he has to experience last year was brutal. I'm happy he bring all those accounts to court and won. They have to issue public apology since they smear his name.
oh maybe that's why i really like his character, the way he express his emotions through his eyes is great acting,…
Then we see the drama differently. While he was obsessing over her, he also do a lot of scheming and brilliant chess moves and matched Wei Zhou in term of wits each time. Like during the whole case on Nanling, it was one after another plans to threw his clan and reinstate his position at the court while also protecting his clan at the same time. Then he comes out with the Military plan in order to control Lu Yu. Then at Yuelou, his plans put Yuelou under pressure and the killing of the hostages are all part of his plan. Then when he didnt get what he wants, the used the Emperor as a pawn to get him Jiang Ci with the engagements. When you see it beyond the obsessive part, he remains complex. Then you laced it with his attempt to get out from his mother's control while still remain loyal to the country. I'm sorry you dont see it that way.
He is not a champion of sad endings, out of all his 20 dramas, only 4 with sad endings.
What I like about his sad endings are that it make sense and suit the stories. It wasnt out of sudden or forced. People usually described his sad endings as poignant, heartbreaking but beautiful.
