I haven't watched the original, so my question is for all those who have. How different is the remake to the original? Was the lead falling in love with his best friend storyline in the original too? I would watch the Japanese version, but I'm putting it off until I finish this one because I don't want to get the storylines and characters confused.

I have a huge, huge, huge doubt. If she’s from the future, how are two characters who are dead in the present? I’m only basing that Hyun Ki was killed by the control bureau after he came in contact with the guy, on the fact that the Chinese restaurant owner was killed too. But didn’t his brother actually die? I know none of this has been explained yet, but if the plot hole is too messy to ignore and forgo if it is not explained soon. I started watching for Jo Seung Woo, and until now don’t have any other reason to continue but him.
Oh god! It’s like you read my mind! Every time I even think about dropping a drama I get this really icky feeling and end up watching the entirety of it, no matter how terrible it is. I think I might use some of your tips to ensure that I don’t waste my time and at the same time not get that gnawing feeling that comes with dropping dramas =)
