In the novel, FLX is also a shady, anti-hero type of character. He is 'after the world' too. They have made FLX more likable and 'perfect c-drama male lead' type in the drama. Also, when you read the novel, you'll know why Huang Chao will fit more into the emperor's role than FLX. Not that FLX doesn't have the will or the strength to be the emperor, he just doesn't deserve the cruel and lonely life an emperor has to lead. Huang Chao is ready to face that life, FLX isn't. FLX is vulnerable without BFX's love and company.

If FLX becomes the emperor, he'll most likely end up like BFX's father who lost BFX's mother (his true love) while fulfilling his duties. Also, an emperor needs to have consorts and concubines, but BFX prefers monogamy after seeing her mother suffer. So, it's best for them to become commoners, have each other's lifelong company, and travel the world together. That is a truly happy ending that they both deserve.

I want to see more of their interactions before his character's role ends. Probably we'll get to see him again when BFX returns to Qingzhou or visits her sick father

That's right. I wish he gets more main lead roles in future dramas. His acting is so good and convincing. He does justice to his role in WRTW and DBF

BFX's brother's character was never introduced in the novel as far as I'm aware. Even the Feng brothers had no role in the novel.
And yes, sorry to say this, BFX's brother will die (based on the novel). That is why BFX will become the Queen as the only heir. If you want to watch the actor playing her brother, one of his dramas recently aired.

No. He is using the flower they won together in Mount Wu to save BFX. He will not lose his martial art skills.

The preview for ep 32 shows HFX using the jade moon flower to save BFX. He won't lose his martial arts. Towards the end, when the war takes place, BFX will be severely injured while leading her army against Huang Chao. So, HFX will use his inner strength to save BFX. That's when HFX will get his white hair (last 2 eps)
