I wanted to talk about the novel since a very long time. If I never read it, I was going to miss out on so many things and so many details. Everything is so well explained from slightest face expressions to intentions to actions. It's really so much more fun. Since I already watched the drama and read the manhua beforehand, it made so much easier for me to understand the novel.
Considering flashbacks, If I had to read the novel first, that would've really be so confusing for me. The only negative point for the novel is that sometimes, 2-3 paragraphs into the chapter, you can't tell that you're in the past already, because it starts all of a sudden, sometimes abruptly. That's why I really appreciate that the drama makers compiled all the flashbacks together and put it in a sequence. Great job done there.
Unlike drama, i laughed so much reading the novel. Watching drama, I only remember myself crying alot lol. (Probably because the blow was for the first time and also alot for me ๐ญ). In drama, i cried only for WWX but surprisingly reading the novel i never shed a single tear for him (probably because now I'm immune to his pain). Instead i cried for Jiang Cheng, Wen Ning, Jin Guangyao and Jin Ling. And also, surprisingly, JC made me laugh so much too.
Some moments/things are just too funny to not talk about -
1- Lan Jingyi's whole existence.
2- JGY wipes his sweat while LXC tells him that 'it was really hard earlier but he did a very good job' when Nie Mingjue appears from behind mocking, "Yeah, talking is a very hard job".
3- JGY running away on the sight of NMJ and hiding behind LXC, triggering him everytime and a few days later appearing at his home to play 'soul calming song' for him.
4- JC following WWX and LWJ outside Lotus pier and catching WWX leaping on LWJ and getting mad over it (I rolled off my bed laughing, because i imagined his face expression).
5- JC's face darkening from even slightest form of interaction with women. (Except his mother and sister)
6- Wangji leaving A'Yuan in a pile of rabbits.
7- Lan Qiren fainting again and again on listening to WWX's De@th-pacito.
8- JGY asking WWX "You two got seperate rooms ?" (Born to be a fudanshi, forced to be a villain lol)
9- Wangji lifting coffin with 2 bodies inside it, sealed with that big, heavy Guanyin statue and Wei Ying atop it, with just one hand. Also before that he snapped trees in half with just one punch of his hand ykiyk. Deforestation final boss.
10- The ducklings blushing and running away from WangXian because of their PDA. They be feeling like 'I'm not even here, I'm just a hallucination'.
So many more that i can't talk about it in one go. 6 months into this fandom I'm already done with 2 adaptations and the novel. I've still got two more adaptations to go (Donghua and Audio drama). After that I don't know what to do with my life.
Sorry for the long yap .. but the novel was so worth it lol.
Lately, Iโve been wondering if the story would be any different if WWX had heard LWJ saying 'WangXian' that day in the Xuanwu Cave. (I love the original story but I'm just curious lol)
Also, Huaisang being the mastermind has cr*minally low screentime. I mean yes, it goes by the novel so I can't do anything about it but i really wanted to know how Huaisang worked up his plans from his point of view and i actually watched the spin off to get that but sadly it was also just the story behind Huaisang choosing revolution and turning on his mastermind mode. It was beautiful story of the Nie brothers though.
Guys i heard that the cast of Goblin is going to celebrate 10th year anniversary. Gong Yoo, Lee Dong-wook, Kim Go-eun and Yoo In-na are confirmed to participate in a special program which is set to air in first half of the year.
I can't believe it's already 10 years to some of the greatest dramas released in 2016. ๐ญ

I also saw a BTS where WYB, XZ and Yubin were reacting to the 'Jiang Ancestral hall scene' in which WWX was so weak that he faints and LWJ quickly holds him. All of them saw it and XZ was so shy that he gagged and squealed but WYB was just normal and laughing like 'Bo-di will always hold you ge-ge'.
WYB is always his 'confident self' and XZ his 'save me from all this g@y $h*t self'.

But it's real that XZ is the only person he truly ever enjoyed acting with. He was being such an evil, clingy baby with him. XZ had to do dual work lol. On-screen he acted WWX and behind the scenes he was babysitting WYB. ๐

I see .. I understand. You might find the number of characters in it too much .. but all of these characters are equally important and together they're responsible for building the whole story. I hope you understand.
Once the relationships, betrayals and sacrifices unfold .. those characters will become much easier to remember because their roles start connecting to the main conflict.
{Ngl, this having so many characters, clans and whatnot was so interesting for me bcz I was new to the cultivation world and I was very much curious about it. I especially loved them having multiple names/titles. I even enjoyed asking about it here and there .. when I didn't understand the purpose and meaning of all those names and titles. Nd i got to know the level of proximity between two individuals just by the way they call eo with different names. So interesting.}
They will return to present in ep. 33 and from there the story becomes much more intense and WWX and LWJ's relationship becomes goofier and stronger.
And it's my first time hearing someone being content in Lan Wangji's "mmmmhh"s lol. Imagine every character being like LWJ in this .. you will have to learn a new language to understand this drama (or you will probably have to take special classes from Lan Xichen to understand all the meanings behind those hmmms, mhhms and quiteness. JK. Idk if you realized but in ep. 13 he barely spoke 3 words -not even words- I saw it in a meme and it was true. Wang Yibo did a good job pulling on that expressive, elegant, stoic face though ๐ญ)
Also, Xiao Zhan didn't lose his blood, sweat and tears over those BIG BOOKS of LONG @$$ SCRIPT just to be called him being "Over the top" with the character Wei Wuxian. WWX is supposed to be this shameless and goofy. I'll never feel bad over people criticizing other actors/actresses of this drama but XZ .. because he did an exceptionally good job playing WWX. No-one can ever do WWX like him. He deserves nothing but praise. So, I'm kinda sad about it. ๐
But anyways, I recommend you to read the novel .. If you feel like the acting is not for you. Nothing can be done to make it right then i guess.

All the tragedy and heart-break starts from ep. 15. Then everything that will happen up until ep. 19 is gonna be the reason for a brand new WWX.
If you're on ep. 13 then you surely haven't seen 'Xuanwu killing' yet. It's coming up and there are so many things to look forward to like 'Sunshot campaign' and the whole 'Yiling Patriarch arc' in upcoming episodes.
(My personal favourite eps. are 14, 20, 32 and 46)
There is no point in saying "I'M NOT GETTING THE HYPE" again and again. Though it is slow it is very much worth the hype. It has a great story and a very outstanding cast especially Xiao Zhan.
Watch it upto ep. 20 atleast and if you still don't like it then drop it.
Really curious about how this pair (Gong Yoo and Song Hye-kyo) will work out. I like both of them. I think this is their first time being on a project together. I am very much excited for this one.

I think you should watch it all. There is an afterlife scenario in the end of the last episode which emphasizes on "happily ever after" .. where they meet and are finally free from the burdens, familial duties, and manipulations of their past lives. That's my take though.
