Unlike Hidden love, i'm liking it from the start. The living conditions are shocking. I didn't expect it to be so loaded from the very 1st ep. and I also miss the old Sang Yan. I feel like i'm going to like this alot.
I liked it. It's good to watch something light-hearted like this once in a while. It's a 7/10 at most if we consider DJX and SZ's story and chemistry, but all the other things combined (family, friends, colleagues, etc) it becomes 8/10.
I really like Sang Yan and the parents. Sang Yan and Sang Zhi's sibling chemistry is the best in this drama. Even though I find Sang Zhi a little cringe as a sister, still if I go back, I don't remember enjoying such a fun sibling bond in any drama. The parents are really otherworldly lol, if parents like this exist then I think kids will find themselves "heard". What do kids even want ? To be understood by their parents the most !! Isn't it ?
It's good that he started liking her only after she became an adult. And I think a 5 year age gap is just fine, any bigger number than that is a little concerning.
One more thing !! Why did they make Sang Zhi sound like that bro ? I'm sorry but it was not cute. Why not use Zhao Lusi's original voice, soft yet mature, I think it's beautiful ?? 😭
Dressing up nicely is good but please mind seasons. My body shivers seeing her wearing those clothes in peak winter. Like girl, cover your legs and shoulders, put some clothes on please. Wdym you don't wear clothes outside and feel cold or uncomfortable, so he gives you his jacket ? You will be doing DJX a favour, if you are properly clothed "by making him worry less about you". 😵
The "water offering" scene in ep. 10 is hilarious. I only realized after watching it several times that their hands were touching each time he offered her water and that's what he felt shy about. 😂
The Dad - Childish, doesn't know when to co-operate and make his family worry less about his condition, looks down upon his daughter's dreams.
The Mom - Careless, knows how to cry, feel sorrow, anger and despair about her husband's condition but doesn't accompany and tells her young-clueless-inexperienced daughter to handle and BRIBE a respected doctor to take incharge of her husband's surgery all alone, and she herself does the other insignificant work and pays bills in the hospital only.
The Daughter - Big Mouth + Clueless, Blatantly blames and looks down upon the doctor after taking advantage of him in the pub, calls him "A Boy Toy" and declares him an unreliable doctor just because he looks pretty, wanders everywhere in the hospital like it's her own house and believes in the non-sensical rumors about the doctor circulating in the hospital.
The Daughter's bsf - DISGUSTING + A BAD INFLUENCE + ROTTEN TO THE CORE, a very very bad friend and a person in general, strands her drunk friend and let her be all over a man in the pub after finding her father arrived, sets up her *young* friend with a doctor in his thirties just so that she could seduce him to perform a surgery on her father, tries finding a doctor from an unreliable source, a person whom she is flirting with and just met a few days ago.
The Doctor - Doesn't know how to reject a patient or their family clearly, straight on their faces and is way too immersed in a patient who doesn't really appreciates his good will.
The Doctor's friend/admirer/fiancé - Is a Doctor herself, knows he's suffering from PTSD and that can cause him to ruin a patient's life while performing surgery which can ruin his entire career in that line, still pushes him everytime to do the surgery instead of supporting his decision and advising him to get help or rehabilitation.
I need this. The synopsis sounds a little terrifying. Honestly. with that level of smartness, Zang Hai can become the emperor but sadly he doesn't want to go in this line.
100/10. Smash hit. Well made. Excellent cast. First drama this year that gets full rating from me. Nothing missed and no dragging. The suspense kept me sat, from beginning till end. This really deserved all the awards it won up until now, deserves more.
What I loved -
1- The idea of starting from Zero and becoming a Hero. 2 - Using pen and wits instead of using sword and force. Proved that the one who uses brain will be always more smart, successful and dangerous than the one who uses violence brooo. That's why the first one to take blow from Zang Hai was Marquis of Pingjin. 3 - Following the right path, even while seeking revenge.
Honestly, I want more of this. I guess it's all Xiao Zhan's magic. Since another season has been announced already, I'm joining the list of people eagerly waiting for it. The story is not over yetttttt, haha.
Zhao Bingwen is sus .. i swear every innocent and patient looking face is the most scheming and treacherous personality of the show (including Zang Hai). I refuse to believe that he's such a good person. If i later find out that he's the ult villain, i'm going to give my head into the wall.
Zang Hai revealing his true identity to Marquis was totally heart shaking, anxiety giving, eye widening, jaw dropping, head banging, satisfying scene. That evil smile was everything, i replayed it so many times.
He literally brought the whole family down, eye for an eye. Still decent enough to leave the one whom he thought was innocent. Well played Zang Hai. ❤️😭👏🏻
Everything heated up after ep. 21. So intense, i hope everything goes well for Zang Hai. Seems like Zhuang Zhixing saved Marquis a/c to the plan they made together but I don't think ZH will back down easily and if I'm correct ZZX and ZH will clash in future, right ?? Loving it so far, looks like revenge is one of my favourite genre. I have never hated a revenge story, up until now.
Also, wth is "Royal Hostage" brooo ? Kidnapping, but make it noble, if it's done by the emperor ? I can't believe something like this existed. Kinda funny. 😭
Xiang Antu and Zang Hai make a great power couple, they are not a couple yet but ik they will be in the future. I love their interplay, both are beauty with brain, well suited for eo. It's just sad that ZH can't commit yet because he doesn't want to hurt her by including her in his plan. Can't wait for the day they admit their feelings for eo and stop playing in a circle. Everytime I see them on the screen, I only smile and squeal. They're so playful and adorable, always teasing eo non-stop, haha. ❤️❤️
