I am a glutton for punishment where Viki Commenters are concerned. For instance a particular scene will come up and I am either enraged or squealing, so I go to the Comments and turn it On, to see what others and saying then promptly turn it right back Off realizing there is no way possible we could be watching the same thing. But I keep doing it...."absolutely shambolic" indeed.

Title The Red Sleeve Spoiler
As someone who enjoyed the show, I'll say one of the main reasons why I liked TRS so much was because I kind of…
Loved that you included their primary Love Language in your synopsis. For sure , Yi San's was Words of Affirmation given how earnest and craven he went about needing to be validated by her but I think though that Deok Im's would be Quality Time since she resisted for so long to be his concubine knowing that she would have to share him with other women in addition to his other responsibilities as King. The scenes where they spent time together be it bantering/bickering or just "being" in the moment together seemed precious to her as well as how important time spent with her friends were to her. Just a thought!
Ultimately I think that this was where her hard choice had to be made. Can I be OK with sharing him. I loved the final scene before she capitulates when Yi San asks her straight out If she would be OK never seeing him again.. I just about died. Whereas it was love at first sight for Yi San, for her it was more of a slow buildup and there is no doubt in my mind that she loved him as much as much as he loved her, she just refused to tell him. Such a beautiful love story.

For those of you who are new watchers of this drama or for those who have already completed all 17 episodes and are just back here to randomly read the Comments, please indulge me while I tell you how I almost missed out on this masterpiece. So I initially started TRS way back in November when it first aired not knowing anything much about it other than the synopsis given on my streaming site and my love for Lee Jun Ho after seeing him in Just Between Lovers. I would be lying if I said that I enjoyed the first couple of episodes. Quite the contrary actually. I felt it had the potential to go in the direction of a Rom-com and the idea that Deok Im had no idea what the CP actually looked like just seemed farfetched to me given that she had lived her entire life being groomed to be a Court Lady. I have since apologized to myself for my ignorance about such matters. With this disenchantment, I dropped it and moved on. However, this past week, a friend encouraged me to give it another shot raving about the storyline, the leads, the cinematography and on and on and on. So I did and now find myself in the camp of "How do I move on past this?"
Let me just say, I cannot recall a time (Ever) when I hit the rewind button on the remote for a drama as much as I did with TRS, nor can I recall a lead couple who dripped as much chemistry as Yi San and Deok Im. Maybe the leads in 1% of Something, but not nearly as close. This was at insane levels and I cannot even imagine anyone else playing their roles so intertwined and perfect they were. The "feels" they projected are so palpable that I will not even watch BTS shots of the episodes on YouTube preferring to stay in my bubble and just believe that every line, every scene shot together affected them both as it did me. With that said, I have had to hit the pause button and get myself together for episode 17 knowing what is to come. To my bestie who forced me out of my comfort zone, a big Thank you for I would have been so mad with myself if years had passed before I re-discovered this gem without ever giving it a chance initially. Honorable mention...Wikipedia. Lots of historical information gathered there which helped me to understand the dynamics of that era.
So if you are on the fence as I was, unsure whether or not to jump in, I will encourage you to give it a shot, and keep the tissues nearby....you will need them.

Title Her Bucket List Spoiler
I want the time I spent watching this drama back!! lmao... Honestly felt like the FL was a cruel jerk to the ML…
You beat me to it. At least though you finished it. I could not go past episode 8. The acting for me was actually pretty good which is why I continued on but the stupid misunderstandings, her awful treatment to the ML which was completely undeserved and the 3rd love triangle just did me in.

Title Her Bucket List Spoiler
Upto ep 8 its good. When they introduced new 3rd ml for fl. I just rolled my eyes. She just need sometime for…
Agreed. There I was deluding myself that there would be no misunderstandings and then BAM! She could have easily explained to him when he found the journal that that was her state of mind before because of the guilt poured on her from her boyfriend's family but that somewhere along the line her feelings changed and she was actually having fun doing things with him. But Noooooo!. I swear I wonder a lot if writers of these dramas work in shifts. One for the beginning, one for the middle and one for the end., and what was the purpose of a 3rd love interest if not just to aggravate me.

Baek Hyun Jin must really hate playing the good guy. Everything I have ever seen him in, he is the consummate a*hole.

Hmm....I get our dilemma and Netflix has a such a limited amount of "good dramas." IMO. I think Touch your Heart is there now. I liked that one too. It was cute with a satisfactory cast of side characters. A true romcom. Fingers crossed 🀞.

That was one more thing throwing me off. Baek Kyung as Jang Woo in When the Weather is Fine is the complete 180 of a character. There he plays a funny, blundering, perpetually nervous guy and since Extraordinary You was the second time seeing him in a drama, it unnerved me how cold and mean he was. He is that good an actor I guess. πŸ˜‰

Since romance is my favorite genre (I want to see romance in everything😊) , I can only recommend those first. Fantasy my least. I took a look at your Watchlist and noticed you have When The Weather is Fine on your Plan To Watch list. With that said, drop everything and start that ASAP. It is the perfect combination of romance, with a hint of mystery. and real world issues that were dramatically executed. I cannot say enough about the chemistry with the leads. The reviews on MDL were all over the place, so just keep an open mind. I am sure that I have logged at least 5-6 re-watches which is unheard of for me. Then maybe after that A Piece of Your Mind which includes a bit of fantasy/sci-fi elements but for the most part is just an incredible romance drama. BTW, Crash Landing on You was my very first K drama too and to this day is still one of my all time favorites. Happy Watching!

Um, I doubt Writer Lee and Director Shin would readily admit to a re-write given how crazed fans of the show were with the outcome, in addition to the mystery husband fatigue game we had to play from the previous Reply series. Personally though, I was the lone one who was happy with Deok Sun's choice of Taek. All my friends passionately disagreed with me. For me what I saw was a more palpable chemistry between the two and felt that in the long run he was a safer choice as a husband than Jung Hwan. I did read on-line that "supposedly" there were clues throughout the drama but try as I might, I just did not find them on my second re-watch. So with that said, I will just revel in my ignorance. Thanks though for the comment.

Thanks for commenting, U have not seen the other dramas here, and you have a point about Jin Ah, I was so mad…
Actually "attempted" to watch a few listed. Extraordinary You - bailed at the quadrangle love story. I can barely tolerate a triangle much less one extra.
Devil Judge - For someone who was supposed to be so smart, Ga On's not so subtle fact finding line of questioning about his boss to anyone he could find troubled me. Not to mention the first episode where Yo Han single handedly took out the suicide mission speeding bus while Ga On who just happened to be passing by in time to grab the little girl, remained frozen in the street so captured he was by the shooter that he forgot to expedite the move, was just laughable. I mean I get it that with these dramas, there is a level of suspension of logic and belief for us the viewers, but sometimes it's just too much.
One Spring Night - I felt this was the Writer/Director's attempt to atone for the mess they created with Something in the Rain since almost the entire cast sans Son Ye Jin was present and while I did like it (huge fan of Jung Hae In), Joo Min Kyung was just wrong for the role of the female lead I thought, There is just something cold about her character's execution in everything I have seen her in.
Doom at your service - I tried, I really did, but could not warm up to the acting of both leads nor the storyline. Sorry I did not share your enthusiasm and since I don't think it is really fair to give a rating to a drama that I have not watched at least 1/2 way through if I really hate it, I just leave if off my MDL watchlist.

I read somewhere that the ending was changed by the Writer/Director because it was leaked before the final reveal episode. I tend to believe that narrative because if you watch closely when they give their mini documentary interview as a married couple years later, Park Bo Gum's body language and voice inflection is completely devoid of that adoration he had for Hyeri practically all his life. Instead what we see is more in line with Jun Yeol (who she is coupled with IRL), where he looks and speaks to her more in a bemused way which was his character all along. Of course that does not mean that people don't change and the hot and heavy does not wane after a while but where Park Bo Gum was concerned, that was never going to change IMO.

Too many to list here but the two that stand out to me for sending me to unsafe blood boiling levels would have to be A Pledge to God and Something in the Rain (maybe because I actually completed them). The former for asking the viewers to allow Na Kyung's character to forfeit any accountability for her wrongdoings and instead accept that she should not have to pay for any of her moral crimes.
With Something in the Rain, yes Jin Ah's mother was a crazy lunatic, but my frustration lay more with Jin Ah's immaturity and decision making at almost 40 years old. Not to mention her penchant for lying to Joon Hee towards the end of their relationship.
Under your heading of: Selfish and controlling parents
The father in the Chinese drama "The Bond" would give Jin Ah's mother a run for her money. No redeeming qualities whatsoever but in the end he got his just deserts.
Can a person really be that stupid?
That honor for me goes to Hae Ra in Black Knight. At what point was she going to stop running to Sharon and falling into her villainous antics. And the end...WTF was that??? But I stayed riveted for Kim Rae Won and the fashions.

On Would You Like a Cup of Coffee? Nov 20, 2021
There is nothing earth shattering or dramatic with this drama but it is so warm and a treat to look forward to with each episode. Just wish the episodes were a bit longer than 30 minutes. I love how Go Bi gets more and more confident and humble as time goes on and learns bit by bit to not so easily judge a book by it's cover from his mentor Park Seok. Once they get started on macro water filtering techniques, I am so lost but it does make me appreciate how intricate and laborious making a good cup of coffee can be. Now I understand why "Baristas" are so easily offended if they are called anything else and when the fruits of their labor are not appreciated.
