Okay, I'll lay off the analogies before people are like, 'shut up already'. Haha 😄.
There is a new adaptation to this with a lot of similarities but I can't find it, nor the actors on MDL. The ML (who has a slanderous reputation for being a philanderer / playboy) creates a dragnet style trap around Beijing to funnel the FL directly into his life. People around the city seem to obey him and he has significant influence and control. He has lackeys. There's several hints (to us viewers) that he is an underground boss but that identity is never revealed to the FL. Usually, I'd want to know his identity for sure but this drama somehow leaves the viewer contentedly intrigued and wondering. The ML seems to have a lot of money but we never see it fully manifested. He lives an alias life as the frugal owner/mechanic of an auto shop (may or may not be a shell company). He and the FL live humbly and happily in a tiny basic apartment. He protects her from everything and secretly punishes anyone who bullies her. It is SUUUPER incredibly romantic and cute. Excellent chemistry with LOTS of butterflies 🦋🦋.

Oh, that's interesting as well! I didn't even notice the other smoking locations or even the types of transportation! However, I liked them enough to rewatch for sure! I liked ALL the ML's and FL's, EXCEPT for Zhao Zaoer in "Zero Degree of Ambiguity" because her character was cantankerous the entire drama, which is exhausting. Li Shengjie didn't deserve that! 😉

Oh yeah, ...but I wanted to add real quick that watching verticals on iQIYI did require a kidney, because they use the "coin-buying" process. It takes around $18 to complete one short drama 😬. I made an even WORSE mistake one time using KALOS to watch the full version of "His Ultimate Favor is Me" / Saved by His Tender Love" (Yu Long / Yang Memei) because I couldn't find the FULL version anywhere. It cost $65 in coins... I was SO stupid. (I did it for Yu Long! 😶🩵) Lol. Anyway, NEVER again, though. At least the short dramas on Tencent Video and YOUKU are included with the cheap monthly / annual subscription.

For sure 😄. I actually don't mind subscribing and watching these dramas on their official platforms, but its hit and miss (a lot of miss). Its like treasure-hunting. I'm already subscribed on 5 paid-apps (iQIYI, MangoTV, Tencent Video, VikiRakuten, YOUKU), but weirdly a lot of the VERTICAL dramas I'm trying to find aren't even on there! Of course, I still find most of the regular horizontal dramas that I want. YOUKU's search function sucks! It comes up blank with that pink balloon / air, even when the drama DOES exist on their site.
