I felt like this FL and Lee Yeon were sometimes friends, sometimes frenemies :)

Since this is the past, Lee Yeon spends a lot of this drama in unrequited love, feeling sad he still hasn't found his reincarnated girl, yet. His brother gets to be the main one in love in this one. Also, this focuses on their brotherly relationship, so the bromance aspect is fun, and gives their backstory. :)

I actually lol'd 😄 when you wrote, "another Huang Bo scumbag role", because its SO true. Same with Ma Xiaoyu. I'm in love with that guy, and just hate it that he's a total jerk in 70% of his dramas. But, when they play kind, loverboy type rolls, there's so many 🦋 butterflies 😍. Well, I guess, that's the case for all the vertical actors we love so much. ;)

Yes, I agree about the little girl. I loved that aspect here, how she was so mature, attempting to bring her parents together. She's an amazing actress already. It blows my mind.

Good review. :)🩷. This was my first Huang Bo drama also, and it made me like him a lot. I watched the short version first (last month right after watching Ma Xiaoyu's version, which I did like better). Last night though, because of yours and JWells conversation and your review here, I watched the long version.

I agree about the sex scene. In both the short and long versions, I was fully uncomfortable with the r*ping, especially in the short version due to her fear and the glass injury. Even in the long-version though, with the ML drugging the FL into docility, it was unnecessary for the script to go that direction. :(

Also, yes, the little daughter being a genius hacker was obnoxious for a 5 year-old, EVEN if she WERE a prodigy.

Last month, I watched both shorter versions, the newer 2024 Huang Bo's, "Difficult to Touch" (1:43:43), and Ma Xiaoyu's newest 2025, "Promise You Joy and a Sorrow", but... because of your conversation last night and JWells link, I watched Huang Bo's LONGER 2023 version (2:23:30, called, "You Are My Antidote" on YouTube). Just something I observed... so I want to add my two cents. Let me know what you guys think, AND if I have this correct (not a review):

The 2023 original, longer version (2:23:30) of this drama with Huang Bo is the birth of 2 separarate adaptation TYPES. The first 1/3rd and last 1/3rd of the drama are almost the same as Huang Bo's 2024 newer adaptation, "Difficult to Touch" and Ma Xiayou's newer 2025, "Promise You Joy and a Sorrow".

...BUT ...the MIDDLE 1/3rd is the original storyline that prompted the 2025 separate drama adaptation, "The Heart is in Care and the Time is Worth It" (Li Zijie / Jia Yixuan, MDL: https://kisskh.at/786066-the-heart-is-in-care-and-the-time-is-worth-it , aka: "Forged Vows: True Love Found!"). Similarities: 1) ML's grandpa forged marriage certificates & supports FL throughout, 2) creative-design plagiarism slander of FL 3) FL has temporary amnesia.

So, to summarize, its like Huang Bo's original 2023 longer drama is a mix (and beginning) of 2 drama stories. :)

Yeah, its nuts. I don't even know why I get tied up on these rabbit trails, anyway... I have an addiction to details, even when dramas are completely mediocre. And THIS drama was definitely not GREAT. Haha.

You know what's CRAZY?! This drama was filmed with two alternate beginnings. The first 20 minutes is a different script (all same actors and production), but the REST is the exact same. I guess this must be a variation of having an alternate ending. I wish the video producers would have attached it together in ONE video though, like they do with extra bonus episodes, because it was really confusing why that first part didn't match and yet was so similar. I liked the YouTube version / beginning that YOU posted better than the DailyMotion version / beginning that I posted.

This drama seems to have two separate introduction versions, not sure WHY. But, I just wanted to add this cute dialogue from the version that has the bakery scene at the beginning. Its too adorable.

• Little daughter: "You bad guy. You stole my cake AND stole my mommy's first kiss."
• ML (Dad): "You're so grown up. Your mom still has her first kiss?"
• Little daughter: "Humph! What do you know?! My mommy's first kiss is refreshed every night at 12:00 o'clock. You have to pay my mom for spiritual damage."

I can see the similarity. They look like siblings.

For sure! The ML's assistant is so great! And now that you mention it, I haven't noticed much mahjong in vertical dramas either. Actually, the last time I even saw it played was when I rewatched the movie, "Crazy, Rich Asians" on Netflix (which has that phenomenol mahjong scene near the end. Michelle Yeoh is awesome).

This is a wonderful review. The way you described all the aesthetics is perfect. I just loved the whole vibe, too. The colors and outfits really stood out. I usually only like black or dark gray suits, but I loved the ML's dark green velvety suit. I just really wanted to pet it. Haha. My favorite FL outfit was the red/white polkadot blouse with red pencil skirt, but honestly all her outfits were rockin'.

Ahh yes... when ML bonded with his mom-in-law, it was so so sweet... that was also one of my favorite aspects as well. I love that he asked her about her daughter's interests and got her that doll.
