Contrary to how everyone feels, i disliked the pace of this drama. The love portion was such a slow burn and her eagerness and ambition for business was a bit unreal. I noticed that people like this drama for the simple fact it is yang zi as the FL. In the novel, Mu Dan wasnt the concubine and there were no other concubines as well. I feel really let down with the pacing of this drama. This drama was underwhelming and disappointing. The drama shouldn't have a season 2 to conclude. If the pacing wasnt soooooo slow, they could have done it with 40 ep. Please, this is MY opinion. NO HATE. Bc ya'll know some people cant take opinions opposite of their own.

there were no characters from ALP in MM, only the names, not the same characters
I actually agree on the part where a host of the real entity/diety having their own identity/conscience is nullifying the original. If they just absorbed each others mind/experiences/body, that would have been better for me. I look it as gaining something new, experience, love from every life time so that you can be the ultimate YOU.

That snake (Zhen yu) should have been destroyed 60,000 years ago lol 😂🤣
Everyone has their story. He understood repaying a kindness. He helped his lord bc his lord stopped others from bullying him. He had loyal and honor for his lord, which is really weird for the treatment of the disciples he raised for 10 years, unless he just knew theyd have to be sacrificed anyways. Zhen yu treated people so ruthlessly even though he was noble to his lord. The disparity in this action is almost contradictable.

I have read praise for Bai Lu acting, which is well deserved. However i wanted to note the actress that played Fu Ling. In the beginning, i hated her! In the middle, she was bearable, and at the end, my heart sunk when she died. The scene where she is having dinner with bai shou and her father, was happy and painful. The family bond was beautiful. All along, Fu Ling was THIS kind of person. Self sacrificing, kind, and loving.

I was most impressed by Fu Ling and her tormenting journey. Her self hatred after finding out her real identity and the love she had for her sister. For me, her story made me feel the most.

Bai Lu, well you know, shes just too damn good at acting. From her voice trembling, to crying and those subtle face expressions. Im glad shes rejecting idol dramas. She needs to explore more potential!

I don't know what it is, but can they stop casting actresses with such obvious plastic surgery in historical dramas…
Im not sure why youre being hated on for your opinions. You just think the FL has too much plastic surgery for the drama to look aesthetically appropriate.

However in my opinion, i dont agree with you. I dont see a darn thing youre talking about! Lol. I cant relate. I think the FL is very attractive and im not sure why her face wouldnt be appropriate for this drama. What kind of face would you need to be in a period drama? Im curious. I can surmise that pang xiao ran hasnt had any surgeries since she looks the same as she does in her first drama. My qualms with your assessment is that your opinion doesnt make sense to me. My mind is boggled that screen filtering and too "plastic - y" detered you from the show.

But what i have observed is the way the FL walks. Its kinda manly. Is that how the character is supposed to be portrayed?

fuckk the logic.. the first episode was so stupid... FL sexually harassed the ML in public.. but how could FL…
Im sorry you were called stupid for having your own opinions and im sorry you resorted to the same tactics. No one should be name calling. People in general should learn not to get so offended. IMO every drama is far fetched, but its why i watch them. I find them fun and entertaining.

I really love the Emperor, but let's be honest, the Consort Yue would have been a better Emperor than him, if…
I will agree with this. She is one of the characters i appreciate.

about the period this is a fictional setting in some eras the older ones to be exact some women had a lot more…
You are the only other woman other than myself that had great respect and admiration for wu zetian. I tried to dig up everything i can find on her as in the states its very limited. I can only succumb to research that has been done by papers written in school or the underwhelming youtube documentaries. This woman here was the first ever woman emperor. In any nation. I wish i can time travel just to see the "truths". 🤗

Im glad you mentioned wu zeitian. As she is someone i immensely admire. However shes depicted as someone who was so cruel she killed her own child. I dont see it that as her story was almost completely wiped out by the male historians. Theres evidence that during her tenure of rule, the economy flourished. She opened exams to anyone qualified and she also created the "snitch" box, if you will. Im not a historian but i cant find a lot of literature where there are MANY women and wives who fought alongside their men. Even with the vikings there were very few, if not rare. If this was a common way of life, then id most certainly lovebto read about it! I am all for real life women fighting as equals alongside men. And no im not a feminist by any means. I just want to see a story true to its history and at the same time a strong female lead in any situations given to her.

As far as css, i cant articulate myself further to get you to understand my pov. I see her reactions, way of thinking, decisions are unreal. She really never "grows" up until she almost dies of sadness and knows what it feels to be let down and betrayed by love. I feel other things in her life should have already made her coarse and "thick" skinned.

I read that everyone is loving this drama or novel. I just caught up. I decided to wait bc i read the novel and it just requires too much patience. My thoughts differ from everyone about the characters and their development.

I dont like our heroine css. She acts like a child for the good bit, which is fine bc she IS a child with deep abandonment issues, then only to be reunited with her mother who constantly berates her and makes her feel inferior to everyone. Css acts so tough to her mother and Lby but does nothing when the bully princesses pick on her. Css can speak freely and even talk back to someone of higher rank when the empress was being talked down to, but cant even say things that needed to be said to these petty princesses? Instead Lby has to save her pride and dignity every time? They have too many scenes where css is not defending herself. For as long as css has been bullied or had to "rely" on herself im dissapointed at her growth. I think she needs a bit of hurt from real love in order to grow with the one she TRULY loves. Her first relationship was based on someone always good to her. Getting her food, letting her be "free" to think and do what she pleases. Shes basing everything off fantasy. A real relationship has nasty fights, let downs, disappointments, anger, and sadness. If you can justify all these things and still cant be without this person, i think there is the first learning curve. The story emphasizes that shes seeing if his good outweighs the disappointments. Shes even asking advice from her friends and tallying up pro and cons that cancel each other. What about chemistry? I think the love portion should emphasize that love also is a sort of chemistry and bond. You just cant choose who you love. Are there going to be better men? Yes ofc. But what about the unexplainable feeling you get with the "one" Since this drama is at ease in showing that the children can choose to marry anyone they want.

My other issue here, is that the story doesnt seem real for the era. When can the child so freely choose to marry who she wants? I remember, women had almost no rights.
Women were definitely oppressed and servants to the man. Always! It was always the parents choosing no ands ifs or buts. When i watch the story of minglan its so different. From the respect level to how intense and scared everyone is of the emperor. In this drama, everyone speaks when they so desire to. Threatening. Sarcasm, guilting the emperor. In the drama, its like anyone can just say anything in front of the emperor, even displaying discontent to the emperor if they so choose. I cant get over that. You just dont do that.

What i do love about the drama. Lby character. I feel that its real and he makes a noble and trying effort in his own way to assimilate to css. From telling awkward jokes at the family dinner table, to thoroughly expressing who HE is. For me. That is emotional maturity at the age of 21. Maybe its the life exp, rough life, longing for sense of family, but to express that to another human? Thats evolved imo. Most people keep those deep feelings inside. Especially in that era. Ofc his later decisions to botch his marriage with css was ridiculous. Couldnt he have married the girl first then wait a few years to kill the ling people? He even regrets this decision when he thinks about css during his 5 year separation everyday. I feel that the author gave too much suffering to Css and wrote Lby very weirdly with his impulse and decisions. He spent the majority of the time convincing and making css feel secure, loved, protected, and safe, only to flip that all around. If i was css, id be damaged and itll be tough to trust again. I do believe css should go through rough times and disappointments in love, but this is too overboard. The writing is such exaggeration in dramatic fashion. Thats another qualm i have about chinese stories. Its so over the top and unnecessary. When it rains, it pours. Lmao. Cant catch a break!

She is not resentful because in episode 4 she said she is not going to care for the people who do not accept her,…
And all of these things will make her stronger!

I read some comments about how awful css mother is and amongst other comments, how every parent loves their child differently.

I recently got a puppy, so im training it. When it pees or poops innthe house, i give it a smack on the butt when i catch him in the act. When he goes to do his duty outside, i give him treats and lots of love. I reward him when there is a need and i discipline when he also needs it, but my point is, my puppy loves positive reinforcement way more than being spanked or scolded. Naturally he is potty trained bc hed rather be loved than scolded. With this logic, why is CSS mother so harsh and abusive? If you trained a dog with cruelty, he will most likely be an aggressive dog. I am surprised that CSS has not harbored resentment or jealousy for her cousin and hate for her mother.

Defaming and brutally ripping your child apart is terrible and worse in front of others. You lose all your sense of pride and dignity.

I think that CSS mother should be proud and learn to think differently in how she can "protect" her daughter. CSS survived this long bc she is smart, perceptive, aware and has a strong sense of justice. Maybe CSS mother can believe in her daughter just a tad bit. CSS can fend for herself no matter what palace or family she goes into. Others can put you down or even try and kill you, but to have your own mother kill you on the inside? A lot of girls have low self esteem or problems bc the way they are being treated. I remind myself of the drama Minglan with zhao liying. Minglans granny was the best! Taught her, valued her, and shielded her. She believed in minglan. In turn, minglan was a resourceful, intelligent, strong woman. The person she loved most? Perhaps her granny.

A parents love should be undying, unyielding, unwavering, and most of all should be filled with love and kindness.

I was getting real tired of niao niao and that a'yao relationship. She doesnt even know if this is love! Its a good thing in the later episode trailers it reveals they will break up. I just want that general ling to be with shaoshang already!! 🤪 this drama almost feels like a slice of life drama, but not quite. It gives me the minglan feel, but i def like minglan better. While SS is intelligent, she also has this childish immaturity about her.

Idc what anyone says but this mom is awful! I know she loves her daughter but in the name of fairness she overlooks what is justice for her daughter and constantly treating yang yang infinitely better. Doesnt this mom think her actions will have an adverse effect, in turn, turning the cousins against each other? Or worse, causing SS to harbor more resentment and to never feel a mothers love. This mom character arc doesnt make sense to me due to the extremity of her actions and way of discipline. On the other hand the dad and brothers are great!

Drama has been great so for, but getting tired of the mother daughter relationship being toxic for too long. They need to hurry up and just show their love for each other.

This drama is fantastic. I love when the ML stares so deeply at the FL. Their chemistry is brilliant! And my oh my, chen xiao is just smoking hot with those piercing eyes. I cant believe how incredible the pair can act! The story is mesmorizing to me! I love the female comraderie and the strengths of all three women. I loved the ML willingness and love for the FL. He'd marry her without thinking about status. I see more and more how corrupt government can be and how wealth and status can change you. The drama just feels so real. I also enjoy how beautiful the music has been! I loved FL dancing so elegantly! I hope this drama stays beautiful as ive only seen 18 episodes! 🤞
