Wow. Just wow. The pacing, the acting, the freaking CINEMATOGRAPHY out of this world. I felt as if I was watching…
It is unreal how good this drama is and Jackson Yi is amazing in this as are all the actors. This may give my NIF (the best drama of all time from a 7 time viewer) a run for its money. I am blown away!
This drama is stunningly gorgeous! I am mesmerized by the beauty of the cinematography - breath-taking visuals with magnificent and I do mean magnificent use of lighting. Words cannot express how truly beautiful this is to watch. Now to the story - very intriguing and fill of twists and turns. Acting is off the chart fabulous. Right up there with the best drama of all time- NIF! I cannot get enough of this drama! Watching episodes over and over just to see the visuals.
Ok, with just eight more episodes to go, I'm torn between being both, satisfied and disappointed with this first…
@Lilly1008 - very thoughtful and well written post! I agree with all of your positives.
As for the not-so-positive: I have personally overlooked the acting of Arthur Chen - is he the best - maybe not, but I feel he carries the darkness of NQ enough to satisfy me. Also, I think the screenwriter/s may be having trouble dealing with the massive amount of characters in the novel. I started reading the novel as I was getting a little confused. Reading it helped me understand so I can see why viewers would be lost at times. One example - the conversations between Fu Zi and Eldest brother have a much deeper meaning. This may seem small but I understood what they were really saying between the lines because I was reading the novel. Your "Fu Zi and food" bullet point made me laugh out loud as yes, he does love to eat.
I hope you continue to watch the next season and looking forward to you doing another great review! Hoping the screenwriter/s can do the story justice moving forward. It is a daunting task for sure!
Well stated! I reached chapter 750 in the novel and I’m very glad I read it! The novel is obviously more in…
@SUNNY - did you see anything wrong with episode 53 when NQ is in the array room? I totally agree with your post and I also love the cast - glad to hear I am not the only person reading this drama and waiting for new episodes every day. I cannot wait to get to chapter 750.
Reading the novel and I am up to chapter 668 and Viki has subbed up to episode 52.
A few thoughts: * Viewers are upset over episode 47 and while the verbiage is almost exact, please know that he never touches her in the novel. This episode represents a huge turning point in their relationship and his personal growth. Prior to this, NQ was horribly selfish. * NQ is a killing machine to protect Sang Sang - 'nuff said. They can never be parted as one will die without the other. Their childhood was worse than what is being shown in the drama and tremendously sad. * There is a an major underlying theme in the novel that is having a hard time being expressed in the drama. On this point - any other novel readers see episode 53 where there is a wtf in the array room? * There is a lot, and I do mean a lot more to come. Like epic, earth shaking twists, turns, revelations and battles on a huge scale. I am really looking forward to the next 400+ chapters. The real evil emerges. * Chen Pipi is a cheeky, adorable puppy and I love him! * Hoping and praying that the drama writer can translate this as we move forward. If you really like this drama read the novel if you can find the time as it is worth it. * Happy with the casting in Season1 - Arthur Chen and Ireine Song are exactly as I picture NQ and Sang Sang. I will watch even with the cast change.
Ah - looks like a post-battle drag. If so I may do the same as you and sit it out until new dramas come out.
