Pretty sure it's another actress with the same name, as I didn't see her in the drama, and the Baidu entry for this drama does not link the actress "Zhao Wei" to Baidu's profile for Vicki. I've submitted an edit to MDL to remove her name from this cast list.
Anyone knows if Dylan Wang was dubbed in this drama?
No, it's his voice. This drama is not dubbed. There may be some scenes with some dubbing, but those would be dubbed by the actors themselves. My understanding is that Dylan's accent has also soften over time. (Baidu will usually list the name of the voice actor alongside the cast names, for dramas that are dubbed by someone else.)
This summed up my feelings exactly! This drama was so ridiculous, filled with dog's blood clichés, some corny dialogue -- and how in the world am I supposed to look past all those really terrible consent issues??!! AND YET.
This was the most ridiculous over-the-top thing ever from start to finish! (They could do a drinking game with the number of times someone threaten to kill someone, lol.) And YET. The OTP had pretty serious chemistry and I could not stop watching. 🫣 It's a really easy binge.
At the same time, there were soooo many consent issues, so I think those tags need to be upvoted so potential viewers are aware. This is also the first C-drama I can think of where they went that far with the main FL in ep. 25/26, which seemed very unnecessary. It feels too serious of an issue to be handled like another plot "device" just to make the storytelling melodramatic...
Either 1/ the "other" (glasses) one was the surviving personality and he was faking it, only pretending to be the serious one in order to be with the FL, and those were his real memories flashing as the serious one tried to break out, or 2/ the reverse was happening, where the glasses personality was trying to break through. Definitely one of the better modern short dramas I've seen, despite the ambiguous ending.
It needed to be *at least* 5 minutes longer! 😭Xianxias and their abrupt endings! Also, if I hadn't seen the love of my immortal life for 500 years, I'd probably want to hug them to death first before kissing, or is it just me, lol? I get it, they haven't seen each other in a while, so a hug-kiss would probably be "too much" ... but still, I just wanted...more. The 10-12 episodes leading up to that final minute was almost perfection though!
OMG, 31/32 were beautiful and the best episodes yet. I honestly was just okay with this drama at first and kept watching since it was entertaining enough to keep going, and my friends were all watching it. But I really did not find it especially emotionally engaging, The FL casting really did not work for me, I didn't like this particular style of whiny-cutesiness, the voice dubbing didn't help, I found the dialogue -- in particular the mix of formal/old style language and modern expressions distracting, and it didn't feel as epic and sweeping as other Xianxias like Ancient Love Poetry, etc. So for me to do a total 180 ...! The last 8 episodes have been just ridiculously good, so emotionally engaging and so heartfelt, with each episode better than the last. When does that ever happen in a C-drama?! It's not often that the pacing and storytelling don't start stumbling half way through (at best), or completely fall apart (at worse). But it's been the opposite here. Can't wait to see how the final four episodes unfold.
I don't understand the low score. Granted it's only a handful of ratings, and not enough to really carry much weight, but still. Its score on Douban is pretty high. This is a really solid drama so far (I am half way at ep 10). Intricate, grounded, and tightly constructed, with so many interesting and nuanced characters. This is not a drama I can multi-task while watching. Luo Jin is superb and he is supported by a strong cast. Hopefully more people will check it out.
Really enjoying this drama (on ep 14), but they could've cut down on the flashbacks while doing a better job with some of the editing, especially in the earlier episodes. Was it just me was some of it choppy? There were a few spots that needed better FX or segue to show that a bit of time has passed. (The one that sticks out the most was when the mom reunited with her daughter and then a few minutes later was on her death bed. Or when the bodyguard was severely injured one moment and then fully recovered by the next scene.) I also feel like I am suddenly experiencing face blindness watching this, because I really have difficulty telling apart the two main guards on both "sides", the FL's grandfather and her half-brother's grandfather apart, and the evil uncle and nephew.
I enjoyed this one and thinks it deserves much higher than a 7.8, despite some flaws. I do have a question about…
The prologue seems to take place about decade after the events in the drama. Are we to assume that's Wen Rou in the box, despite the happy ending of the drama? (At one point in the series, Wang Xiaoshi specifically says she is the most important person in his life, which is what he says in the prologue.) I have mixed feelings about this small detail...I guess it captures some of the essence of Jianghu life and Wuxia storytelling, but it really creates a sense of bittersweetness to the ending that I don't know if I wanted as a viewer...

I struggle with how to rate this one...
