I'm defending no one lol 'cause I feel that both of them are at faults here. First, they keep lying to each other and now the FL takes advantage of the current situation to ruin ML's career. Just like she said, part of her wants to see him succeed but the other part of her wants to secure the project which can jeopardize ML' career. So, which side are you now, girl? On the other hand, you can't keep using Feng Sheng as your shield too. One day, the ML will find out what have happened over the past few years and... (you'll know what's going to happen)
Same goes for ML too. I can't justify his past actions for hurting the FL by pretending to cheat with Xu Chenxi when you're actually not. Everything is a silly misunderstanding which can be resolved if the two of you have a heart-to-heart talk. Now that you two meet again, you want to rekindle your love while FL has built a fortress around her heart so that nobody can break her heart anymore. The fact that both leads have high ego just irks me so much. Be more sensible, can't you?
Watching this makes me coming back to 'Go Back Lover' era where my blood boiled hard over the quacky plot and the characters' hypocrisy. I'm a bit of regretful right now. But, there's no stopping anymore. Please help me endure 8 more episodes 😭😭 I'll surely rant at my review next time.
In my opinion, I feel that both of the leads are flawed characters. Technically, I don't have problems with flawed characters, but the way they are written just irks me. Whoever writes the script, she just makes the story messier by dumping more and more misunderstanding that isn't necessarily needed.
For FL, being money-minded is okay, that happens in majority of people (I'm money-minded too). But, please don't have a-too-crooked nature and refuse ML's help. Had I been you, I would've accepted everything gratefully. It's rare to see someone does something wholeheartedly for the sake of love, so please cherish this moment as good as possible because chances won't come twice.
As for ML, I know what he does is for FL's greater good and the choice he takes is a double-edged sword - jeopardize your relationship or let her suffer together with you. And he chooses the former. However, in a relationship, you need to be honest to your lover too, instead of keeping her in the dark. At least, tell her some rough description and let her consider everything, perhaps she can share her POV and support you mentally by giving encouraging words.
