You will not. There is flashback to keep you understand the plot. So the series can be watch stand alone. But watching Love in Pavilion ( FSMM2 - WQ Fugui parent's story) will make you feel more.

It was explain in Love in Pavilion. HY has to marry HZ as concubine because he need to take her away asap from evil senior. Without the marriage contract and proper arrangement between two families, he couldn’t marry her as a main wife. And all HZ family was killed and kidnapped, left only the betrayer. HY was using WQ fam pressure to take her away.

i think he looks the best in plain white and gray color! i love them the most. tho i like all of them. CY is always pretty.. in mlc they said his costume was too simple, now another complaint..
