I agree with you on this. In RJL's case, there are certain projects that is worth breaking the barrier. He does do kiss scenes from his earlier stage in his career (that drama opened up many doors for him) and certainly for this drama too. There's image of these 2 leads kissing probably to silence those many rumors circulating on weibo. IQiyi already is promoting this drama as it has consistently been on the top of the list to watch this summer. The expectation are pretty high for this drama.

In the novel, he also asked her why she loved him. She only replied "love at first sight." However, as a reader, we know better.

Essentially, both parts are of it's own timeline. Hence, you don't need to watch one or the other to understand the storyline. However, you might question yourself why the leading lady loved and is so devoted to the Male lead despite their short encounter.

LOL, does that count as separation? In General and I, the 2 lead got separated for almost 20+ eps.

In Rebel Princess, the princess fell in love too fast and I was quite surprise. But the leading man was so smooth. He took her hand and kiss her without hesitation and she easily gave in.

Don't be ignorant. No Marquis/general in real life is your idol age actor. It takes time to get to that position especially when he (Xu Ling Yi) had no backing. The producer specifically ask for Wallace for this role.

In the Leading man's defense, he did attempt to try to get along with them. For instance, when he went around and tries to have dinner with them. The ladies behavioral just don't align with him. Once he is there, we notice that he is so uncomfortable and needs to get away. We can't really fault him. At this point , he is not comfortable with Shiyi either.

On the other side, he makes the relation so clear to his concubines .. almost telling them to "don't expect any affection from me, I would only give you a home security."

Exactly, coming from an Asian ethnicity, my dad's generation still has more than 1 wife.

I didn't take her promise too serious because when she got married she said as soon as she finds out who killed her mother, she is leaving. That explain a lot about her careless behavior whenever something happen against her favor as the status of the legal wife.

Very good point that he doesn't want to add additional suffering to her until he felt she is stable mentally as well. Honesty, how can anybody be mad at him though. When he heard the news, even he was clutching onto his heart... it pains him so much too ...so how could he give her that news at the present moment.

Now with modern technology we can scold how life was like back then. Is there contraception for men back in the days? Basically they still want kids in the future & he just wants her to heal internally before getting pregnant again. He should of honesty just told her the situation.

What a big contrast ZYW is from the characters he play to the person he is in real life!? The way he shift his focus was very spot on and then he becomes this goofball with the silly story line.

NO, he is a pretty good looking man!! It's just that his projects don't appeal to the younger crowd who are often the more active online.

Yea, where as Zhou Yi Wei been all my drama watching live? This role was made for him!!! We need more of him!! It's too bad they did not take advantage of him.
