Boooooy, that was bad... the worst ending this year, surpassing 2gether's
... so what were you expecting for an ending? :D because tbh I find the ending strong especially that it was setting up the viewers for another season...
It shows everyone and the ending is also very logical?
Huhu please understand that the Philippines is in a CRISIS :
I mean DYING, they are not counted as casualties as they are not dead, but given their situation, hundreds of people are nearing their deaths given that a lot of people aren't getting reached for rescue (especially last night). Luckily more and more people are getting saved though.
What I stated isn't an exact statistic of casualties, just an approximation given that hundreds of people are affected and are at the brink of death due to the high flooding that is happening in Cagayan and Isabela.
NOOOOOOO !!!!! I waited all week for this moment TT-TT .... Aren't they pre-produced drama? Why are we have to…
Huhu please understand that the Philippines is in a CRISIS :<.
We really are in a tight situation right now. The Capital was just hit by a strong typhoon. Now, provinces Cagayan and Isabela are facing floods and people are waiting to be saved. HUNDREDS ARE ALSO DYING T_T as of the moment T_T.
GSP not showing this week's episode is in solidarity with the people who are affected by the calamities that we are facing. In that accord, I hope you understand. Yes this is a pre-recorded drama, but the team can't celebrate the end with the fact that our fellowmen ARE LITERALLY DYING :(.
But isn't this the point of the series? To portray characters close to reality? Everyone in this series is flawed…
^^^^^!!!!! That's true Mx. Pldts.
Well people may like or dislike characters but the way these characters are written are very much aligned to the reality that we live in.
Every character is flawed because it's what it is, everyone is flawed in reality. For their advocacy to make sense, they have these characters to present you the beauty of allyship and queerness, and at the same time, let you face about your possible internalized homophobia, misconception of allyship, etc.
It doesn't shy away from showing the flaws because that's the only way for the show to properly exude the message that they want to share.
I'm still sad that a lot of people are plain angry at Judit. While I do see that it's valid especially once you start applying theory in discussing her character, she's human, and a lot of people are probably like her in reality. I think it also creates this question, "what would you do in real life if you meet a Judit?" Will you be angry? Or will you also have a place in your heart to understand her motivations? How will you teach the ways to her especially that she's an ally that's just starting to navigate the waters?
Btw, people might have missed these, but yes. Judit felt that pang of guilt in her when she realized that she went beyond the boundary and made Karl scared of everything.
I changed my mind on my previous thoughts about this episode. I'm a Karl stan through and through.I said, previously,…
The thread is so informative but at some point it made me realize why I sometimes hate research HAHAHA (it's too technical and sometimes unnecessarily deep that it's really hard to digest at times).
But anyways, the way it pointed out the problem with Vlad is on point!!! If you've watched Dark Blue Kiss, PeteKao and KarlVlad's situation is pretty much the same (re: coming out and intersectionality of queerness to social stratification)
It's also evident that Judit, while seeing signs of being apologetic, really has a long way to go with her allyship. With Vlad, his emotions overshadowed his rationality, and it sucks because if you think about it, he should know about Karl's struggles in life. He should know that he isn't privileged like him, that coming out isn't something that he can easily do given his standing in society.
While yes, everyone is coming from a certain point of view, we must call out certain behaviors that needs calling especially that part of taking back the narrative is also revealing the unpleasant factors such as this.
I love how the show and the viewers are able to do these and that we still find the humanity that there is to the characters.
I see a lot of people hating Judit, but mahn she was really coming from a place of care, albeit rash and forceful. I hope you guys also saw that she does regret what she did. Her actions did show the conflict that there is in being an ally to Karl while asserting her love and care for her brother. She really gave this "UGH THIS SITUATION SUCKS BADLY :<".
Again, she is an ally that's still navigating through things. While we shouldn't excuse her for her rashness, let's give space to understand her motivations, especially that she probably reflects a lot of people in society that are also lost in such a situation.
Also, did you guys notice the intensified accent that she has? She really is manifesting her defense mechanisms during those scenes.
Ugh this show is so multi-layered I can't even hate any character that is in here.
EDIT: Nevertheless, there are some characteristics of characters that need to be pointed out. For example, Vlad unconsciously outing Karl in the closet by admitting to Tito Santi that he and Karl have a thing. Karl's denying Vlad when he is aware of Vlad's scars Judit's notion of allyship and possible abuse of privilege.
Here's something that I just unraveled as I was thinking: Vlad and Judit never looked beyond themselves. They forgot the fact that Karl isn't like them. He isn't privileged in life, thus talks about his sexuality should be taken gradually. He cannot simply celebrate his truths when he's someone from the lower class.
Phew just some thoughts, but hey! You can like flawed characters yet call them out on their shortcomings ahie.
For me, while I still sympathize with Judit, her character needs to be called out for the mistakes committed. right? Right.
This episode though is a statement of how great the writing is, especially now that as viewers, you can't really pick a side because Vlad, Karl, Judit, and Tito Santi were all coming from a place that is very much valid. Because the writing has been stellar especially with the character development area, we as viewers are also understanding where the characters are coming from.
Can I say? EVERYONE IN THIS EPISODE IS SO GOOD.
Ian's acting is remarkable!! I can literally feel the pain in his eyes, his motions, his delivery of dialogues. Paolo's acting GOT ME FLOORED. I felt the looming anxiety, the pain, the unwanted disdain for everything. You can feel the love yet you can feel the pain in his voice and eyes. Well, Miss Adrienne is such a gem of an actress. Her performance in this episode is also good!!!
Miss Yesh is great as well! The way she held Karl's hand during that scene with Judit? UGH also what a great ally that she is!!
Over-all, I hate this episode for the pain it has caused me. But for what it's worth, it definitely is a well-written episode.
P.S. I REALLY LOVE THE INTERTEXTUALITY IN THIS EPISODE :((. The first series of scenes were such a treat for a Polca like meeee :<<
The only bad thing about this series is the color grading, some scenes are dark or grey AF. If the director corrected…
Noticed it too, but it seems like the problem is with Youtube since the team released some clips in twt where the scenes in ep5 that are dark in youtube were actually properly colored.
The are "lesbian relationship" and "lesbian character" tags! Wonder what it means. Are we gonna get a lesbian…
Hallo! I actually read the wattpad scripts! For this prequel, I don't think that the lesbian relationship would exist now. HOWEVER, it would be in Season 2 as that season would be based on the unpublished script in wattpad. In wattpad, it's revealed that Vlad's bestfriend, Sue, is a Sapphic.
For Anna's existence in season 2, we aren't really sure. But there's a character named, Joan, Karl's bestfriend, who is also a Sapphic.
I really don't like the show, and the script, but I do like Ian and his sister, the only thing that is good, the…
gHORL did you really say that the comments came from the production team? HAHAHHAA OH MY GOD JUST ACCEPT THAT YOUR CRITICISM IS VERY MUCH FLAWED AS IT HAS MANY LOOPHOLES.
Seriously, at this point in the series, you think that Karl is "homophobic" LIKE??? ALSO IN WHAT CRITERIA DO YOU EVEN GAUGE GENDER AND SEXUALITY??!!!
When that song Home played at that pivotal moment/scene. YES Karl, I felt that. MY HEART!!!! This episode was…
The OST IS SUCH A GOD-TIER SONG OMG. Btw, it's called "Ride Home" from Ben&Ben! Hoping that you could check their other songs <3. Btw, the music scorer for this is the keyboardist of the band!
Man y'all this episode 6. MAN MAN MAN MAN SHUTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD HUHUHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUu.
Okay I'm literally illiterate this night I have so much feelings.
Last an.
Can I just say, SHUTA KA JUAN MIGUEL SEVEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ANG GALING MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
(oh people might think that the dance part was cringy but if I'm gonna be honest, I loved it that I was crying. It's in the celebration of freedom and liberation from the shackles that bounded us so deep in the ground for me.
ANYWAYS, WE GOT TWO WEEKS LEFT AND I AM NOT FUCKING READY.
It shows everyone and the ending is also very logical?
Can't wait to hear this at its full glory especially with Ian's voice. I really like the lyrics of the song it's so well-written :<.
Probably this means that, "With our weary hearts magnetized, we will find our way back to love"
