I'm on ep 3 now and I have mixed feelings. If Tang Qi sees beauty beyond appearance, he must have severely misunderstood…
I used to be under the same impression, but, fortunately, further plot shows that TQ is not exactly that kind of a guy. He fell in love with SM not because of her looks, but because he was impressed by her heroically saving the kid on the road. Then, it's later made obvious that he disliked SCC also NOT because of her looks, but because he mistakenly considered her a school bully who used her strength to intimidate other children, himself included. Just keep watching. The drama keeps getting better with each episode, and the main leads unfold psychologically, so everything becomes clear. For me it's a comfort drama, for sure.
Wow, it's just after 6 am where I live and I have just finished 'Filter.' I haven't binge-watched anything so intensely in a while. Actually, I am not sure I have ever binge-watched anything like this, especially given this is not exactly my genre. It is just PERFECT. I always find flaws in everything: even the titles I enjoyed very much always have at least a tiny disappointment for me - an illogical turn of plot, a weird scene, a moment of unnatural acting, an expression, and of course filler scenes (or sometimes even filler episodes). But here literally everything is perfect, soooo enjoyable. This is definitely my first ever comfort drama, which I am going to rewatch whenever I need to cheer myself up. 非常感谢 to everyone involved in the making of this beautiful title and a big thank you to all the commenters - sharing emotions, discussing opinions, trying to predict the plot together has made this journey even more special ❤️
WILL YOU BELIEVE ME IF I TELL YOU THAT I JUST BINGE WATCHED 25 EP IN 1.5 DAYS?? NOW I AM SUPPOSED TO WAIT???
Totally feel you! I daily congratulate myself that I joined in pretty early and had to binge watch only 6 or 7 eps. And, btw, I hardly ever do this (I think there was only one prior case in my drama-watching career). Normally, I watch an episode or two a day, because I tend to get tired of narratives too fast, but with this show I literally can't stop.
Uhm, yes, but there is still one unresolved situation that they never commented on in the last episodes. And it…
Thank you so much for expressing this so accurately! Totally agreed 🤝 Indeed, at first TQ was immature: he wanted perfection - a beautiful soul behind a beautiful face, - so talked himself into believing SM was exactly such an impeccable person. Falling later for FJ in a way shows he was becoming a more mature person: he apparently began to realize that the character was more important to him than conventional beauty.
Yet, I kind of see why FL is being criticized here. She is a very sweet person and initially none of it was her fault. But at some point she did get a bit carried away with all the 'let's-fool-TQ-so-he-never-finds-out'-stuff. It became really obvious in the scene where she and LY kind of celebrated having killed QST off, not thinking for a moment that TQ would feel the unbearable guilt of having troubled the boy with his suspicions which ultimately led to the tragedy (to say nothing of how weird the said death was -- enough to traumatize anyone!). SCC was very casual about playing with another person's deep emotions, health and sanity. I think LL is doing an incredible job showing these inner fluctuations in her character: when she gets all lighthearted and easygoing about the bracelet and the consequences of (ab)using it, and later when she all of sudden realizes how grave this whole thing is. So it's SCC's story of development, too, and I'm sure it's not over yet. We still have enough episodes for drama to play out.
Their confession moments are so sweet. Just perfect! Ik, nothing gonna make up for facts, she misjudged him on…
Uhm, yes, but there is still one unresolved situation that they never commented on in the last episodes. And it kind of bothers me, although I guess I will now be severely criticized for my opinion 😅 Remember ep. 3, when SCC came to the company for the job interview organized for her by her elder sister, but was accidentally mistaken for the mysterious beauty TQ saw before, proposed as an ambassador for their new product and made everyone look for? TQ looking at SCC in a state of shock, saying to a colleague 'It's not her!' and then, further worsening the situation, he said something like: 'Do you really think I would have proposed HER as a model?!' I don't remember the exact wording, but for me that scene was more hurtful that the scene with beer and makeup... Even his colleagues looked at him with disapproval. The reason for TQ's words in the beer-and-makeup scene was somehow clear from the beginning: it was obvious he was referring to the poor quality of SCC's makeup products, he just failed to convey his meaning, and the insecure girl thought he was talking of her appearance in general and mocking her. That was indeed an 误会, a misunderstanding. But in the office he was really, really rude. I mean, yes, we all understand that you are feeling disappointed, that the girl you had hoped to see didn't come, and the girl you had hoped to never see again came in her stead, but, man, you really do not have to be so harsh in your expressions. Saying it was a mistake (and saying 'Sorry' to SCC) would have been perfectly enough.
This drama is really good, but if I read this comment section, I wouldn't start watching it... Su Chengcheng is…
Same here! I really like SCC. Yes, she has made several major mistakes so far (some of them were not even her fault), but even that doesn't change the fact that she is a kind, sincere, caring person who just often gets into problematic situations. I'm sure she will find a way to make everything right. And I really enjoy LLD's acting, she has nailed this role ❤️
It’s surprising how you acknowledge Tang Qi as a realistic character but still criticize him for behaving like…
I couldn't agree more. Tan Jianci's acting skills are indeed incredible, he literally puts you into this fictional realm and it becomes your reality. And the characters that he portrays -- they all become real living people, virtues, flaws, and all.
