I don't think they think of her as "not their real daughter" anymore ... the pain of loss of their birth daughter has been assuaged by her presence, and in some ways I think they treasure her even more - because she's a precious gift from the cosmos.

I'm really loving this slow buildup ... it really lets us see their characters develop and grow together.
This episode lets us begin to understand how Lanxiang is going to make a place for herself in the ML's heart ... it's definitely not just going to be looks and lust for them.

This was also my conclusion... that irony ... every step she takes to make her exit from Lin Jia possible is actually going to increase her value to the ML ...

I was thinking about Til the End of the Moon. That needed 47 episodes.

I surely hope everything doesn't go back to that draggy 50 episode habit. All that does is encourage producers to stick in needless second and third CP plots that add nothing to the drama. Almost every modern drama I've seen could be 24 to 30 episodes long without problems. A lot of the mystery suspense ones don't even need 20. Even many of the historical dramas could indeed tell their stories in 40 episodes. So I hope the length matches the story, not the other way around.

It's the FL's story ... IMO it makes sense for her to get more screen time... keeping him off screen in this part of the drama also allows for his character to build up some mystique, so that when he DOES come onscreen the impact is greater.

Nobody in this cast looks like they're in their teens or early twenties.
I'm not concerned about the "look" as much as I am about the storytelling.

Heartily agree. I think they actually made the synopsis seem like it was going to be like this because at least some people would be drawn into the drama for that overdone plot ...
