Gosh I did not expect that! I thought this would be a drama of brotherhood in journey with ZSX is paired with YCY. Turned out there is a tragic love triangle between the second leads 😭 I like multiple couples, but not like this. Now I'm expecting either one of the second leads to die, especially MZY. Damn I was excited to watch this for MZY thinking she will have happy ending since her first drama I watched had bad ending.

Seeing the trailer there's love triangle between Liu Yuning x Meng Ziyi x Baron Chen. And it seems it will change their brotherhood and Liu Yuning's character 😭

Hi. Just want to say this. Do not compare chinese, korean or other Asian drama with US tv series. It's called "drama" bcs it dramatizes things such as situations, romance, reactions with cheesy slow motion. While in the US it is called "TV series" bcs it's serial TV, which air in several seasons. US TV series are packed, to the point, but clearly glorify the power of US technology, knowledge, efficiency and their open mindset. If the US use the same methods in chinese/korean drama to their TV series it will make the audience cringe, and vice versa. It's not fair to compare Blue Flame Assault with Chicago Fire. You should compare this with The Flaming Heart or other firefighting c-drama. Compare the original Macgyver with the remake, or adaptation like Hana Yori Dango with Boys Over Flowers. I hope they will follow the manga, especially the ending. The manga is so intense! I don't know how many card missions will be included in the drama. I wish to see Jack of Heart mission, and a new crucial character, Heiya Akane.

Niragi didn't die in season 1. He got burned but still alive so as Agni. Agni isn't a villain, so he will be a hero in season 2 (the fight is so cool!!!). Niragi is a grey character, but he will cooperate with the leads for team mission.

Glad we have the same thoughts! I don't mind love triangle as long as it's not bitchy, makes me want to kill the third wheel myself. MATOTC and another Chen Yuqi's drama, Memory of Encaustic Tiles have a very supportive love triangle. SML never sabotage the couple nor the FL playing both men. This doesn't make us want the SML to get the FL, but rather makes us focus on their characters and support their friendship instead of cursing to the screen 😅

I don't read the novel, but I watched the donghua and the drama scriptwriter really changed every character except Bai Ying 😱 for example: cold and ruthless Su Mo, powerful Zhen Lan, reasonable Na Sheng, gentle and polite Yan Xi. The directing, script and editing destroyed the highly anticipated drama 🤦‍♀️ but I still like this drama bcs of the non toxic main couple and no annoying love rival 👍🏻 the relationship by the three leads is very healthy.

Well I try to be objective to the characters unless he/she is a total jerk. In the donghua/novel Na Sheng isn't like this though. But some viewers love this kind of character in the drama so we got drama Na Sheng 🙄 I wrote this on my comment down below, basically the more you sacrifice the more you won't get a happy end. Na Sheng doesn't sacrifice anything so of course she got the happiest ending. At least the drama has better ending than the novel though...

It's not that Na Sheng is rude to Su Mo, they just don't match. Su Mo is cold and has been treating her coldly since the start. He saved her multiple times, but doesn't mean he wanted to do it. He had to bcs Bai Ying asked him (the first time at the snow mountain was as a repay for the fortune telling). Su Mo doesn't care about anyone except the merfolk and Bai Ying. Na Sheng doesn't hate Su Mo nor being rude to him. She doesn't have filter in her words so she sounds rude (except to Bai Ying). Just like Su Mo, she only cares about Yan Xi and thinks of others as nuisances. Also since she's closer to Zhen Lan, it's obvious she supports him more than Su Mo.

I can't believe the actor I saw many years ago also act in this drama! This man has too many names I don't even know which one is the real one. I thought of giving this a try for Chen Xiaoyun, now with this babe (although only a supporting role) I feel more excited 🤭

Additional:
Some jealous cnetz hate Hai Lanzhu. They think Lan'er only adds more romance and isn't needed for the story. I disagree. First, Lan'er represents a strong modern woman who has clear vision and dreams. She fights for what she believes in, and thirsty for knowledge. Second, she's ready to stand in battlefield with the man she loves and gives him support. Third, she helps Yicheng everytime he is in trouble. Fourth, Yicheng usually looks tough, mischievous, mighty and temperamental. But Yicheng shows his fragile sides in front of her. His weakness, fear, tears. Fifth, Lan'er acts as big sister to the three kids. If only those jealous people see Lan'er beyond the romance, they'll see how important she is as a character.

If you ask:
1. Is there any bromance? Nope. I wrote in my review, the six leads: Yicheng, Lan'er, Fu Gui, Yao Lai, Liu Yiming and Huang Kewu have family like friendship. Yicheng and Weili are bff, but not the bromance kind of one.

2. Is there any love triangle? Actually no. Xiao Ru loves Yicheng, but she knew she doesn't have a chance. After Yicheng rejected her, she doesn't appear much in the drama. Prince Long Qin proposed Lan'er and his subjects tried to make it true. That doesn't mean he loves her, more like a tradition since they are royal blood.

3. Is there any second couple? There is, but they don't appear much, only in the beginning and a few times later. They disappear in later half. You will hate this couple for many reasons.

4. Who is the second female lead? This one is hard to answer since the other 2 girls don't appear much. They basically disappeared after their job is done. So you will focus on the six leads instead.

5. Is it happy end? If you're curious, you can watch the last ep, but you will lose all the fun. This drama is worth to watch.

When I saw the filming ceremony pictures, I wasn't convinced with the pairing. But when I watched until ep 4, turns out they match so well. Understanding their characters make the couple so delightful to watch. Their chemistry is undeniable. This is the first time I ship Yuqi with her male co-star to the point I want them to date 😂

Xu Yicheng is the leader of White Clan of the Five Meridians and a famous antique expert acknowledged by people. He studies archaeology. He's smart, loyal to his friends, but reckless and hot headed. He loves antiques and engineering. He truly values Chinese national treasures and extremely upset when the Japanese try to steal them. He's not your type of hero. He can't handle pain, he even screamed over a small cut on his finger, or over a snake 😂 he doesn't know martial arts so he can't defend himself. His father's death has something to do with Purple Clan, the people from old dynasty. He fell in love with Lan'er after she did CPR to him. This clumsy love beginner was nervous at first, but after they starts dating, he is protective to her and can't win against her. He insists Xiao Ru is his sister, and keeps denying she loves him. Yicheng planned to study in Harvard, USA, but changed it to UK to be with Lan'er. This is my first Qu Chuxiao drama. His face looks like a mischievous bad boy but he's perfect for this role. And I like his soft husky voice👍🏻

Hai Lanzhu/Lan'er is the last princess of the Qing Dynasty. She admired the princess who gave up her status, married to a British man and left China. Lan'er studies astrophysics in UK. This modern princess is obsessed about alien! She asked Yicheng's professor for a help to find alien before she came to Yicheng. Lan'er is smart, independent, strong willed and realistic. She is forced to marry prince Long Qin, but she embarrassed him in public by declaring she won't marry him. Her relationship with her father crumbled bcs of their clashing opinions. Lan'er is an outsider, but gets involved in this conspiracy bcs she follows Yicheng. She refuses to return to UK and chooses to accompany Yicheng no matter how dangerous it is. She originally planned to stay permanently in UK.

Behind a successful man, there is a dedicated woman. This is our couple. They deeply love each other. They're inseparable although not always together. They have healthy relationship. Both are smart and they share knowledge. Yicheng in antiques, Lan'er in modern knowledge. Bcs both of them are Aries, they have similar characteristics, but different personalities. They also share the same dream and ambitions: to study abroad and see the world. Yicheng is her whole world, the only man she loves and she can depend on. She sacrifices everything for him and stays by his side. She's afraid of is losing him. Yicheng is head over heels for her and will do anything to make her happy. He promised to follow her anywhere she wants after his business is done. Lan'er is the only one who can calm his anger and also the only one who truly understands him. Her words and presence always help him through his darkest times.

As this story happens in 1928, some old folks are still frozen in time. For example the Qing royal troupe, the old dynasty group, even the Five Meridians.

Long Qin is the remaining Qing prince. There's nothing good about him except bringing comedy to the drama. He's a loser, coward, pathetic, brainless. He asked Yicheng's help to protect his good name and his treasures.

Lan'er's father is a delusional man. He refuses to accept that Qing dynasty is over. He forces Lan'er to marry Long Qin bcs he thinks if she marries that loser, she will be the happiest woman. Her dad doesn't care about what happens to the world, doesn't care about her dream nor thoughts. For him, Lan'er is shaming the ancestors for accepting the modern culture, especially bcs she loves Yicheng. He also despises the modern medications. He worships the ancestors and Long Qin so much. Talking to a wall is much better bcs walls have ears and they will absorb our words. Lan'er's father refuses to listen to everything Lan'er says, as if you're talking to a TV.

The old dynasty group consists the people from previous dynasty. Wang Yuheng is a royal blood who has the ability to duplicate treasures. He made them exactly the same and almost impossible to find their flaws. He faked his identity and gathered people who hate the Five Meridians and challenged them on competition about treasures. But Yicheng skillfully shamed them all.

The Five Meridians still holds some traditional rules, but they're not unreasonable like the Qing royal troupe.

Five Meridians were originally Six Meridians. But the Purple Sect which consists the people from the old dynasty betrayed the other five. The previous leader of the old dynasty trapped Yicheng's dad and his friend with Chuan Guoyu jade seal. Mr. Xu confirmed it's a fake seal, but he couldn't tell which part is fake. His friend was shot dead and Mr. Xu was poisoned on the spot. Since then his health dropped and he died the next year. Now the new leader of the old dynasty, Wang Yuheng, works with the Japanese for a conspiracy to get the antiques.
