The writer created her to humanize the emperor. This ignorant, selfish emperor didn't care about the feelings of people around him. He only took things as: interesting or boring. But Tilan's kindness made him realize that what he did all this time was a mistake. That the painful past is in the past and he needs to move on and stops being a jerk. The emperor we're seeing now is different from he used to be. He became rational and reasonable, unlike Jianming who won't bother to explain anything. If Tilan wasn't there in the picture, we will see the jerk emperor who tries to steal Haishi and we won't see the beautiful brotherhood between him and Jianming.

He is a good emperor who cares for his country and the people, but he was ignorant, selfish and didn't care about feelings and how he was hurting people. Like he said, since he lost Zizan, he became a walking corpse, no heart. Tilan made him human again. Now he became a reasonable, caring and affectionate man 👍🏻

While Jianming was a wall with no door. Haishi keeps swinging her hammer, axe, and other weapons she has to break down this wall. The wall has collapsed, but it creates an illusion as if it's still stand tall. May Haishi be able to break this illusion too 🙏

Since her childhood she didn't have a good life, she went through a lot of abuses and she is never angry or hold grudges. She just accepts everything. A normal person, i.e Haishi, would take revenge or perhaps run away. I don't know if she's too naive or too forgiving 🤷‍♀️
