It's impossible to watch each episode within it's runtime, because you'll have to rewind to fully appreciate either the scenery, the action or the dialogue. Although it's rewatch value was a bit dampened by that unfortunate event, I'm beyond excited that i can now rewatch this.

Apparently, getting married at the end solves all issues. No explanation about why he needed to fake getting married to Song Qianyu, what happened to the money that LXF got after taking BLQ down, why LXF and SZQ seemed to be on bad terms despite all they had been through, why LXF had to transfer money to SZQ even though at the end of ep11 they said that LXF's recent fortune was all in SZQ's account.
For a story that dragged so much in the middle, they really rushed the ending.
I'm also mad that we didn't get to see much of BLQ's mother after teasing us with the concept of a strict matriarch.
Great acting, subpar plot.

The emperor finally did not disappoint the last few episodes after the time skip. I'm attributing that to Yingluo training him well.
At first, I thought the villains got off easily, but in retrospect, they got what they deserved. The punishment for empress Xian seemed mild but she honestly deserves that "peace" after all she has been through.

This is the longest drama I've binged in half a decade, and I enjoyed every minute of it.

Ep 64: It's serious vexing how forgiving she is towards the emperor. That man has literally made her go through hell several times and every time she runs back to him smiling whenever he shows any modicum of care. 🫩🫩🫩

Ep 63: That was the reason for all that pain?

Ep 62: I'm so tired. Yingluo has done nothing but fight and fight. I'm exhausted in her behalf. How easy for people to turn against her; her so called sworn brother, lover, benefactors. All those that are invariably loyal to her are dead, the other one is not only powerless to do anything but also a major root of the problems she's facing. How can these women be so vicious.
The emperor that claims to be so smart and so well educated is nothing but a big fool. What Wei Yingluo said when he was sick still rings true; he's the biggest whore in the harem. Going where the wind blows with no regards for who he cuts down. For me, he's the greatest villain and undeserving of Yingluo. How dare he ask for her unbridled love and affection when she has repeatedly witnessed and experience just how badly he fails those who care about him. Claims to be the most powerful person in the empire but can't even guarantee the safety of the person he claims to love. To hell with him and always putting everything first before her.

Same, maybe because I dislike the concept of a harem but the emperor is the most fickle and dangerous person to leave your heart and life in his care. In just 13 years of reign, so many of his wives have died. That is not a good sign.

Beginning of Ep 61: I really thought Yingluo had finally found a true friend. I keep recalling Consort Chun's words when Yingluo was still a main at Changchun palace that her kind heart will be her downfall.
It's quite unfortunate.

Ep 58: I fear we're losing the plot.

Ep 51: Consort Xian is my favourite type of villain. A truly virtuous and traditional woman being made aware of her innate viciousness by people around her testing her patience. Other than her being a catalyst to Fuca Rong Yi's death, I can't say that I despise her actions.

Ep 40: The subtle foreshadowing when Mingyu said that a person in a bad mood might decide to just throw themselves off when they see the view from the high place.
I'm devastated.
The entire Changchun palace is so incompetent, how did they even survive before Yingluo stepped into the picture.

The emperor is a fucking bastard. Your wife just lost her son and you're going on about responsibilities. I know that that was how he was trained, to put his responsibilities above all, but if he had even an iota of human empathy, he should've known to console her or agree to Fu Heng's suggestion to recuperate outside. What is the use of the far reaches of an empire when your house is on fire.
What a useless man.
Ironically the only slightly useful man in this series is a eunuch.

Ep 39: Is this not too much pain for this woman. The nicest and most pure hearted person in this series and this is what they're doing to her. 3 babies??? I can't even take this any more. I thought it was a lie and immediately went to episode 40. But it's real. Her only child has been murdered again.

Episode 23: I was right to hate Fu Heng when he first appeared and was telling Yingluo not to look down on men. Not only did he sabotage her Plan but he also told on her and claimed it was for her own good. His audacity. Even that sneaked in kiss on the cheek.

There is audacity and then there is Wei Yingluo. In all my years of watching and reading historical Cdramas, I've never seen any character with half the balls as Yingluo.

Wasn't imprisonment an option?

Do actual Japanese get this much hate? I'm sure there are so many descendents of national traitors that are jumping onto this bandwagon of hate, without being aware of their own ancestry. Another Korean woman being held up to unreasonable standards.

I always shed tears after each episode; whether from happiness, grieve, anger or just pure satisfaction. This series is the perfect soul food.
